"If you're gay, lesbian, or bisexual, would you sacrifice for your trans neighbors and siblings? If you're trans, would you sacrifice for your gay, lesbian, or bisexual neighbors and siblings? It's something worth knowing about yourself and those around you."
--Autumn Sandeen, 4/19/2010, the night before GetEQUAL's DADT repeal protest at the White House

Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Autumn on TruTV with Mike Signorile

by: Pam Spaulding

Thu Apr 23, 2009 at 14:42:37 PM EDT

Autumn and Michelangelo Signorile appeared on TruTV to discuss the verdict this morning. Here's video via PageOneQ:

I spoke to Autumn on the phone just a bit ago, and we talked about how the MSM has been transformed and informed, particularly the folks at TruTV and the media on the ground in Greeley.

She actually spent an hour on CourtTV/TruTV's In Session with Lisa Bloom. An hour -- Beth Karas later told Autumn that they never have guests on for that length of time.

Also the kind of impact Autumn has had as a trans new media citizen journalist:

* She shared a Transgender Day of Remembrance bracelet with Karas on-air, explaining its meaning;

* Karas mentioned Autumn's status as a Gulf War veteran and thanked her for her service, another barrier shattered with a wide audience that is now being exposed to these issues.

TruTV deserves a GLAAD award for exponentially raising the profile trans of issues.

Autumn is on The Michelangelo Signorile Show today (actually right now), I'm scheduled to go on at 3:30 ET.

Terrific job by Autumn.
The trans community could hardly have a better spokesperson--as could we all.  (And great work by Mike too--don't mean to give him short shrift.)

Americans suffer from an ignorance that is not only colossal, but sacred.  --James Baldwin

Awesome job Autumn!
You were absolutely great in the interview Autumn!  Thanks so much for putting a human face on our community and for all your hard work throughout trial.

Hugs!

Gwen

Watching on one laptop
And commenting on another... Autumn, you so rock. (and you're gorgeous in red!)

Extremely well done Autumn.
I'm glad we have someone like you because if somebody put a camera on me, they'd have to turn the red waaaaay down.

Awesome job, Autumn!
The work you have done, not just in covering the Angie Zapata trial, but in all your years as an out trans woman, to show the world the humanity of who we are has had, and will continue to have, a profound effect on the transphobic culture that we live in.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I also thank TruTV and Beth Karas for bringing this story to the larger audience that only the MSM can reach.  And thank you to Michelangelo Signorile for bringing this story to his audience and facing the tough questions about how we are viewed and treated by the GLB community.

I wish
we had an 8 for some comments... :)

You deserve a huge Thank You as well, Abby; what a job YOU have done as well!

Yay!
Congratulations Autumn. This may be the beginning of a new chapter in your life.
" Live from CNN this is Autumn Sandeen  reporting to you live....."

Very well done Autumn
and well done in deeply painful circumstances...
You gave us a voice as well as ears...

Well deserved, Autumn.
It's wonderful to see your work being recognized.

Autumn, you rock!
Thank you, both for your excellent work as a member of the media and for the bridges you are building with the MSM.

I agree with QScribe, "The trans community could hardly have a better spokesperson." Your intelligence and ability to articulate issues in a manner that the average non-trans person can understand and relate to, truly makes you an outstanding spokesperson for the community.

Well Done, Ms. Sandeen!
Very Well Done, indeed!

I gotta ask
Did you attend college in Maine? I played cards during breaks in the cafeteria with a guy by this name who was SUCH a wonderul person... if so, HI! :)

[ Parent ]
Thanks for the continued coverage and commentary...

One of our own, speaking for us
and speaking for our fallen.
A historical accomplishment in so very many ways, Autumn and Pam....so many thanks to you both.

For the very first time, our own voice rather than an designated LGBT spokesperson with no experience of our lives.

Oh phooey
C'mon; don't go all blushy- YOU DID GREAT. Arguably as well as the job could have been done.

You kept the focus exactly where it needed to be and never made this in any way about you. Yet you shared your own personal feelings and experiences in ways that did not distract from Angie but CONTRIBUTED the needed living face of the issues raised.

That's a helluva balancing act and not easily done at ALL.

Re:Angie
Maybe it's just me, but I don't think the criminal justice system can provide a punishment I would consider to be just. In a just world, Angie would still be alive. Since that basic fact can't be undone, I don't think true justice is possible. Punishment is not justice.

Emotionally, I grieve along with the family, yet at the same time I celebrate their support of Angie, which for me has been awe-inspiring and deeply moving.

And to add my voice to the many, I want to thank Pam for her support of this journalistic endeavor, and especially, to Autumn, for being our eyes and ears, for being our presence within the courtroom. This is an historic occasion.

Thank you for your work...

Thanks for all you do, Autumn.
Count me in as a "Sandeenista."

Autumn Sandeen a beautiful representative!
Autumn:

Not only did you show yourself to be a wonderful representative of our community.  You also demonstrated your skills as a journalist and communicator.

I am very proud of you and proud to have you as a representative of us.

I am still saddened and angered, though, that this terrible event occurred.

May we see your name again and again as a reporter in ever widening news events, but never again for such a hideous crime.

Bless you and thank you!

-Sandy

thanks for everything Autumn!
You're an inspiration to us all. I also posted daily links to your trial blogs at Susan's. And I love the red vest!
