Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

DADT-discharged Lt. Dan Choi's appearance on Rachel Maddow show tonight

by: Pam Spaulding

Thu May 07, 2009 at 21:00:00 PM EDT

UPDATE 9:15 PM: Choi was on for such a short time, but I bumped this back up so folks watching can comment. One of the items they discussed is a letter sent by the President to another service member who was discharged under DADT and Obama indicated that he wanted to repeal the law. Dan Choi will also a 8:40 AM tomorrow
on CNN's "American Morning Show."

Rep Joe Sestak (D-PA) was also on to support the repeal of DADT. Rachel also asked him whether he was going to run against Arlen Specter. He said he hasn't decided yet.

Dan Choi will also a 8:40 AM tomorrow on CNN's "American Morning Show."

Question for everyone - has the dam broken on this one? How can the President ignore the fact that his policy (and it's his decision not to press Congress to do anything) is hurting our military readiness - and he cannot hide now that the media spotlight is shining brightly on it?

***

If you caught Rachel Maddow last night, she discussed the situation of out gay service member Dan Choi, who publicly came out of the closet last year, but wasn't given the boot by U.S. Army until now; he has received his official letter of discharge. He will be on her show tonight to discuss the issue.

Choi also movingly speaks about the failed, discriminatory policy of DADT on the West Point LGBT Alumni Group KnightsOut's web site:

My name is Dan Choi. I am a West Point graduate. I am a Lieutenant in the United States Army.

I am gay.

I serve my country. I serve my country because I heard a leader say: "ASK NOT what your country can do for you... ASK what you can do for your country." But when I step up to serve our country, to put my life on the line to protect my community, to protect my neighbors, to protect my family, to protect America, I am ordered... DON'T ASK. I am ordered... DON'T TELL.

I serve with 65,000 selfless gay and lesbian Americans; we are ordered to deny who we are. We're ordered to HIDE. But I am not hiding anymore. I am not asking permission anymore. I am done ASKING. I am TELLING. I am gay.

The first time he appeared on Rachel's show, the audio mysteriously cut off as he speaking. They replayed a bit of that it on the March 20 show:

More below the fold.

You can also join the "President Obama: Lt. Dan Choi Needs a Fierce Advocate Right Now" Facebook group. From the group's site:
Lt. Dan Choi is one of 38 graduates of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., who came out last year and announced the formation of a group called Knights Out, dedicated to helping West Point educate future Army leaders on honoring the sacrifices of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) U.S. military personnel.

Lt. Choi has now received a letter informing him of his discharge from the U.S. Army for violating the military policy on "homosexual conduct." He will appear on The Rachel Maddow Show on Thursday, May 7, to discuss his situation.

Remember after the election last year, when the Obama Transition team announced that Pastor Rick Warren would give the invocation at the inauguration...? and remember the subsequent firestorm that erupted from LGBT people and our allies because of the Pastor's and his church's speeches/activities/policies in opposition to LGBT rights...?

President Obama responded by saying that everyone knew he was a "fierce advocate of equality" for lesbians and gay men (as if, it would seem, advocating for someone's rights gives one license to spit in their eye).

But since taking office, the President has not made advocacy for LGBT Americans a priority, even while he has been creating a veritable tidal wave of policy and spending proposals touching most every aspect of American life. A few weeks ago, Defense Secretary Robert Gates admitted that he was in no rush even to conduct a review of DADT.

Meanwhile, while advocating for LGBT rights has not been a priority for President Obama, honorable LGBT Americans who are serving their country face life-changing enforcement of the idiotic policy that requires them to betray their own integrity or be honest and discharged.

Lt. Dan Choi and others need a fierce advocate right now.

They need an executive order, signed by President Barack Obama, putting an emergency halt to discharges from the U.S. military based on infractions of the Don't-Ask-Don't-Tell policy.

These LGBT service members are fierce defenders of the United States, and right now they need President Barack Obama to keep his promise to be a fierce advocate for LGBT rights.

Write the President today and ask him to sign an Executive Order putting an emergency halt to discharges from the military based on infractions of the Don't-Ask-Don't-Tell policy.

Dan Choi
The Hollywood Canteen, that venerable vehicle of patriotism founded by Bette Davis in the 1940s, should be revived.  It should be revived for one night, or a series of nights, as a tribute aimed specifically at our service people of LGBT orientation.  It should be an event, a celebration, like the recent birthday bash for Pete Seeger.  There should be speakers and singers and honors.  Country singers in particular should be on the program, because no other song genre conveys patriotism like Country does.  For far too long, the United States has given its LGBT enlisted personnel ostracism, criminalization and stigma as rewards for their distinguished service.  It's time to atone for that transgression with a media event that simultaneously honors them and educates the public about their invaluable contributions to our nation's defense.  We should do this while a significant number of them are still around to appreciate the tribute; many have already gone to their graves having known nothing but bigotry and hatred.  We can't force Barack Obama and the Joint Chiefs to do right by the Dan Chois of this world.  However, we can shame the Hell out of them, and make it that much harder for them to justify cruel and discriminatory policies like DADT.

Well, we certainly need to help them become 'VOCAL' and VISUAL...

because they are forced to remain hidden in our military.  This must go.

Remember there is a BILL BEFORE CONGRESS to repeal DADT:  the

Military Defense Readiness Act, submitted by Elaine Tauscher... I almost think she was given her new Russian anti-missile job just to quiet this bill.

We need to make it NOISY again!!!!

PS thanks for the fb Group tip....forwarded to KNIGHTS OUT...
Which is also a fb group.

Ever see STAGE DOOR CANTEEN?
It's the New York equivalent of Hollywood Canteen, and it features such lesbian goddesses as Katherine Cornell (in what is, I believe, her only film appearance) and Gypsy Rose Lee (who does the tamest strip tease in recorded history).  The main story is about a shy, sensitive young GI, played by gay actor Lon McCallister, who worships Broadway divas and was taught to do so by the teacher in his high school drama class.  What was Warner Brothers trying to tell us?

Cynic, n.  A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be.

We need more of this..........
Creative, RELEVANT, SUBSTANTIAL ideas for events that make a strong, lasting impression (the opposite of calling in "gay for a day", for example).

Decades MORE of Psychological Abuse? - OR - Stonewall.  Nationwide.  NOW!

I like this

Lets see the reaction

Dan Choi
I have such a huge crush on him.  I hope we see more of him in the days to come, advocating for DADT's unequivocal repeal and sharing his beautiful self with the world.

FROM KNIGHTS OUT: ... our Twelfth Man is HERE!

"If you ask me what I came to do in this world, I will answer you: I am here to live out loud." - Émile Zola

....and our young man is LT. Choi!

On Thu, May 7, 2009 at 15:18, Becky Kanis for the KNIGHTS OUT Facebook Group wrote:

lst LT Dan Choi received notice of his dismissal from the New York State National Guard this week.

Tonight, at 9 PM EDT, Dan will appear live on MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Show to discuss this injustice -an injustice both to Dan Choi personally, and to our national defense which will be weakened by the loss of a West Point graduate, a combat veteran Infantry Officer, and an Arabic Linguist.

First, I want to acknowledge the tremendous courage and integrity displayed by 1LT Dan Choi, as well as all 59 (and counting) OUT Knights, all 26 Graduate Supporters, and over 117 Allies. Coming out this publicly for the right to integrity of all soldiers, regardless of orientation, is unprecedented by a group of West Point graduates. It has definitely been noticed!

Second: It seems a storm is brewing:

This morning, on the front page of the New York Times , above the fold, is a story about the mounting pressure on President Obama to engage on gay issues.
Can you imagine breakfast formation in Central Area (of Westpoint) this morning? "Sir, today in the New York Times, it was reported that...."

Nathaniel Frank, author of 'Unfriendly Fire' - a must-read history of the dishonorable Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy, briefed 150 SOSH cadets at West Point this week. If you haven't purchased it yet, I highly recommend it.

WHAT TO DO:

1. Tell all your friends to tune in to The Rachel Maddow Show tonight at 9 pm EDT. Email, facebook, twitter - whatever!

2. Spread the word to fellow West Point Alumni and request that they join Knights Out IMMEDIATELY.  As in, BEFORE the Rachel Maddow Show airs tonight.
Thousands of people visited our site the last time Dan was on the show as it aired. Let them see that there are many other West Point graduates standing
shoulder to shoulder with Dan, and standing up for the rights of all soldiers to serve, regardless of orientation.

Now, more than ever, the time has come to end Don't Ask, Don't Tell.
Thank you for your courage, integrity, and support!

A capable man is the President
How can the President ignore the fact that his policy (and it's his decision not to press Congress to do anything) is hurting our military readiness..

Yes, it won't be easy. But I'm sure he'll manage it.

Hope and Change.

There is no situation so complex it can't get even worse

As usual, the Republicans are responding with stunning and vicious bigotry: http://www.freerepublic.com/fo...

Do you smell something?
Ah, that's the Freepers. They shat themselves in terror after coming face to face with real gay and lesbian troops and veterans, among whom I am honored to be counted.
