Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

The Governator calls for swift fed resolution of Prop 8 fed lawsuit

by: Pam Spaulding

Tue Jun 16, 2009 at 22:58:04 PM EDT

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's taking an aggressive stand -- he filed an official response to the federal lawsuit brought by the American Foundation for Equal Rights and attorneys Theodore Olson and David Boies. Significantly, he also does not dispute that Prop 8 isn't constitutional. (American Foundation for Equal Rights press release via email):
The Governor did not dispute the unconstitutionality of Proposition 8 and called for swift action by the courts.

"Today's filing by Gov. Schwarzenegger bolsters our call for a swift end to the constitutionally intolerable situation created by Proposition 8. We are extremely pleased Gov. Schwarzenegger does not dispute the unconstitutionality of Proposition 8 and agrees that swift action is needed to ensure that every person is treated equally under the law," said American Foundation for Equal Rights Board President Chad Griffin. "Exactly one year ago today, thanks to the state Supreme Court, equal marriage rights were granted to every Californian for the first time. We look forward to the federal courts granting those equal rights once and for all by quickly acting on this case."

Gov. Schwarzenegger's filing states: "Plaintiffs' complaint presents important constitutional questions that require and warrant judicial determination. In a constitutional democracy, it is the role of the courts to determine and resolve such questions. ... The Administration encourages the Court to resolve the merits of this action expeditiously."

Wow
The Governator is a much Fiercer Advocate than the POTUS. Who'da thunk it?

the thing is,
is that i totally do not trust the governor, since he was decidedly NOT a fierce advocate during prop 8.  thus, i am suspicious that he's actually aiding a case that could end us with a really bad precedent.

I think that he's only doing it to increase his approval rating (it's quite low now), but I'll take that action right now.

You are absolutely 100% completely correct. This is the worst possible news.
This means the people who own Schwarzenegger are now in bed with Ted Olson.  NONE of these people are our friends.

Chad Griffin is an idiot of, unfortunately, historic proportions as history will record that our downfall in the Court is on his head.

Our only hope to thwart Olson's plan was to slow this case down so that a reversal of Prop 8 by the voters could render it moot.  Schwarzenegger's support of speeding up the case now means that one and only hope has been rendered moot.

But I'm sure it's all coincidence.  I mean, it's not like Republicans have ever engaged in conspiracies against the American people, right?

Thanks, Arnold...
...but no thanks.

You vetoed Marriage Equality ... twice.  Too little too late.  This mess is mostly your fault.  I don't care how fiercely you advocate for us now.

You are on the list, girly man
The fuck you list.

Way down on it...but still on it.

The Arnold
does enjoy a certain immunity from backlash due to his lame-duck status.

Not a defense of his past record but something to note.

as Schwarzenegger cuts 80 million to the most defenseless with AIDS
i can't visualize anything horrible and painful enough to wish on the SOB

I agree, that AIDS support/counselling/medication subsidies is important as all hell.   I'm Negative myself, but tell me where CA was supposed to even make any sort of effort to balance the budget?

The CA legislature keeps screaming for more money, but won't cut programs.   Which is even more sick, in that CA is the state in the union that has the biggest package of social programs out there, and as a unit, they're like the sixth or seventh largest economy in the WORLD, regardless of what the rest of the US does, based on GDP, but they can't pay for everything out of the tax coffers.

Where else should they have cut? Preschools, ESL programs, Anti-Gang programs?    The cuts have to come somewhere.   Being as I'm not a Californian, is there some sort of pork in the budget that would have been a more appropriate cut?

(Please not, I am NOT a governator apologist, I'm not in CA, and have no direct stake in this, but I think Ahnold is catching a bad rap here....)

I don't care if they have to sell Big Sur and the tarpits
and put an oil well every 50 yds off Malibou, without the ADAP drugs, hundreds of thousands will DIE. I know what that's like, my lover died in 90, and I've lost 7 close friends, and countless aquaintances.

They were supposed to raise taxes on the many, many, many rich people in CA, none of whom remotely pay their fair share of taxes.
Schwarzenegger's owners overthrew a legal election, rather than run their puppet against an incumbent, by claiming the re-elected governor was responsible for what we came to understand was totally the malfeasance of Enron.  You know, that company the Republicans loved so much.

Since then, Schwarzenegger's owners have systematically destroyed the state.  And when Schwarzenegger actually had to run in his one and only election, the Republicans made sure that the best Democratic candidate was defeated in the primary.  The Democrat who actually ran against Schwarzenegger than essentially sat out the rest of the election and Schwarzenegger "won" after one already unpopular three-quarters term.

You can't trust Republicans with your money.  Period.  They steal, they mismanage, they destroy.  Schwarzenegger's owners have only done what Republicans always do.

But making the choice to kill poor Californians rather than demand that billionaires carry their part of the burden is a new -- and horrific -- low.

[ Parent ]
Taxes on the rich in California,
especially the property taxes which are kept much lower than would be reasonable, still have plenty of room for growth before you start running into negative economic impacts.  Especially with regards to property taxes, people will be willing to pay a little bit extra to live in California -- and property taxes apply to the "vacation" homes of people who "live outside the state" to avoid income taxes.

federal suit
This whole federal suit scares the crap out of me. I would be shocked, dumbfounded even, if the Supreme Court ruled in our favor.

What is more likely, however, is that the Supreme Court will find that yes, it is perfectly constitutional for same-sex marriage to be banned in state constitutions. That will set a precedent that could take decades to undo and will likely lead to a renewed push to pass more constitutional amendments in the interim, and possibly other assaults on gay rights as well.

If we lose, we could be headed for some very dark times in this country, regardless of demographic trends.
