Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Pro-LGBT clergy to hold press conference to support hate crimes legislation and ENDA

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon May 04, 2009 at 10:00:00 AM EDT

After last week's spectacle of NOM's flop Stand4Marriage Rally with Bishop Harry Jackson and Marion "4x married, Ex-con" Barry discussing the sanctity of marriage, this event will be a breath of fresh air.

Tomorrow is the kick off of HRC's 2009 Clergy Call for Justice and Equality. This is to counter the mistaken notion that the faith community is a monolith and that the social religious conservatives have a monopoly on "family values." The Capitol Hill event will include participation of more than 300 clergy members from all 50 states.  They will advocate for a fully inclusive hate crimes bill in the U.S. Senate and for a fully inclusive employment non-discrimination bill (that includes sexual orientation and gender identity).

The theme for Clergy Call 2009, "Moving from Acceptance to Advocacy," reflects the vision of a faith-based movement for LGBT equality built from the ground up: in local churches, synagogues, and mosques.  The effort builds off Clergy Call 2007, when the HRC Religion & Faith Program brought 230 religious leaders from all 50 states to Washington, D.C.

"Clergy Call 2007 was a life changing moment for all who participated," said Harry Knox, director of the Human Rights Campaign's Religion & Faith Program.  "Watching clergy come together to demand justice for LGBT people brought hope to even the most cynical observer.  Those clergy sparked a flame that is igniting a movement for justice and equality around the country.  Clergy Call 2009 will build on that momentum."

WHAT:  Clergy Call for Justice Press Conference
WHEN:  Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. EST
WHERE:  Upper Senate Park, (Rain location: Capitol Hill Presbyterian Church)

Scheduled to make remarks are:

Rev. Dr. Anthony Campolo, St. Davids, PA; Father Richard Estrada, Los Angeles, CA; Rev. Dr. Jo Hudson, Dallas, TX; Rabbi Steven Jacobs, Los Angeles, CA; Rev. Dr. Cynthia Love, Abilene, TX; Rev. Manish Mishra, St. Petersburg, FL; Rev. Drew Phoenix, Anchorage, AK; Bishop Tonyia Rawls, Charlotte, NC; HRC President Joe Solmonese, Washington, DC; Rev. Dr. Traci C. West, Madison, NJ. There's bio info of the clergy here.

Here's hoping
I certainly hope that this array of clergy isn't all one colour, like the leadership of HRC is. We need to press on the fact that not every black in the clergy is anti-gay. That's a big pet peeve of mine regarding conservative blacks -- especially black clergy.

I won't ever support HRC until it gets rid of its focus on rich white gays, and starts looking like the rest of the US.

The fact Uncle Joe stabbed us transfolk in the back two years ago still rankles me, and until he's gone and a lesbian or other minority takes his place, I won't give them a penny!

Listen to "TransTalk" every Thursday at 4-5pm ET on http://www.falconradio.org

The info is right there
Clicking on the link indicates that the clergy is not all one apparent color or one presenting-gender (I won't assume how any of these folks self-identify L,G,B,T from a photo).

And HRC's last two (2) leaders were lesbians - or identified as such at the time.

This is nice and all
But it's a shame that we feel that we have to pander to a God who considers homosexuality an abomination.

When are people going to stop trying to reconcile the Abrahamic God with homosexuality? It's like a Jew who delivers a speech designed to lift up the Jewish experience--except the whole thing is just a bunch of cobbled-together quotes from Hitler arranged such that their primary meaning has been arbitrarily subverted.

From what I've observed
in the links, the clergy members are inclusive of all faiths and ethinicities.

While I would not go so far as to call this "pandering," I am intereasted in what these LGBT clergy will do to combat the overwhelming anti-gay bigotry of the conservative religious community.

Well kevinchi et al.

Go to SOULFORCE... and read how many will be going into evnagelical churches with BADGES on saying I support Gays, from mid-May to the end of June.. to prompt discussions with anti-gay members.   Sounds pretty brave to me.

..... and they do not feel 'their' God has given up on them, but supports them.

Those who feel 'your' God has, are just following the wrong God.

SUNDAYS OF SOLIDARITY.
SUNDAYS OF SOLIDARITY

Between May 17 and June 28, 2009, groups of LGBT and allied people around the country will attend worship services at a church of their choice - a church that is not welcoming and affirming of openly LGBT members and guests. Each group will wear a lapel button that reads "gay? fine by me." For less formal churches we also have a t-shirt with this message. The lapel button (or t-shirt) serves as a conversation starter - opening dialogue with people in the church about faith, sexual orientation, and gender identity.

When that visible act of courage is paired with adequate training, then transforming hearts and minds becomes a bona fide possibility. That's why we've designed a three-part teleconference course and a resource webpage that covers the essentials of Nonviolent communication, Media talking points, and What both the Bible and science really say about homosexuality. Training teleconferences will be held on April 19, April 26, and May 3 at 4pm CST. To register for the trainings go to http://www.soulforce.org/moodl... and enter your information.

Don't get me wrong Orion
I wholeheartedly support them and I do feel that's it's brave. Most of the LGBT's that I know (of varied ethnicities) are involved in some sort of spirituality or religion or go to church. But they don't, as far as I know, carry this type of thing into the political sphere, understandably.

Uh...
No one said anything about God "giving up" on anyone.

>>Those who feel 'your' God has, are just following the wrong God.

Of course. It can't be possible that there simply is no God, right?

Religious nuttery is religious nuttery, whether it jibes with the LGBT agenda or not.

[ Parent ]
Most excellent! That is if...
they are not diverted to a stage behind a dump somewhere in Virginia at the last minute.  You know, another of those Obama-orchestrated "mistakes".
