A 'Christian' sermon on the role of women - 'just shut up'

Actually on second thought I support this fully. Women have been making up most of Church attendance lately anyways. Maybe pastors like this reminding women that no matter how "pious" and shit-sucking they get for their captors, they will never be considered equal or even fully-human, will finally get these women to leave the churches, removing their daily influence in their children's lives in the homes and in the schools.

really...seriously.  We have people calling a hate crimes bill "protecting pedophiles" and we have a guy in his monthly letter (on the web site) standing between to two younger guys boxing talking about women shutting up?  

Oh I think women of the church should shut up...Phyllis Schaffley and Gayle Ruzika of the Eagle forum are the first that pop into my head (of course this is just a personal wish). Of course I think if either of them stopped yapping for 5 minutes they would explode.  The rest of this is absurd.  

I guess if the guy is sexist, homophobia is not a big jump for him.  Although at the end of this months "article" He says "Surround yourself with what you desire to become" and he is surrounded by two hot sweaty guys?  Hmmm...desires the same thing I do....hmmm.  just saying

When the Fundies preach about "morality", "tradition," and "God in the mix" this is what it includes

When they are empowered to enact "god's law" this is on their wish list. People need to know that and to see it. We need to call the fundies, in debate, on their agenda for America beyond same -sex marriage because SSM is only their recruiting drive hook to pull people in.

Recriminalisation is clearly on their list given NOM's make up

And the pastors want women back into the kitchen and the birthing room.

The public needs to see these men with all of their isues exposed; they need to see what sort of misogynistic and reprehesnsible neanderthals bent upon imposing Bronze age myths and laws upon a 21st century secular nation that these people are.

You know,  what "the reverend" is preaching here is just good old fashioned women-hating talk.  Look, if Eve (and it was EVE after all, not Adam) had just left well enough alone, we would all still be living in paradise.
I think Misogyny and Homophobia are valid expressions of "loving thy fellow man".  How else are old straight white men supposed to hold on to power? Its their only option.  Lets all just accept the fact that in AMERICA the Church is just an extension of high school, and all the petty conflicts and adolescent tendencies toward exclusion and ridicule Must Be Allowed to Flourish. We must afford zealots, I mean, "spiritual leaders", the opportunity to stand in a place of power and exact their revenge on the football team that was mean to them as children.  And since we know that the zealots, I mean, "spiritual leaders" cannot actually stand up to their tormentors, it is only fair that they should exact their revenge on peoples spirits and emotions and values.  

Misplaced anger is as old as Man himself. (whats the current estimate? 3000 yrs or so?) Suffer these fools gladly - They have gone from disenfranchised, to holier than thou to (as this new millenium unfolds) archaic and obsolete.  See how quickly the drowning man pulls others down into the abyss.   As the literal interpretations of scripture reveal themselves to be ignorant and damning, wildly inappropriate for these times, and ultimately FALSE, we must turn our other cheek to the assaults both verbal and physical of an hysteric, drowning, dying breed.  Euthanize them all and GODSPEED!!

He's got the money mention right up front,

just under the first short paragraph about how great he is at "reaching many souls", he got CD's for sale; and the BIG "pay pal verified" seal prominently displayed.

This BULLSHEET about subjugating women was one of the biggest problems I had with the church! I was married at the time; it was a 'fundie charismatic baptist' church ... you can guess the rest. (didn't take us very long to GTFO)

Anyway, I wonder how this preacher dr. Kidd feels about Miss Prejean prancing around in her bikini whilst talkin' all jeezussy and stuff, and how he feels about these other churches lauding this woman.   ^grin

Well, except for the confederate stuff.  But around here, you see confederate flags, front license plates, etc. all the time.

He doesn't look like a person who smiles very much though.

Maybe he needs more fiber in his diet.  If that doesn't work there's other things that can be done to clean him out and improve his humor.

The verse is from Timothy, which most New Testament experts agree was not written by Paul, but by Timothy himself, in an ancient tradition called pseudographia.

Tim had some issues, probably from being told his mother and grandma, although godly women who raised him, weren't of his caliber.

And yeah. Sit down., Shut up. Submit, submit, submit. No gold or pearls or braided hair for you. Work yourself to the bone, rising before it is light and not letting your lamp go out at night, and maybe your husband will be proud of you and your children will call you blessed.

Is there any proof that this guy is a real preacher, and not someone's crank fantasy?  He sounds more like the mythical heavily armed  Mall Cop Ninja than a real person with a real church.  Is he preaching out of his attic?  Who's his congregation?  What larger church does his church belong to?

But the really rich part is: Singing is an important part of the worship service. This office is not a calling, but it should be led by a man with leadership ability.

I guess he defines 'leadership ability' as 'the capacity to arrange the chiffon G-d provided us around the altar in an aesthetically pleasing fashion, the turn around and lead the choir in praising the LORD'.

Otherwise, one gets the impression that Kidd is unaware of the slim pickings for those who require their choir directors to be both male and straight. As in, Don't get used to making a joyous noise unto the LORD under that direction!

OK, Rev, presentation first. You probably meant to say, "quote one verse correctly". See, to modify the verb "quote" you need an adverb, not an adjective. (As long as we're dealing with grammatical issues, you also use the possessive singular form "pastor's" three times instead of the plural "pastors"). Did they teach English composition in bible college, or did they just tell you to pray for guidance?

Next, content. I don't want to strain your cognitive abilities too much, Rev, but do you think it possible that Eve could not quote bible verses correctly because the bible hadn't been written yet? Just a suggestion.

Apparently there is no shortage of un-accredited faux, Bible schools willing to bestow a PhD.  I wonder which one would be willing to claim him?  He also has apparently missed the fact that there was no shortage of female leaders in the early church-such as Phoebe, a deacon in the church of Cenchreae; Prisca and Aquilla, who worked jointly with Paul; Tryphena and Tryphosa and I could go on and on.  I can only apologize on behalf of Mr. Kidd for his misogyny.  Such attitudes are not reflective of or welcome by those who claim to be followers of Jesus.

This guy suffers from selective illiteracy

The Resurrection is one of the central beliefs of Christianity.  The first person to see the risen Christ, and then tell the male disciples who were still in hiding, was Mary Magdalene.  The biggest gospel of all, He is Risen, was preached by a woman.  I doubt the theology of anyone who can denigrate something so central to the faith.
