The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Hillary recognizes Gay and Lesbian Pride Month at State Dept.

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Jun 01, 2009 at 14:30:00 PM EDT

Just hit my inbox...still nada from the White House, but I'm sure a statement is right on the way.
Secretary's Remarks: In Recognition of Gay and Lesbian Pride Month 2009

In Recognition of Gay and Lesbian Pride Month 2009

Hillary Rodham Clinton
Secretary of State
Washington, DC

June 1, 2009

Forty years ago this month, the gay rights movement began with the Stonewall riots in New York City, as gays and lesbians demanded an end to the persecution they had long endured. Now, after decades of hard work, the fight has grown into a global movement to achieve a world in which all people live free from violence and fear, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

In honor of Gay and Lesbian Pride Month and on behalf of the State Department, I extend our appreciation to the global LGBT community for its courage and determination during the past 40 years, and I offer our support for the significant work that still lies ahead.

At the State Department and throughout the Administration, we are grateful for our lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees in Washington and around the world. They and their families make many sacrifices to serve our nation. Their contributions are vital to our efforts to establish stability, prosperity and peace worldwide.

Human rights are at the heart of those efforts. Gays and lesbians in many parts of the world live under constant threat of arrest, violence, even torture. The persecution of gays and lesbians is a violation of human rights and an affront to human decency, and it must end. As Secretary of State, I will advance a comprehensive human rights agenda that includes the elimination of violence and discrimination against people based on sexual orientation or gender identity.

Though the road to full equality for LGBT Americans is long, the example set by those fighting for equal rights in the United States gives hope to men and women around the world who yearn for a better future for themselves and their loved ones.

This June, let us recommit ourselves to achieving a world in which all people can live in safety and freedom, no matter who they are or whom they love.

WTF?
This coming from the mouth of the wife of the signor to DOMA and DADT?  She was complicit in those political decisions and I still hold her accountable.

The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States. - The U.S. Constitution Article IV.Section. 2. Clause 1

Oh, get over it
Bill avoided political suicide in the 1990s. Yeah, it stunk, but that was back then, and we're in a new century.

enough already
DADT was a compromise after Clinton tried to do the right thing and was crucified for it.  Would you prefer that he left the military the way it was when gays couldn't legally serve at all even if they didn't "tell"?

DOMA was another compromise to stop the progress of a constitutional ammendment banning gay marriage nationally.

It's time to STOP judging those two items by today's standards and remember what the country really looked like in the early 90's

[ Parent ]
So?
DADT and DOMA are terrible, but however she was involved, is she's not allowed to change her mind?

I fully welcome her statement.

Hillary the lesbian
is really trying to come out, so to speak, on gay issues, without giving away the fact that she lives with her gorgeous Pakistani chief of staff, whose name eludes me at the moment. She can't be TOO pro gay, so she takes baby steps.

Fuck her too.

Huma Abedin?
She IS gorgeous. I'm hoping that HIllary will continue to press for our rights.  Who else is even taking "baby steps" this close to the Pres?

[ Parent ]
This sort of crap is so typical of how strong women are treated.
BTW, Bill Clinton's longtime aide joined him 14 years ago when he was 21 or 22 years old. Funny how we never hear this sort of prickish speculation about him.

I have to wonder...
Regardless of Bill's history as POTUS, I am starting to wonder if we (LGBT) backed the wrong candidate. Given the defaning silence from the White House of late on DADT, et.al., would Hillary have done better on LGBT issues...
Ahhh, hindsight; it's always 20/20...

I doubt it
Hillary isn't in the big chair having to worry about re-election or expending political capital. What she is doing is making the President look like a foot-dragging pol.

We (LGBT) backed Hillary,
if by "we" you mean the majority of self-identified GLBT Americans.  I'm proud to have been one of them.

On Obama v. Hillary. . .
Although it is easy to slip into that "Obama's an a**hole" line of thinking, we should resist handing out judgment at the beginning of the trial. We haven't heard all the facts yet. 2012 is when the jury is due to make it's ruling.

In the meantime, we should be doing everything in our power to keep our voices heard, to continue to apply pressure and to bring more and more people into the fold rather than push them out.

Yes, I am pissed at Obama's lack of engagement, but I am watching and studying him. He is shrewd, intelligent and highly adept at navigating politics. His style is big tent and I believe he still continues to include us in that big tent. His political power has come from inviting everyone into the dialogue. I don't think he will jetison anyone (or any group). Speculation to the opposite serves no purpose. Applying pressure in constructive ways helps to insure he keeps his promises. Tearing him down and cursing him does nothing - he doesn't respond to it.

If you must vent - do it privately until you have real justification and silence is not justification - I think it is highly likely that it is part of his larger plan. In the mean time we can't change who our president is for the next for years, so let's get behind him and push.

Close the GayTM. Only give to candidates who have actually done something other than make promises - most are just pandering for our cash.

Her name is Huma Abedin
and according to the NY Post, she's dating Congressman Anthony Weiner! Wonder if Hillary approves...

Here we go again
The comments about Hillary (and Bill) serve no purpose but to divide us from our allies. The fact is that the Clintons have always been friends of the LGBT community and we not fully embraced them because of things that happened two decades ago when no other possible outcome was even possible. Stop pushing away our allies, commend them for what they do get right and pressure them on what they don't.

i think we should thank her..
..for writing the letter.  i think it is a nice letter and one i'd like to get from my boss.  i believe she likes gay folks just fine.  she wrote it on her own didn't she?  did a group ask her to write it?  i believe we should try to 'catch' people doing something right and reward them.  we could stand to spend some energy recognizing all sorts of people that are working on our behalf and saying something good about it.  i don't believe in giving any energy or focus to the bigots because they feed on it like a drug.  we reward their 'bad' behavior with our attention.

Good point
Our allies should be praised/rewarded. Am writing my letter now to the Secretary of State.
