The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

NC Congresswoman Virginia Foxx - evil to the core

by: Pam Spaulding

Wed Apr 29, 2009 at 15:22:12 PM EDT

This is beyond belief -- Virginia Foxx, spitting on Matthew Shepard's grave during today's hate crimes bill debate, from Media Matters:

Summary: On April 29, 2009, in a speech on the House floor, Rep. Virginia Foxx claimed that Matthew Shepard's death was merely the result of a robbery gone bad. While his killers Aaron McKinney and Russell Henderson did rob him, they also admitted that they were well aware of his sexual orientation and pretended they were gay to lure him away from the bar he was in at the time. The most striking feature of the case, of course, is that during the course of a normal, simple robbery, the victim is not generally beaten, tied to a post, and left for dead.

Rep. Foxx: "The bill was named after a very unfortunate incident that happened, where a young man was killed, but we know that that young man was killed in the commitment of robbery. It wasn't because he was gay. The bill was named for him, the hate crimes bill was named for him, but it's, it's really a hoax, that that continues to be used as an excuse for passing these bills."[House Floor Speech, 4/29/09]

Call the NCGOP at (919) 828-6423 and ask them if they agree with Foxx's denial of the hate crime.

Reactions are below the fold.

Pam Spaulding :: NC Congresswoman Virginia Foxx - evil to the core

HRC:

During debate on hate crimes legislation taking place today on the floor of the United States House of Representatives, Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) claimed that Matthew Shepard's death was "a hoax."  While Matthew's mother, Judy Shepard looked on from the House gallery, Foxx, who managed the floor for those opposed to the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act, spoke saying, "the hate crimes bill that's called the Matthew Shepard Bill is named after a very unfortunate incident that happened where a young man was killed, but we know that that young man was killed in the commitment of a robbery.  It wasn't because he was gay.  This - the bill was named for him, hate crimes bill was named for him, but it's really a hoax that that continues to be used as an excuse for passing these bills."

"Vile lies, like the one spread by Rep. Foxx today on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives about Matthew's brutal hate-fueled murder, continues to underscore how extreme anti-LGBT opponents have become," said Brad Luna, Communications Director for the Human Rights Campaign.  "It is no longer acceptable in this day and age to just come right out and say you don't like gay people.  Instead, extremist opponents of equality must resort to these types of malicious and twisted lies.  Rep. Foxx should be ashamed of herself."

GLAAD:
"Congresswoman Foxx's comments are repugnant and should be condemned by all fair-minded people in the strongest possible terms," said GLAAD President Neil G. Giuliano. "We urge media to expose Foxx's falsehood and her malicious disregard for the basic facts of this case."

Urgh...

Hoax
"but it's, it's really a hoax, that that continues to be used as an excuse for passing these bills."

*******

No, a hoax is when "religious" people go making up attacks to get attention during the aftermath of Prop 8, trying to turn people against gay people.  A hoax is when a fat white girl carves a backwards "B" in her face, trying to get attention and turn people against a potential black president, if not black people in general.

Matt Shepard's death was very real and was not a hoax.

Hell. Special. Place.
'nuf said.

Well, I can't watch the video, sorry. Seriously, my BP rockets when I get that angry.

I'm completely stunned...
...that it wasn't Michelle Bachmann who said this. You mean, Congress has TWO congresswomen who should be committed for exceeding the "crazy and dangerous" level?

There is a legal finding of fact
that Matthew Shepard was murdered because he was gay.
A congresswoman does not get to challenge a finding.
She does not get to ingore a judicial finding to rewrite history in the image of her own ignorant prejudices.

Hmmm...
If this bill doesn't pass I've got a few hoaxes in mind for this wench.

Since she will not be covered as a hetero either.  I guess it means I can tie her up to a hitchin' post, spray paint hetero on her back, rob her blind, leave her for dead, but just get a slap on the wrist for being a bad boy for purse snatcher with a sense of "humor".

Or better yet, since hate is a hoax let's just get her to undo religious exemptions so I can target her and burn down her church and only have to worry about getting a few days in jail for playing with matches.  After all, hate couldn't be in the mix.

Slippery slope lady...slippery slope.

I keep asking
When religion will be removed from the list of protected classes. After all, why should someone's lifestyle choice be protected under the law? It's just giving them special rights for their behavior.

Special rights
It's ironic in that the religious reicht keeps screaming the falsehood that we want "special" rights, when in fact it's THEY who want the special right to insert their specific religious ideology into secular law!

It's too bad the reicht refuses to abide by two tenents in their bible: Jesus' castigation of hypocrisy, and the passage about worrying the mote in your neighbour's eye when there's a plank in your own!

Right because
The brutality of his death is common to robberies.

Wait...no it isn't. That sort of excess is present in bias crimes; in fact, that's one of the hallmarks of them.

Who elects these hate-mongers?

The Stupid, it burns!
If it's any consolation, here in Minnesota we have Virginia's BFF, Michelle Bachmann, suggesting that Democratic administrations are somehow connected to swine flu.  (She got her facts wrong, imagine that!)

In five days
we have gone from five cases in the US to nearly 100.
Projections for 20 days from now run as high as 80,000 cases.

How about we blame the Cheney death squad for this?

Anyone running against her?
I would not mind spending 10.00 to help her opponent in a Republican Primary or a Democratic Party nominee.

Believe it or not, her opponent in the primary was even worse.
Look up Vernon Robinson.  The people who vote in that district need to do some serious soul-searching.

soul searching
Oh, you mean like all of the soul searching they did after decades of Klan participation and harassing civil rights demonstrators?

Don't hold your breath.  I'm from Western NC and bigotry is deeply ingrained there.

Do you really think that?

Well, I can't think of one.
But then I'm reasonably normal, reasonably decent human being.

But it's hard to imagine what these dolts could fabricate that would be more outrageous. The best they were ever able to come up with here in Pittsburgh was, "90% of gay men like to eat excrement."  Maybe they'll start claiming we like to kill and eat babies or something.

The other OTHER white meat
Mmm, lightly braised baby, drizzled with a Hollandaise sauce and served with wild rice and asparagus. YUMMY! (j/k)

Other things I've heard regarding hate crimes that were equally vicious and evil:

* Gays are an abomination and killing us is an act of righteousness
* Gays are dirty whores and we deserve whatever we get
* Gays falsify hate crime reports to get sympathy

(Two of those are constantly said about women reporting rape. Anyone else see the same misogyny?)

I can't watch this at work
I'll see it wehen I get home. Seems like I'll explode again.

It seems Matthew's mother was present for this screed too.

OMG
I want to send Judy Shepard a card now. That poor woman, to hear such filth spoken of her son.

How is that Virginia Foxx's neck is still intact? If I heard that said about my child, I think I'd leap across the table and rip the speaker's throat out with my teeth.

Actually...

Y'all forgot one now

the dem party
needs to make a commercial to run against her in 2010.  It shouldn't be too difficult to take her own words here and intersperse them with the  F A C T S   of the case to prove that she is either a liar or an idiot.

Please
Oh Please . . .this is not a joke . . .watching that clip made me vomit.

No.
I am seriously so angry I can't see straight.

It doesn't get any more disgusting than this. .Virginia Foxx dances on the grave of Matthew Shepard, again.

Shame.

Not evil to the core; full of BULLSHIT, to the core
Foxx is, sadly, yet another politician who will say nonsensical things to advance herself and her shadow constituents. Who has time to check or care about the truth of her statements, in her district? Not sure.

She is full of bullshit.

This is worse than being a liar. To quote Wikipedia's entry for 'On Bullshit':

"while the liar deliberately makes false claims, the bullshitter is simply uninterested in the truth. Bullshitters aim primarily to impress and persuade their audiences. While liars need to know the truth, the better to conceal it, the bullshitter, interested solely in advancing his own agenda, has no use for the truth. Following from this, Frankfurt claims that "bullshit is a greater enemy of the truth than lies are.""

She is a Republican, after all.

Someone should ask her about Angie Zapata
I'm sure she will put her other foot in her mouth.

Dena

Cisgender. Because "Genetic" is so 2006.

Betsey Markey, D-CO,
spoke very feelingly about Angie and the trial.  They very next Republican speaker (I was too pissed to note his name) said that there has never been one documented hate crime against a trans person.

Of course, all that matters to creeps like this is that what he said will be reported back home in his district.  The fact that it's a bald-faced lie will never bee reported there.  Or if it is, it won't register with the stout hearts who vote for him.

I am not interested in picking up crumbs of compassion thrown from the table of someone who considers himself my master. I want the full menu of rights.  -Archbishop Desmond Tutu

Why, oh why...
...is this senile old woman working for our government? Seriously. The citizens of her state should demand that she resign from her position. She is an embarrassment to herself, and congress, and our country. I feel so sorry that Judy Shepard had to hear that putrid bile.

Virginia Foxx
Her indirect slight on gays and disregard for their rights reminds me of a quote I read once that said that blacks were not really human and therefore exempt from human rights.  The very concept of racist, sexism, and sexual orientation bias in regards to rights and laws to protect people seems archaic to me.  Then again look at her.  She is trapped in a past that she doesn't want to let go of before she passed from this world.  Progress means moving forward.  The past can be nice yes, but if we never grew as a culture we'd all be living in caves eating ants.

I'll agree
with most of this comment, with acception to the term "indirect". There was nothing indirect about it.

The only thing I could do
I never lived in the District while she's been in office, and this was the only leverage I could come up with. I faxed a copy to her offices.

Kenneth E. Peacock, Chancellor
Office of the Chancellor
Appalachian State University
ASU Box 32002
Boone, NC  28608

Subject: ASU's association with U.S. Rep. Virginia Foxx

Dear Chancellor Peacock:

I had the honor of meeting you some weeks ago at an alumni reception in St. Petersburg.

I was born, raised and lived most of my life in North Carolina. I am extremely proud of that upbringing, and am a very proud Mountaineer. The lessons I've taken from my upbringing and education have, I believe, served me well. I was incredibly impressed by your presentation and your enthusiasm for the University, and recognize the current budget pressures you must confront.

At the reception, I noted I'd been lucky enough to receive a small bonus from work, and promised to share that with the University's program for the financially disadvantaged students. Perhaps with the deepest regret I've ever felt in my life, I cannot continue my support of Appalachian State University. Even my pride in North Carolina is shaken, and I can no longer be proud of my home state.

Boone and the University are, as you know, in the Fifth Congressional District, and Virginia Foxx is the representative for that district. I have seen, on Rep. Foxx's congressional website, a number of photographs with her appearing at ASU functions behind and beneath the ASU Banner.

Unfortunately today I saw a video of a statement made by Rep. Foxx on the floor of the United States House of Representatives opposing the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act. It was the vilest, most hate-filled, hateful, and un-Christian statement I believe I've ever heard come from a U.S. Representative. (And that is a pretty high bar.)

To advance her political career, Rep. Foxx claimed that Matthew Shepard was killed merely as part of a robbery. This is a lie, and Rep. Foxx is, or ought to be, aware of the record before making such a statement. The Laramie Police and Prosecutors said the two men lured Mr. Shepard from a bar by pretending to be gay, beat him to pulp, and left him hung, still alive, on a fence post for over 18 hours. The men attempted to use a "gay panic" defense during their trial, and one of the defendants admitted to beating Mr. Shepard because he was gay. How is that not a hate crime?

Yet Rep. Foxx had the gall to stand on the floor of the United States House of Representatives and say, "It's really a hoax."

Chancellor Peacock, I recognize the political reality with which you are faced, but as a gay man, who, while never having suffered as did Mr. Shepard, has been subjected to threats and discrimination, must also stand up to the very real face of hate. I have seen that in the face and words of Rep. Foxx, not only today, but in previous statements. So while I understand you will be able to take no action on this matter, I can act. I cannot, and will not, support any person, organization, group or institution that even associates itself with Rep. Foxx. A person with Rep. Foxx's spirit of hatefulness and lack of integrity should not be actively exposed to the diverse group of young people under your charge as part of any University sponsored event

I hope you will appreciate that this is an extremely difficult decision on my part, but until such time as the University publicly denounces Rep. Foxx's statement and bans her from access to the Campus or any University sponsored event, or until such time as the voters in her district recognize her for the hateful, dishonest person she is and vote her out of office, I will make no further contributions to ASU.

Again, I regret this decision, and hope that the time will be short when I can resume my contributions to my beloved Alma mater.

cc: Rep. Virginia Foxx
