Sally Kern on Obama's radical homo agenda (?!) and her Proclamation of Morality

Are they living in some alternate reality than the rest of us? Oklahoma State Rep. Sally Kern  (sallykern@okhouse.gov)  the homo-hating, illegal pistol-packing bigot caught The Peter's eye with this diatribe about this "proof" of the Obama admin's godless homosexualism:
The homosexual agenda is only one symptom of the real problem in America. The problem is that we have forsaken the Judeo-Christian values upon which this nation was founded. Noah Webster declared: “The principles of genuine liberty and of wise laws and administrations are to be drawn from the  Bible.”

There are two conflicting worldviews vying for power. The secular humanist worldview versus the Judeo-Christian or Biblical worldview. Humanism sees the world as impersonal matter shaped by chance with man just another animal. There is no basis for values or laws. The Biblical worldview recognizes a Creator who established moral laws and absolute truth as revealed in the Bible. Man, made in God’s image, is priceless.

Our founding fathers established this nation upon the Biblical worldview as evidenced by John Adam’s statement, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people.” Or James Madison’s statement: “We have staked the whole future of American civilization, not upon the power of government … but upon the capacity of mankind for self-government, upon the capacity of each and all of us to govern ourselves, to control ourselves, to sustain ourselves according to the 10 Commandments of God.”

For the first time in America’s history, we have a president who has no understanding of the Biblical worldview and who has even less understanding of the truths of the Bible. This is evident when he says that support for homosexual “marriage” [unions] can be found in the Sermon on the Mount or that certain passages in Romans are just obscure passages. Whereas George Washington expelled from his military those who practiced sodomy, President Obama honors sodomites by proclaiming an entire month as Gay Pride Month, but he won’t acknowledge one day for our National Day of Prayer.

This is so delusional that you really wonder how the woman was re-elected.
We have a president who doesn’t know the difference between God-given rights and sinful, perverted behavior. The Biblical worldview teaches that all are created equal and worthy of respect but it also teaches that some behaviors, such as homosexuality, are wrong because they violate God’s moral law.

Today many in our churches and even many ministers have forsaken belief in absolute truth and are instead reinterpreting the Bible to justify their behavior. This leads to acceptance of anything and everything.

While conservatives attack the symptoms, like homosexuality or abortion, and these behaviors should be exposed and attacked; however, we should love the people involved in these behaviors and tell them God has a better way.

While conservatives attack the symptoms, those who don’t believe in or appreciate the uniqueness of America, our president included, are attacking the foundation of absolute truth, seeking to destroy it through teaching evolution and tolerance for deviant behaviors.

Our founding fathers understood that if a nation is to provide safety and the pursuit of happiness for its citizens, the Judeo-Christian worldview must be maintained. George Washington said, “Of all the habits and dispositions that lead to political prosperity religion and morality are indispensable supports.”

The Bible states, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” God is saying that if the people will practice morality, He will provide the prosperity.

Today we have a national moral crisis and leading the charge against religion and morality is the homosexual agenda with the president carrying their water.

Republicans lost control of Congress because they acted like Democrats. They forgot their conservative roots.  But the issue is not whether you’re a Republican, Democrat or whatever.  The issue is that if you believe in Judeo-Christian values, you need to wake up and wake up soon before it’s too late.

John Witherspoon, signer of the Declaration of Independence, said, “A republic … must either preserve its virtue or lose its liberty.” It’s time to realize that the homosexual agenda is a real threat to the liberties of all who believe in Judeo-Christian values.

We the People of Oklahoma, Invoking the guidance of Almighty God, in order to secure and perpetuate the blessing of Liberty; to secure just and rightful Government; to promote our mutual Welfare and Happiness, do establish this proclamation and call upon the people of the great State of Oklahoma, and our fellow Patriots in these United States of America who look to the Lord for guidance, to acknowledge the need for a national awakening of righteousness in our land.

WHEREAS, "It is Religion and Morality alone, which can establish the Principles upon which Freedom can securely stand" (John Adams); and

WHEREAS, "We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by Religion and Morality" (John Adams); and

WHEREAS, grieved that the Office of the president of these United States has refused to uphold the long held tradition of past presidents in giving recognition to our National Day of Prayer; and

WHEREAS, deeply disturbed that the Office of the president of these United States disregards the biblical admonitions to live clean and pure lives by proclaiming an entire month to an immoral behavior;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that we the undersigned elected officials of the people of Oklahoma, religious leaders and citizens of the State of Oklahoma, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world, solemnly declare that the HOPE of the great State of Oklahoma and of these United States, rests upon the Principles of Religion and Morality as put forth in the HOLY BIBLE; and

BE IT RESOLVED that we, the undersigned, believers in the One True God and His only Son, call upon all to join with us in recognizing that "Blessed is the Nation whose God is the Lord," and humbly implore all who love Truth and Virtue to live above reproach in the sight of God and man with a firm reliance on the leadership and protection of Almighty God; and

BE IT RESOLVED that we, the undersigned, humbly call upon Holy God, our Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer, to have mercy on this nation, to stay His hand of judgment, and grant a national awakening of righteousness and Christian renewal as we repent of our great sin.

Republican Left Focus
 I was shocked that ALL Republicans won last year. The evidence of their hypocracy was well publicized and they still won. I really feel that they won because the Oklahoman's that were against these candidates, like "Gun Totin' Sally", focused so much energy into defeating them, that they actually gave energy to their campaigns. I hope everyone learns from this unfortunate election, that what is important to talk about and focus on is who we DO want to be in office. Therefore giving the maximum amount of energy towards competant candidates.

Um, she is aware that Noah Webster wasn't actually one of the "Founding Fathers," isn't she?

(In fact, I just checked Wikipedia, and it turns out Webster was a student at Yale during the Revolution and personally never held elective office of any kind.  But I'm sure the Founding Fathers consulted him on ALL kinds of issues.)

There's a subset of political fundies who place great store in Noah Webster.
It all has to do with his dictionary, which was heavily relied upon early on in our country's history.  That dictionary's definitions draw very heavily from the Bible.

Obama has not made much movement on LGBT issues, and already the religious right is on the attack. This is precisely the strategy they will use to regain power if the Obama admin is not careful. This is precisely why I've suggested that they need a big victory on one of their social  policy initiatives that has benefits for all Americans before he goes anywhere near the LGBT issues

Education would be a good one
Leaving aside the steaming pile of homophobic bullshit from Miss Sally Kern, what outrages me even more is that they teach out and out lies like this:

In fact, many of the Founding Fathers thought quite the contrary about "the Judeo-Christian worldview."

The problem here: Education, like marriage, also falls under "states rights." From what I understand, the only way in which there could be any sort of national education standards in anything is through the passage of a constitutional amendment.

The Religious Right has poisoned the well of all sorts of trash in the education of students including American history.

Its got nothing to do...
with Oklahoma and everything to do with RNC strategy. The absolute LAST thing the President needs is for the American people to get the impression that the President is more interested in making gay marriage legal than he is in providing health care or dealing with other critical issues.

The RNC is very good at using "teh queerz" as the proverbial boogy man to middle America. It did not work in 2008 because people had larger concerns and wanted someone to deal with their issues (which the GOP is not capable of addressing). Dealing with LGBT issues before he's properly addressed the other vital economic and social issues facing the country only gives them ammunition.

They'll attack Obama's "radical homosexualist agenda" even if he tries to get right-wing homophobic talking points written into Supreme Court decisions as precedent.  So in order to maintain power (in a completely policy-nonspecific sort of way), we should encourage him to...what?  Disinvite us from the next White House Easter Egg Roll in exchange for a vague promise from some of his distant supporters that he might consider supporting a few rights for us at some point in the future when there are no more Republicans?

Heres why their silent about that Founding Father:

Of course they cant think to hard about the past, then they might have to admit that in America Christianity was used to justify bigotry against more than gays, the SBC exists because christians found support for slavery in the bible, something sally and other modern christians will never admit to. Why is Sally even in a position of power? The bible is pretty clear on women and their place in the home, but that was just men who read it to support their sexism right? They were totally wrong in saying women should be subservient right? But theirs no way mainstream christianity will EVER accept gays right? I mean those 5 or so passages condemming it couldn't possibly get ignored like the passages sanctioning slavery and women being baby factories.  


Democracy not Theocracy.

Lies, and the Lying Liars that Tell Them
You know, it would almost be funny if it weren't so damned serious, that there are people who are this crazy or this ignorant running our country.

First of all, what she is advocating is what the people of Iran are trying to throw off as we speak. A theocracy, run by people who will kill you if you disagree with the "government of god" because to defy said government is to defy "god", is certainly nothing that we want here.

Secondly, our founding fathers knew what mixing politics with religion did to Europe. They didn't want that here. The massacres, the pogroms, the Auto da Fe's, the burnings at the stake of heretics and "witches", and the wars caused by it. That's why they advocated for a separation of church and state, Jefferson's own words.

Perhaps Mrs. Kern should ask herself just which version of Christianity would be in charge of our government, if that's really what she wants. Catholics? Southern Baptists? Unitarians? Episcopals? I mean, come on. How stupid do you have to be, to fail to see the ramifications of promoting such drivel?

If they want to expose homosexuality, I would encourage them to start within their own ranks, particularly among the ranks of those who are most adamantly condemning homosexuality.  They should collaborate with the Catholic Church to get this done, since both bodies have the habit of some members condemning homosexuality in public while practicing it avidly in private.

Ms. Legislator says:

"WHEREAS, "When you...exercise the right of voting for public officers, let it be impressed upon your mind that God commands you to choose just men who will rule in the fear of God" (Noah Webster); and"

For a long time, particularly, before women gained the right to vote in 1922, the US did elect "just men" and no women or Blacks.  Sorry, but her quotes don't fill me with reverence;  they only remind me of where I wouldn't want to be, like in the Colonial United States or in Oklahoma, where this woman publishes this crap and gets elected to office.

She says,

Whereas this nation has become a world leader in promoting abortion, pornography, same sex marriage, sex trafficking, divorce, illegitimate births, child abuse, and many other forms of debauchery;

She might be right about the above.  I wonder how it happened, with so many God-fearing Christians writing the nation's founding documents?

Maybe we can ask Governor Sanford of South Carolina and Argentina to help us all get back on the right track.


More fake "quotes" and general falsehoods
Of course, like most Dominionists, she doesn't bother to check (or else doesn't care) if the people she claims to be quoting ever actually said those things.

Most of the Founding Fathers' "quotes" she lists are easily debunked with a quick Google search, and seem to all trace back to the Right's favorite pseudo-historian, David Barton.  Even Barton has been forced to admit some of the cases where his citations are bunk.  Nearly all of these are things that were either never said by the people they are attributed to, can't actually be substantiated, or are so taken out of context as to lose their meaning.

And if Kern were to take even 2 minutes to check, she would find that President Obama, like several Presidents before him, did in fact sign a National Day of Prayer proclamation.  What he didn't do was follow in the footsteps of his immediate predecessor and make a big White House event out of it complete with invites to Religious Right leaders.  Of course, neither did any of the Presidents before Bush the younger.
