Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

U.S. House Debating Hate Crimes Bill - PASSED!

by: Lurleen

Wed Apr 29, 2009 at 14:40:19 PM EDT

UPDATE:  Hate crimes bill passed by a landslide in the House, 249 YEA to 175 NAY.  House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced the final tally.  A companion bill has been introduced into the Senate by Senator Kennedy.  Excelsior!

UPDATE 2 (from Autumn): Quote from NCLR:

I'm thrilled! -- This was very important! It's the first time Congress has passed hate crime legislation that specifically includes gender identity.

--Shannon Minter, Legal Director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR)

HR 1913, the federal hate crimes bill, is being debated right now on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives.  C-SPAN has live feed here.  There is still time to CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE and ask them to vote for this bill.  Here's how.

Ugh!
Is anybody listening to the garbage coming out of the opposition?  Their arguments are repetitious, boring, and have already been refuted.

yup.
it's ugly.  a rep from florida called them out by noting that none of the opponents of this bill are complaining that there are hate crimes coverages based on race and religion.

NC will be considering bullying bill soon
http://eqfed.org/campaign/svpa...
or in the next couple of days which will be a big step for NC if any NCers want to send an e-mail.

And I called Congressman Price to support the hate crimes bill.

Tammy Baldwin
given 5 minutes to close out the debate in favor of the bill.  SHe's speaking now...

Someone call Keith Olbermann
or his Worst Person in the World Department.  This BIGOT needs to be on tonight.

Hmmm...
Well I meant Foxx...not sure why I was so vague if I meant to post it in this thread.  I've been vilifying her all day so I guess I lost track :)

Angie Zapata mentions
So far, Jared Polis, Betsey Markey and Tammy Baldwin have all brought up the Angie Zapata case on the House floor, as an argument for passing the bill.

I'm getting video of Rep. Markey's comments sent to me

Just incredible. Rep. Markey (D-CO) is such a change from the representative she replaced, Rep. Marilynn Musgrave (R-CO).

Pence
My god, does Mike Pence ever get to the point? Yawn.

Pence
Shame on Mike Pence for questioning whether hate crimes even happen against "people who describe themselves as transsexuals".

[ Parent ]
He's from Indiana
Thank god, they cut him off!

Medical Reasons
I've got to be careful about listening to the manure coming out of the mouths of some of the Repugnacans in this debate.  My doctor told me to watch my blood pressure.  Also, I really can't afford to buy a new TV right now, so throwing a brick at it is definitely out.  I guess hitting the mute button is the best option.

Frank
Here comes Barney Frank...

Frank
"You would think this is the first time hate crimes ever came up in American history." Ha.

[ Parent ]
Frank defends hate crimes laws for trandgender people.

Amendments
Yep, even though Rep. Louie Gohmert just conceded "It's clear the majority has the votes to pass this."

[ Parent ]
FACTCHECK: Tammy Baldwin got a fact wrong
She mentioned the murder trial of Allen Andrade, Angie Zapata's killer.  She said Andrade beat Angie upon discovery of her biology.

In trial it was made clear that:

-Angie was upfront about her trans status as a matter of course in her daily life, and thus there is little reason to consider she concealed this from Andrade;

-Andrade accompanied Angie to a traffic court, 36 hours before the murder, where Angie was called by her legal name, "Justin".

-Andrade met Angie on a dating site that specialized in bisexual interests.

-Andrade and Angie exchanged over 700 electronic communications.

Very likely, Andrade {NEWS FLASH - Barney ROCKED!} {ahem} Very likely, Andrade knew Angie's status well prior to the crime, and in fact chose Angie for her status as an object of a group he held revulsion in.

Yeah - Passage!
I was trying to follow the voting on the C-SPAN link, but the screen was so small that I couldn't read the numbers well. Thought we were losing until I realized the middle number of the "Yea" votes was a "4", not a "1."

Yup
Long diary up- ya could have knocked me over with a freakin' feather when he called HERE!

But Maine is such a damned small state and everyone knows everyone up here- hell, my dad knew John when he was a kid washing dishes in his parents' restaurant in Bangor. Bill Cohen's family had the best bakery in Bangor. My great-gram once shared a return flight from CA to Maine with Margaret Chase Smith.

Like a really spread-out town...

Woot!
Now onto the Senate!

Very happy
that this one passed.  I even wrote my Rep (much good it did, he still voted no).  I'm now going to write him to ask why he voted against it.

I already know why my REP voted against it......AGAIN
He did last time too. He says he feels, that there 'is nothing new in the bill' that is not already covered by other laws. We have even had hate crime here in our town. Just being a REPUGLICAN ostrich with his head down in the trough of Right Wing $$$. So I have already written to him and to my paper..... again. and I am ill......again. Go read Louise's story that is so cool!

It's the Hammer of JUSTICE,
It's the Bell of FREEDOM,
It's the Song about LOVE between,
my Brothers and my Sisters
...All over this Land.

[ Parent ]
That is the same crap my rep said.

He says he feels, that there 'is nothing new in the bill' that is not already covered by other laws.

I guess they all nailed that reason down pat.  I hope we can dump my rep in 2010.

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.
