Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

NY: Gillibrand and Schumer send letter to lawmakers urging passage of marriage equality bill

by: Pam Spaulding

Wed May 20, 2009 at 19:00:00 PM EDT

This is interesting. In New York, a letter from Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer pressing state lawmakers to pass a marriage equality bill is making its way through the Assembly.

"We have expressed our support for full marriage equality in New York and for a reworking of federal law that denies full federal legal equality to anyone who is lawfully married in any state," the two wrote. "Passage of this bill will be a vital step to achieving that goal."

The letter is circulating around the chamber. It comes the day after Gillibrand met with gay activists and  several weeks after Schumer announced he is in full  support of same-sex marriage.

I thought it passed needs Assembly easily...
Needs to get through Senate?

It's the Hammer of JUSTICE,
It's the Bell of FREEDOM,
It's the Song about LOVE between,
my Brothers and my Sisters
...All over this Land.

I guess the know supporting equality is on the winning side.
These politicians don't announce stuff like this unless they know it is a safe thing to do.

This also can't be happy news for NOM who has been hitting the airways with their Bull Shit ads.  BTW, IMHO, I think the NOM ads help our side.  They are the same nonsensical lies repeated over and over again and have been thoroughly debunked.

I will take this as good news also keeping in mind that Gillibrand has to run for election in 2010.  Here is hoping New Jersey is listening as well.

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

Nailed it.
Absolutely right.  People up here in NY are still pissed that gov. Patterson selected a conservadem NRA panderer like Gillibrand as Hillary's replacement.  Gillibrand knows she has a long way to go to build her liberal credentials before she gets primaried out.

Despite the political opportunism, both NY Senators deserve at least a little credit and stand as examples to their peers.

Not like Feinstein or Boxer
Several years ago when the CA legislature was working on passing marriage equality for the first or second time I contacted Sen Feinstein's office to ask that she come out in support of equality.  The official response was I should contact my State representatives as they were the ones who represented me on the state level where she represented Californians on the federal level.  Thanks for nothing back then DiFi.

Good for Schummer and Gillibrand.  The times they are a changin'.

I think "times they are a-changin" is right.
I wonder if these two or anyone would have written this letter back then.  IA, VT, CT and even CA (via the strength of the response to prop 8 passing) have given a lot of people the courage they lacked before the new pro-equality trend was visible.

It's amazing
actually how politicians are now desperately trying to come out on the right side of marriage equality after being utterly silent on this issue for the last eight or so years. While I appreciate their support, and wait patiently for marriage equality in New York, I see more and more how they only give a shit for which way the political pendulum is turning and not doing the right thing for American citizens. That is why Gavin Newsom will ALWAYS be my hero.

I agree with you, basically.
But it is also good to see that some other politicians are now finally seeing that this is the moment that they need to decide what side of history they want to be on.  Will they, like Obama, choose the side of bigotry in the history books, or will they choose the side of civil rights.
