The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

SC First Lady Jenny Sanford: Mark Has Earned A Second Chance

by: Louise

Wed Jun 24, 2009 at 18:04:08 PM EDT

7pm update: King Rush weighed in on Mark Sanford, saying "Republicans like sex, too."

Predictably, yet another update: emails between Sanford and his lover have surfaced.

What mind-boggling is that they were discovered quite awhile ago (December 2008!) and not released until AFTER today's presser...

===========================================

OMFG; you can't make this sh*t up some days..

Some excerpts:

Statement from First Lady Jenny Sanford

I would like to start by saying I love my husband and I believe I have put forth every effort possible to be the best wife I can be during our almost twenty years of marriage. As well, for the last fifteen years my husband has been fully engaged in public service to the citizens and taxpayers of this state and I have faithfully supported him in those efforts to the best of my ability.

It is for that reason that I deeply regret the recent actions of my husband Mark, and their potential damage to our children.

I believe wholeheartedly in the sanctity, dignity and importance of the institution of marriage. When I found out about my husband's infidelity I worked immediately to first seek reconciliation through forgiveness, and then to work diligently to repair our marriage.

I believe enduring love is primarily a commitment and an act of will, and for a marriage to be successful, that commitment must be reciprocal. I believe Mark has earned a chance to resurrect our marriage.

Psalm 127 states that sons are a gift from the Lord and children a reward from Him. I will continue to pour my energy into raising our sons to be honorable young men. I remain willing to forgive Mark completely for his indiscretions and to welcome him back, in time, if he continues to work toward reconciliation with a true spirit of humility and repentance.

Bless her heart...

Below the fold, some excerpts of Sanford's recent interview regarding the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal.

Louise :: SC First Lady Jenny Sanford: Mark Has Earned A Second Chance
This interview occurred just a few weeks ago on June 4th, mind you...

QUESTION: Was impeachment the-- looking back, was that the work-- the necessary work of Conservatives and the Conservative movement? Or was that a detour and a distraction from what Conservatives really should've been-- been doing at that time.

SANFORD: It was blown into a huge constitutional issue which if a president's lying, it's a big deal. It is a constitutional issue. But it missed the larger point of human nature. You ask any guy, particularly one in office, you've been screwing around on your wife -- maybe there's 1 percent or maybe there's 2 percent or maybe there's 5 percent. But 95 percent of the time, whoever it is, is gonna say 'no.' And so, I think the public said no matter what Clinton did, whether he did or he didn't do whatever it was that happened with Monica Lewinsky, is that guy gonna stand up and admit it. They said no, he's not.

SANFORD: The conservatism, if you -- if you boil it down to the absolute basic, it is about maximizing individual liberty, maximizing individual freedom, of preserving a political system wherein one is able to make free decisions, some of which will be stupid, some of which will be smart and to live with the consequences of those decisions.

QUESTION: But what-- what was your sense that I have to do this, or were you getting political pressure from groups at home to vote for it? Or?

SANFORD: I would say it was-- something that people were excited about back home. People were talking about it. Again, the people you hear from at times, they-- they can be a vocal minority. But people were incensed. I mean, I think that there were enough sordid details to get people genuinely ticked off at-- the irreverence for the office.

Counting down until the past week's bizarre behavior and actions force Sanford to resign...

Are we sure she's not stoned?

Or I suppose it's possible she's just this deluded....

More like...
She doesn't want to be stoned by the fundie wingnuts (see Dawn Gibbons in Nevada) who will blame her for "hurting family values" by leaving her husband and his cheatin' heart.

Act on Principles and make equality happen.

[ Parent ]
True
I hadn't considered that angle.  She is getting some nasty bad press around here.

[ Parent ]
Not surprised.
Her statement reminds me of Don Sherwood's wife's after his affair became public knowledge several years ago, right down to the "I've forgiven him" rhetoric.

My money is on the "she forgave him so you aren't allowed to criticize him" line coming out when he next runs for election as it did in PA then.  Fortunately, it wasn't enough to save the seat then (went from "such a sure bet it wasn't worth party resources" to "such a long shot it's not worth party resources.")

[ Parent ]
It's kind of sadly hilarious to say "I've forgiven him."
Really, you know just 48 hours ago he was banging the woman, right?

(I mean, I'm all for forgiveness, but you sure got there quick.)

[ Parent ]
Gimme a break.
I believe wholeheartedly in the sanctity, dignity and importance of the institution of marriage.

And how the hell is your marriage more sacred than those that your state government refuses to recognize?

Act on Principles and make equality happen.

No, no, no. Their marriage was fine until all teh GAYZ
started getting married! Everyone knows that's the biggest threat to traditional marriage!

Remember what FDR said, "I agree with you, I want to do it, now make me do it." Have you written/called a congress-critter today? 8.25, 6.21

[ Parent ]
Well
A lot of people with cheating spouses choose to stay and reconcile. I don't see the big deal. It's her decision.

Maybe she's planning a Senate run? :)

Shazam
"Maybe she's planning a Senate run?"

LOLOL... No matter how serious things get around here, there's always an opportunity for a bit of comic relief. Thanks

[ Parent ]
You say dedicated, I say diluted.
I don't mean to disparage anyone's point of view in general, but... if anyone believes in the so called sanctity of marriage here, its obviously not her husband. Its such utter tripe I find it difficult to even consider. If she were angling for a bigger alamony payment I'd understand, but otherwise this statement is merely letting someone who swindled her most of all about this "family values" crap off the hook.In all honesty, I feel worse for her now.

"So. What have we learned? We have learned the first lesson. They will always hate us... We must give the ordinary humans respect, compliance, and understanding. And we must never mistake that for trust." - Emma Frost, Astonishing X-Men, 1

Reporters better be asking a lot of questions
The public deserved to know whether or not Sanford engaged in safe sex or intentionally put his lover and his own family at risk for HIV. The tax payers have a right to know the specific conduct of this pig and if he put anyone in danger of contracting a sexually transmitted disease or if the woman could have become impregnated.

"I believe Mark has earned a chance to resurrect our marriage."
By abandoning his sons on Father's Day to run off for a week with his married Argentine mistress?

Well, then I guess it's lucky he did that very thing!  Because this marriage would be ov-ah if he had, I don't know, not abandoned every single one of his personal and professional responsiblities and chose not to commit a series of possible crimes and definite christian sins last week!  That was a close one for the Sanford's sacred marriage!

Another infidelity
Yes, these people are big hypocrites, but this is her choice, even if it is for political expediency. Just look at Bill and Hillary.

Time to Stand! ProtestForHumanRighs.com

[ Parent ]
I loved it when Bill disappeared from the White House for a week!
The point is you can't say something utterly stupidly meaningless and expect everyone to nod their heads solemnly out of respect for the sacredness of it all.

How did Sanford earn this chance?  Was it by turning her into a liar who covered for him with the press?  Seriously, what did Sanford do to "earn" his chance?  She brought it up and now I want to know.

At any rate, once he's out of office the sacredness should last another six months tops.

[ Parent ]
Good thing he's got his marriage and his mistress, because those e-mails just cost him his career.
Thank you SO much for the link!  I just have one question:  did he really write "world wind tour" when he meant "whirlwind tour"???

Even with all the icky-ness of the content of the e-mails, that's the worst part of it for me.  Obviously, there's no literacy test to be the governor of SC.

[ Parent ]
I wonder
if she caught the fact that the FIRST person he confessed to hurting was the mistress.

You know
I feel for them as a family in the context of a personal matter. But it's hard for me to go beyond bare sympathy because since they are "christians" and "people of faith" they are allowed to judge us as unworthy of marriage and legal rights as a family. And Sanford has gone out of his way to demonize us through anti-gay votes and making it quite clear that he considers us inferior through his bigoted handling of the SC is so Gay Ad dustup last year.

So Sorry, I ain't losing sleep over their issues. Maybe this will give them some perspective in casting judgment on our lives. But I highly doubt it.

Hmmm.
I believe wholeheartedly in the sanctity, dignity and importance of the institution of marriage.

She's mistaken in thinking there is dignity in her marriage.

But I'll give her a couple of points for believing in the importance of marriage.

The affair and the second chance
I would think it is far too early for him to be demonstrating "remorse" and "working towards reconciliation."  He's remorseful because he got caught.

Still; however, his wife has the right to give him that second chance whether we agree with the decision or not.  And that decision has absolutely nothing to do with LGBT rights. It is her personal decision towards him.  Perhaps it is out of fear of retribution from the fundies (however looking at fundies track record of destroying their own marriages I doubt that.)

She really believes in what she is saying, and the christian story is indeed one of second chances despite how they arbitrarily apply it.

I hope she can walk this path she has chosen. It demonstrates a grace being given that we are denied. Let's not denigrate that gift of grace no matter how we think it is undeserved (see definition of grace.)

It is a gift. It is hers to give.

I disagree. People should always strive for excellence.
It's a sad commentary when those who try and fail and criticized more harshly than those who don't even try.  Democrats lead Republicans 5 to 1 in congressional affairs since 1965, but the bright light is always shined on the relatively few Republicans who fail.

[ Parent ]
And I disagree
This is not a matter of "striving for excellence"; it is a matter of personal and professional honesty imo. But go ahead and see it as a box score option- have fun with that, and welcome to the Blend!

Maybe nobody would be giddy if he wasn't a world-class hypocrite who's used his power to destroy the lives of people who are better than him?
Actually, I take that back -- he's not a world-class hypocrite.  Considering he's the first christian conservative family-values governor ever to abandon his entire state along with his family, I'd have to say this puts him in a class by himself.

It's so good he didn't lie, either -- oh, wait!  That's right -- he got his family and employees to lie for him.  Oh, wait again -- then he lied once he got back to the United States of America from his visiting his exotic foreign mistress.

And if you're really trying to convince people that Clinton wasn't relentlessly attacked by the press over everything he ever did or did not do, you either need to be addressing a board for amnesiacs, toddlers or right-wing crazies.

[ Parent ]
I don't understand the mechanism going on here.
Two people do the same cheating on their spouses, but one is a worse person because he made a conscious effort to take a stand, but slipped?  And the other guy who never took a stand and never tried to do the right thing is somehow better?  The guy who tried and failed is labeled a hypocrite, and that offense trumps the adultery itself.  Is that it?

The left made every excuse in the book for Clinton.  Don't you remember?  "It was just about sex"  "It's a private matter."  "It's none of our business."  It has nothing to do with his job performance." "Ken Starr is a pervert."

[ Parent ]
I remember it clearly
Sanford was calling for Clinton to resign.  Sanford can start rebuilding his reputation by resigning and returning to private life.  I'm sure that there are any number of rightwing "pro-family" organizations that will use him as a spokesman.

# Duty, duty -- honor is, is --
Honor, Creideiki -- alertly
# Shared, is -- Honor #

[ Parent ]
Clinton was asked to resign because he lied under oath.
He perjured himself and suborned perjury.  With Sanford, to use an old tired phrase, "it was just about sex".

[ Parent ]
No, because "if we can't trust him not to cheat on his wife"
"how can we trust him to run the government?"

Must be really hard to have the self-appointed job to defend Republican douchebags.  Then again, it probably keeps you busy.

# Duty, duty -- honor is, is --
Honor, Creideiki -- alertly
# Shared, is -- Honor #

[ Parent ]
But yet that logic didn't apply to Clinton
Must wear you out to justify your double standard.

[ Parent ]
I don't have a double standard
However, if someone argues that someone should quit government service because of infidelity, and then commits adultery on the public dime, then maybe that reek you smell isn't what you left behind in the toilet.

# Duty, duty -- honor is, is --
Honor, Creideiki -- alertly

Rush Limbaugh had some, um, intersting comments today
BTW, who whipped up this batch of schaudenfreude? Delicious...

After the next commercial break, Rush returned with commentary on the breaking news of the moment: Gov. Sanford's admission of an extramarital affair. Sounding rather disappointed, el RushBo's initial reaction was that "Republicans like sex, too."

He continued, saying this was "inexplicable" and "unthinkable," but also explaining that "lust" is the one thing you can't control. And, of course, as always, Rush used the opportunity to lash out at Democrats: "But I'll tell you what: If he were a Democrat, it'd be a resume enhancement. It has been a resume enhancement for many years. If he were a Democrat, James Carville and Paul Begala would be out attacking this woman today; we'd find out who she was; she'd be plastered all over as trailer trash."

=================================================

Oh, and it's worth noting -- not that we're geography or bossa nova snobs or anything -- that while Rush repeatedly joked that Sanford went down to Ipanema, Ipanema is actually in Brazil, and Brazil is not in Argentina.

After another break, Rush closed out the program with more commentary on Sanford. When Republicans come out with affairs, said Rush, no one catches them.

He also observed that Ensign and Sanford announced their affairs without their wives by their side, unlike Eliot Spitzer. Then Rush played the audio of "info babe" Kyra Phillips' "hissy fit," saying that Phillips "probably defended" Bill Clinton during the Lewinsky scandal. So there's the logic, if it can be called that -- Phillips "probably defended" Clinton, therefore she can't say anything about Sanford.

Rush can't be bothered to actually, you know, check anything that Phillips said, because there's a "point" to be made that can't be encumbered by "facts."

Call me crazy...
Call me crazy but I think in the end this story is crazier than it sounds. That ho is in the know. She knew about her husband's affair and probably has been done with him enough to appreciate letting him go out and play rather than come to her for his needs.

Nevermind her lack of surprise that her man disappears for inopportune moments of time, she isn't surprised. He comes back from out of the country while she is stuck home with all of his babies, no surprise there either. He has been involved in an affair--not a blip on the old excito-meter.

But I will say this much. She surprised the hell out of me when she used the term "indescretions" rather than "indescretion" in her public statement. Not only does she know, she knows about other ones, putting her way ahead of us!

Always thinking about it...

Was it an inside job?
The press is now obligated to inquire as to whether one or more of the four sons might be gay. Sanford has insisted that homosexuals are a threat to the sanctity of marriage. Could his own marriage have been weakened by an evil homosexual right inside the confines of his home?

The press also needs to find out if he practiced safe sex and what acts he engaged in. Its necessary to know this to determine what risk he may have put his wife and family in and also if there was risk of HIV with his Argentinian partner. Sanford believes there is good reason to have an HIV travel ban, so it is only fair to determine if he might have brought the virus back into the USA.

Funny parody of Sanford news conference
Leaked: Travelin' Governor Sanford's Press Conference Remarks

"The Village Voice has obtained an advance copy of the remarks that recently-missing South Carolina governor Mark Sanford will make at today's 2 p.m. press conference.
Good afternoon. Or, should I say, ¡buenas tardes!

As you all know, there has been a bit of confusion about my whereabouts since Thursday. I have to admit, I'm flattered by all the attention from the liberal elite media. Never has the New York Times been so concerned with my well-being.

Luckily I don't answer to them, or to that gay guy on CNN or that lesbian chick on MSNBC, but rather to the freedom-loving American people, who understand that without our fine young men and women of the armed forces, I would never have been able to take a vacation to Argentina or the Appalachian trail. So, above all else, I want to thank the troops. Without them, there would be no Father's Day... "

COLUMBIA, S.C. - A dayslong absence by South Carolina's governor left fellow state leaders scratching their heads.

Lt. Gov. Andrew Bauer said he'd been rebuffed by the governor's staff when he tried to find out where Sanford was and had not been put in charge in his absence.

"I cannot take lightly that his staff has not had communication with him for more than four days, and that no one, including his own family, knows his whereabouts," said Bauer.

I don't recognize Adultery-Marriages...
The second it goes from one-man-one-woman to one-man-two-women or two-women-one-man, or one-man-one-woman-one-turtle-or-whatever, that marriage is invalid.

So, these two people are not to be thought of as a "married" couple, but not only that, their ENTIRE marriage must become illegitimate meaning that their children would also be considered illegitimate, all the sex they ever had is nothing but fornication, etc...  They should be subject to charges of fraud from their state for applying for a marriage license too.

That's kind of a hilarious talking point
Adultery-Marriage needs to be banned! It's hurting Traditional Marriage. Let's take a vote, those found cheating on their spouses will find their marriages dissolved and they will be barred from ever marrying again.

[ Parent ]
well hey she has the right to stand by her asshole
I mean man. She's making her choices, so fine.

Now if both of them and sanctimonious religitards can stay the F out of my life and stop denying me the right to marry we'll coexist well.

POTENTIAL damage to the children?
lady, the damage is done.

I believe wholeheartedly in the sanctity, dignity and importance of the institution of marriage.

well, that's great, even though it's an empty cliche.  the "dignity" of marriage isn't the piece of paper that merely makes it a legal relationship.  the dignity lies within that relationship itself and there's a shitload of marriages out there that just ain't got it, and that includes the sanfords.  mutal respect and equal partnership is what makes a healthy relationship that is crucial for a dignified, sacred marriage, not the magic penis-vagina combination so upheld by people like the sanfords.  as long as people fail to recognize that, marriages like theirs will continue to fail because they are anything BUT dignified and sacred.

and this is a failed marriage, even if it does stay together.  the children are the collateral holding this sham together, and that's what's really sad.  the family values crowd is certainly good at fucking up kids.

The gays stole my lunch money

Psalm 127, per FireDogLake
is essentially a public sledgehammer to the Gov's nads..

(As an atheist, I missed this one)

Now for the big guns:

I believe enduring love is primarily a commitment and an act of will, and for a marriage to be successful, that commitment must be reciprocal. I believe Mark has earned a chance to resurrect our marriage.

Psalm 127 states that sons are a gift from the Lord and children a reward from Him. I will continue to pour my energy into raising our sons to be honorable young men. I remain willing to forgive Mark completely for his indiscretions and to welcome him back, in time, if he continues to work toward reconciliation with a true spirit of humility and repentance.

Psalm 127 is at the heart of the "Quiverfull" folks -- a far right evangelical movement, devoted to extreme patriarchal gender roles, homeschooling, and of course they are against any form of birth control or abortion.

Hauling out Psalm 127 is hitting Mark Sanford across the head with a two by four in evangelical circles. "God gave you these boys as a gift, and you scorned it. You mocked it. You treated them like dirt, and in so doing you treated God like dirt. You didn't just disrespect me -- you disrespected God.

 God. God."

I was picturing Sanford as Augustino Magaldi, the oily tango singer
That immortal sequence where Che sees him coming out of the hotel and asks, "Do all your one-night stands give you this trouble?"

EVA's FAMILY: She really brightened up your out-of-town engagement. She gave you all she had, she wasn't in your contract. You must be quite relieved that no one's told the papers -- so far!

Oh, and the lead soprano
... singing "Can't help loving that man of mine." Duet between Mrs. S. and Senorita X., maybe a tango.

Republics Ecstatic The SC Govorner Has Hetersexual Affair
He will just ask forgiveness and be taken back into the fold. After all, it would be much worse if he had had a gay affair.

Some bad jokes I heard today
"Well at least Mark Sanford agrees with Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor about the value of a 'wise Latina woman'"

"Somewhere in Alaska Sarah Palin is marking the air and saying, 'another one down, almost there.'"

"So, the Republican's only hope is Charlie Crist. Well at least he's a safe choice, since no one has even seen a woman near him."

nothing new at this time.....

collateral damage
We have, for your viewing pleasure, a concurrent scandal involving Silvio Berlusconi of Italy and an assortment of well-paid personal services assistants.

He was holding discussions about exchange rates, that was all.

Charlie Crist Almighty, what a week!

That hotel I'd shine a black light on, it for unsightly stains

Having grown up in a fundie lifestyle (and yeah - fundamentailism
unlike sexual orientation and gender identity, is a choice - I can understand Jenny Sanford's position.  She has no choice, no option.  Without her dual titles as "Mrs. Sanford" and "mother", she has no value.  Likely, she was reared to believe that.

So, pity, not scorn, is her lot in life now.

After Sanford, Let's End Hypocrisy and Promote Equality..Christine Pelosi
"Of course we feel sympathy for his family -- clearly his wife and kids are the innocents in this sad saga. And we also feel sympathy for the tens of thousands of families affected by Sanford's anti-privacy, anti-choice, anti-gay policies.

This is a teachable moment: no LGBT couple, no gay marriage threatened Mark Sanford's marriage, even though he threatened theirs. How many more Sanfords until the GOP decides to drop the hopelessly hypocritical opposition to privacy rights and marriage equality?

Enough is enough. Let's end hypocrisy and promote equality."

"..... earned a chance to resurrect our marriage"???
Honey, he doesn't want to resurrect his marriage!  Didn't you read his emails?  He's found his soulmate, and it's not you.

All the RNC has left to run in 2012
Sally Kern/Virginia Foxx

No self-awareness
Sanford is getting praised in some press circles for being human and vulnerable in his press conference (I found him maudlin, diffuse and weird).  Given his recent stance rejecting money that would have helped his state (while he was having a supposedly soul-wrenching affair), he seems to  still lack true self-awareness and insight.  Listen to his definition of Conservatism:

The conservatism, if you -- if you boil it down to the absolute basic, it is about maximizing individual liberty, maximizing individual freedom, of preserving a political system wherein one is able to make free decisions, some of which will be stupid, some of which will be smart and to live with the consequences of those decisions.

That in no way squares with bans against gay marriage, fighting a woman's right to choose and a whole host of civil rights issues. My prediction is that though he may have been humbled, he's likely only to become more rigid in his beliefs and politics.
