Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

NOM's and Harry Jackson's Stand4Marriage Rally flops; Marion Barry spouts off about morality

by: Pam Spaulding

Tue Apr 28, 2009 at 17:30:00 PM EDT

The National Organization for Marriage and Bishop Harry Jackson were expecting thousands of "Christians" to show up at today's rally in Washington, DC that was supposed to intimidate the City Council, which recently cast a preliminary vote in favor of recognizing same-sex marriages.

Peter Montgomery of People for the American Way and Right Wing Watch was on site for the festivities.

Jackson had a much smaller crowd than the thousands he had hoped for. As the rally began, there were well under 100 people; by the end there may have been close to 200. They were an enthusiastic bunch, shouting the Devil is a liar and other encouragement to the speakers. Jackson made excuses about how little time they had to mobilize, but promised to pack the Council chambers on May 5 for the next vote. Jackson said his group would be distributing inserts for churches to include in their bulletins this Sunday.
Also making an appearance was former DC Mayor and current councilman Marion "The bitch set me up" Barry.
Jackson was joined at the podium by representatives of the Missionary Baptist pastors network as well as several Hispanic pastor group representatives, as well as the Family Research Councils Tony Perkins, who made a few unremarkable remarks. Focus on the Familys James Dobson sent a letter supporting Jackson and attacking the members of the D.C. Council. To this D.C. resident, the most disappointing moment was former Mayor and current Councilmember Marion Barry leading the crowd in chants against marriage equality (though he noted that he supports civil unions).

...There was also some edgier anti-gay rhetoric.  Jackson compared marriage between gay couples to marriage between close relatives, or between "a man and a three-year old."  One of the final speakers was a Rev. Daniels, who Jackson recruited for the rally from Florida.  He was fixated on gay sex acts, repeatedly urging people to "explain the act" because it would turn people's stomachs and turn them against marriage equality.

Why are these people fixated on sex acts? I swear to God, these bible beaters have more sex on the brain than most gay folks I know.  According to the WaPo, its estimate of attendance was "about 150."

Here's Jackson's speech, via the Washington Blade's coverage. On the right, Marion Barry spouts off about morality, of all things (video courtesy of Right Wing Watch). It's sad to see all those black people out there supporting bigotry.

Below the fold, another special guest that breaks the insanity meter.

Kyle at Right Wing Watch did a follow up post to share the news that fundie Cindy Jacobs was also one of the speakers at the event. Who is she? Protect your keyboards, people - "Prophet" Jacobs set out to cure homosexuality along I-35 a couple of years ago, calling it the "Highway of Holiness" Initiative. It was covered by the 700 Club:

What if the yellow cloud surrounding I-35 isn't an "invasion" from Mexico but an "invasion" of God? That, apparently, is the theory of the youth-oriented church activists profiled on yesterday's "700 Club," who are running "purity sieges" at clinics and porn shops, where they claim to be "moving angels and demons" by, for example, "setting  free" an inebriated young man from "the desires to be with men" through the laying of hands at a gay bar.
Kyle @ RWW::
Honestly, the fact that this woman was invited and given a speaking slot at this rally pretty much tells you all you need to know about how desperate the Religious Right is for allies in this fight and how just how radical Jackson and his efforts really are.

TV coverage
There may have been poor attendence, but they received local television coverage.

Come, come, my conservative friend, wipe the dew off your spectacles, and see that the world is moving."

Marion Berry isn't the only crackhead in the bunch.
1. Having Marion Berry joining the bigots.  Nice move from that hustling preacher Harry Jackson.

2. It is inappropriate to chant "We Shall Overcome" at a homophobe rally.  Speaking of which, when is Harry Jackson going to overcome his bigotry?

Did these ignorant protestors
actually chant that?

And where was the gay community (black and/or white) during all this?

Marion Berry
...just needs to go back to his Jag and snort and smoke something.

On NPR tonight ...
... there was a great report from the rally.  A local reporter asked Berry to explain why his signature appeared on a motion to introduce pro-marriage legislation.  He denied that he signed it.  When the reporter asked him if he'd like to remove his signature from the motion, he reiterated his statement, and blamed it on his staff, who must have signed it for him.

It was classic "Gotcha Journalism" - and boy, did I love it.

Um, did I miss something
Excuse me, um, Bishop... When you say you understand what society was founded on and you want to stand for it, does that mean you are saying you wish to be considered property again? Perhaps you have forgotten that other people were "Biblically Corgageous" and not "Politically Correct" when they used the bible to claim that got seperated the races for a reason. You may not feel that it is not about hating anyone or being against anyone, but you are spekaing against my family and many others like mine.

And I personally don't feel that the protective hand of God has been lifted from a nation, but rather the foolish elected a fool to run this country into the ground.

And please, please, please tell me you are not actually singing "We Shall Overcome" about tolerance and equality....

Return to the nations roots?
The United States was the the largest slaveholding empire in world history.

It was, in fact, written into the Constitution by the founders but "the nation is adrift," as Reverend Jackson noted, and we've lost touch with those Biblically based racial principles expounded upon for decades by the Southern Baptist Church.

The Church, led by "Biblically Courageous" men like Jerry Falwell, preached against integration and interracial marriage as non-Biblical.

If we return to the roots, The Reverend is 3/5 of a man...

Do we REALLY want to be Biblically correct and Biblically courageous like Reverend Falwell and return to the roots of slavery and anti-miscegenation laws?

Be very careful what you use against us Reverend, including the use of a convicted drug felon and four times married man as a supporter of "Biblical Family Values" in representing your cause and your people.

I love the PageOneQ headline
"4x married, Ex-con Mayor says gay marriage immoral"

Currently on Probation
Let us not forget that our wonderful Ward 8 Council Member is not only under probation, as we speak, for failure to pay taxes, but he also very nearly went back to prison just weeks ago because he was late filing his taxes AFTER his previous conviction. Had he not had an organ transplant scheduled, he likely would've been in jail today an not able to speak.

I've lived in DC for 20 years, and had been willing to cut Barry some slack, but this really takes the cake. After inflicting 4th wife Cora on us (locally known as "Lady McBarry) during his last term as Mayor, then stabbing his hand-picked successor as Ward 8 Council Member in the back by deciding to run against her in the primary, and now having the gall to talk about marital morality - please.

Thanks for the laugh,
I just wonder where Newt was hanging out?

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

Mr "Things Go Better With Coke" is against us
which might play well in DC but is a millstone to hang around the anti-gay movement's neck everywhere else.

"Anti-Gay leaders joining up with four time married convicted cocaiine dealer in the name of "Morality" to protect the family....

As I said, he plays well in DC but the rest of the US regards him with a rueful shudder....

Proof there is no Gawd!
Because if there were one, we would have seen a "Monty Python Foot" moment on ole Marion Barry!

"It goes on one at a time, it starts when you care to act, it starts when you do it again after they said no, it starts when you say We and know who you mean, and each day you mean one more."

REQUEST INVESTIGATION OF JACKSON BY THE IRS
Since Mr. Jackson insists on lobbying the U.S. Congress and his interjection of himself and his church in efforts to have legislation passed against LGBT marriage in DC, please file an IRS form 3949-a, requesting an investigation into Mr. Jackson and his churches tax exempt status.

REPORT FAUNTROY AND JACKSON TO THE IRS AS LOBBYISTS FOR THE REPUBLICAN PARTY BY FILLING OUT IRS FORM 3949-A ON-LINE AT http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf... AND PRINT AND MAIL IT TO:  IRS, FRESNO, CA 93888 LET'S TAKE AWAY THEIR CHURCHES' TAX EXEMPT STATUS.
