This is actually a great thing

NOM know that they are getting severely trounced around the country on marriage equality.  First their ad was a bomb (and not da bomb), and then Maine and New Hampshire are very close to adopting a marriage equality bill.  They know they're losing and are trying like hell to grasp onto somthing.

They're frantic.  I mean to highlight Perez Hilton! Com'on!

Another bubble

The anti-SSM marriage movement's bubble has burst.  With Bush and other GOP in office for so many years, it was easier to slow down the trend of favor by social moderates towards SSM.  But now all bets are off...the overwhelming amount of Democrats in office, coupled with a newfound energy from the prop 8 fallout, have created an environment amenable to pro-gay legislation.  We're realizing that public opinion against SSM wasn't nearly as strong as Karl Rove or NOM have protrayed, and the polls are starting to reflect this.  

Now the only question is, how long will it take?

I find it hilarious that one of the 7 deadly sins (gluttony AKA Maggie Gallagher) has joined forces with another deadly sin = pride/vanity AKA Miss Jugs For Jesus.

Speaking of parents, if Maggie was so worried about kids having 2 parents, why isn't she spending time with her own kid(s), instead of focusing her time and energy on OTHER families?

Maggie is becoming like Peter LaBarbera - latching onto anything and everything she can, to keep herself afloat.  I hope Jugs likes being used for somebody else's personal gain.

She still won't own up to only representing the Neo-Nazi citizens of the state of California, though.  Why is representing only half of the state is good enough for her?  Does she hate the other half that much?  Guess she wouldn't have a point if she acknowledged her job was to represent everybody.

One thing's crystal clear, though: she wishes she never got caught up in this mess and wants it to just go away.  Guess what, Carrie?  Us, too.

Make no mistake

Prejean is a bigot and deserves to be called out as such.

However, IMHO, Perez Hilton is almost as useless of a life form.  One can be a non-bigot and still be an intellectual amoeba.

There truly is no reason that I (or almost anyone) should ever have heard of Perez (or Paris.) Their collective substantive contribution to society is quantifiably lower than the empty bottle of diet coke sitting next to my computer here in my office.

In all seriousness, this woman is a gift to the LGBT equality movement.  We couldn't have asked our opponents to select a better spokesmodel for their side.

I generally don't like Perez Hilton.  I don't like that he called her a "dumb bitch" (only because it reveals a misogyny and lack of intellectual curiosity on his part and reflects badly on the entire LGBT community), but I thought he asked a great question at the pageant, and I'm thrilled (thrilled!) at Carrie Prejean's newfound celebrity and the geniuses at NOM who decided to exploit it.

Why hasn't anyone asked Maggie Gallagher, who is an unwed mother (although I think she snatched a man to marry her eventually) why was it OK for her to raise her child with only one parent?  All these "reborn" sinners want to have control over everyone else's lives because they couldn't handle their own.

If she has a role model, it's fellow beauty queen Sarah Palin.  Bryant actually accomplished something, however heinous.  Carrie doesn't have a hope in hell of being anything other than laughed at in this life.

If we don't save marriage by prohibiting people we don't like from getting marriage nothing will change.  Because banning same-sex marriage won't stem the tide of heterosexual divorce (which is why so many children have only one parent instead of the "mommy and a daddy" that I insist are necessary).  And who am I to speak of what's "normal" when I have fake boobies? But then hypocrisy has always been the norm of the RRRW so I can do whatever I want while still standing here with a fake smile and the pretense that I'm a victim of persecution la la la la.
