The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Professional right-wing, ex-gay extremist groups band together to form the 'Freedom Federation'

by: Pam Spaulding

Tue Jun 30, 2009 at 13:15:00 PM EDT

This is what you do when the times get tight in bigot world -- you join forces as to ride out the recession and regime change to keep the social conservative agenda viable until a return to power. Of course they are going to lose the war, but they are going to do everything in their power to slow the advancement of anything remotely resembling equality. The groups are holding a press conference today at the National Press Club. Take a look at this who's who list of A-Z list winger orgs:
The Freedom Federation is a new and unique federation of some of the largest multi-ethnic and transgenerational faith-based organizations in the country committed to plan, strategize, and work together on common interests within the Judeo-Christian tradition to mobilize their grassroots constituencies and to communicate faith and values to the religious, social, cultural, and policymaking institutions.

WHO:
--  American Association of Christian Counselors -  its mission is to "equip clinical, pastoral, and lay care-givers with Biblical truth and psycho-social insights"

--  American Family Association - here at the Blend we already know about Don and Tim Wildmon's Tupelo, MS-based hate brigade

--  Americans for Prosperity -- free market, small tax crowd

--  Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny (BOND) - headed up by Faux News favorite anti-gay, anti-black token negro Jesse Lee Peterson.

--  Campaign for Working Families - failed presidential candidate and failed flapjack flipper Gary Bauer's hangout

--  Catholic Online - mission is "to accurately represent the Catholic religion: its "past" and present."

--  Concerned Women for America - Another favorite fringe group here at the Blend.

--  Conservative Action Project - Arkansas-based free market, low tax org

   --  Eagle Forum - Mother Schlafly's birdnest

--  Exodus International - ruining LGBTQI lives daily.

--  Faith and Action - Rob Schenck, who anoints Senate Judicial hearing rooms with oil, says his org is "America's only Christian outreach across the street from the United States Supreme Court"

--  Family Research Council - Tony Perkins den of bigotry in the name of "family."

--  High Impact Leadership Coalition - Bishop Harry Jackson, late of trying to stop marriage equality recognition in DC.

--  Liberty Alliance Action - the successor org  to Falwell's Moral Majority. Very LGBT-obsessed.

--  Liberty Counsel - Bam Bam Barber's and Mat Staver's lair.

   --  Liberty University - more Falwell-based "education"

--  Life Education and Resource Network (LEARN) - a group of Indiana homeschooling families from Bloomington and Monroe County

--  Marc Nuttle - author of a tome called Moment of Truth, "a clarion call for conservative America to take a stand today for the future the country."

--  Morning Star Ministries - Rick and Julie Joyner's ministry's goal is to "provide the household of faith with the highest quality spiritual food that is timely, or "meat in due season."

--  National Clergy Council - Rob Schenck, AGAIN

--  National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference - will lead the Hispanic born-again community in America for the purpose of transforming our culture, preserving our Judeo Christian Value System and building the spiritual, intellectual and social/political capital within the Hispanic American Community.

--  Renewing American Leadership - I have no idea what this is, but it has a dormant web site. Right Wing Watch says this is Newt Gingrich's new parking space.

--  Strang Communications - it's "a multi-media communications company focused on spreading the name and fame of Jesus throughout the world through the mass media."

--  Teen Mania - Ron Luce's organization; his call to action is to retake America from the "virtue terrorists" (gays, pro-choice supporters, etc.) is "Battle Cry."

--  The Call to Action - not sure about this one Kyle at RWW says this is Lou Engle's new hole-in-the-wall.

--  Traditional Values Coalition - possibly the most hateful anti-LGBT organization out there, Lou Sheldon sets a new standard for peddling fear-based ignorance.

UPDATE: You have to read this post from Kyle at Right Wing Watch about this new org.
Wow - did they put this coalition together by going through our list of right-wing organizations and simply inviting all the groups and individuals we write about most frequently to join?  Sorry,  Christian Anti-Defamation Commission  - if only we had written about you a few more times, maybe you would have been deemed worthy of inclusion in this ground-breaking new effort by the Religious Right ... to do whatever it is this new organization is going to do.

Honestly, what purpose can this possibly serve?  Are the Council for National Policy and the Arlington Group somehow lacking and so these groups decided that what they really needed was yet another coalition to carry out the same work?

Ex Gay Watch's David Roberts managed to get a quote from Alan Chambers of Exodus on the project. Read it below the fold.
Pam Spaulding :: Professional right-wing, ex-gay extremist groups band together to form the 'Freedom Federation'
Keyboard protection ON:
I am attending a meeting today for the formation of a new conservative coalition made up of a wide variety of groups on a wide variety of topics. Because there will be focus on gay and lesbian issues I was invited to join the coalition and to speak. My stated purpose for being there is not to rejoin the policy debates or to engage Exodus in them. We have made great efforts over the last two years to be a ministry focused on spiritual renewal and not political renewal. We know that nations change when the hearts of people change. Today when I address this group, some of whom are friends that I deeply respect, I will do so, ironically, on behalf of the gay community. My overwhelming message will be that God is deeply in love with the most adversarial of gay activists and that as these groups do battle over policy they must never forget that fact.

I was asked to speak at the follow up press event, which is the notice you received, and decided instead to serve only as a testimony to my conservative colleagues in a meeting prior, which I believe will serve as a reminder that it is God's kindness that leads to repentance. I imagine there will those who shout amen when I speak today and those who will write me off because I am no longer activist material. Either way, I hope at the end of the day what I share encourages my fellow Christians to treat others as they would like to be treated and when they find someone who is struggling with unwanted homosexuality that they will think of Exodus.

I wonder if they will rent a nice office in DC and bunk out together?

Ever notice how they gravitate towards...
...words like 'liberty' and 'freedom' when their primary goals seem to be the restriction of those two ideals for other people?

Simply Orwellian.
And here I thought 1984 was a work of fiction.  Seems it wasn't, but was only off by 20 years.

Freedom = Freedom from Freedom

Freedom for conservative evangelicals is defined as freedom from other people, their values, and their religious beliefs and practices.

People are not considered truly free so long as their own insecure values are threatened by the existence of incorrect beliefs, values, and behaviors.

This what the conservative evangelical code phrase "freedom in Christ" means: Freedom from people who view Christ, society, and the world differently from oneself.

Huh?
Freedom Federation?  Shouldn't that read Fascist Federation?  They just won't go away.
Keep exposing them Pam:  Guns in the pews, venom in the pulpit, twisted logic..........

Of course
Everything is double speak and euphemism in Right Wing World. They should all come with disclaimers. Welcome to the Family Institute*.

Money
The name of a group is of great consideration when fundraising is involved.  Who would give money to these groups if their actions were reflected in their names?

shared office space?
They will likely keep a mailbox in the den of hate which many of them currently occupy near Gallery Place.

Where's GOProud?
I'm shocked they're not on the list.

Until now I would have denied that there was the basis for a mass fascist movement.
This creates the beginnings of an organizational basis for the growth of fascism, although in my opinion these are competing, not compatible groups. We're still a long, long way from the danger of fascism becoming a mass movement. The fact that the names of southern baptist leaders, prominent right centrist Dixiecrats and Republicans, mormonians and the occasional archbishop are not on this list shows how far they have to go.

Nevertheless this is a wake up call. As Jefferson said, this is like "a fire bell in the night." A deep polarization accompanied by a widespread radicalization is shattering the American consensus because of the inexorable damage of the economic collapse and unwinnable wars. If we remain dependent to any extent on the center right Democrats and the fringe right Republicans we'll be helpless in the face of events.

The Dallas Principles are a step forward. Calls for a March on Washington are a step forward. But we need it all. We need a nationwide, militant, internally democratic mass action LGBT group openly and resolutely independent of the Democrats and Republicans.

The looter rich much prefer working with Democrats like Obama and the Clintons - they're greedier, they fool more people and they're able to get away with a lot more than Republicans.

YES

It always works that way with fascists
Organising with the Churches, Right Wing Business Groups and then, finally....the Military.

They already have the Air Force.

"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross."
Or at least so said Sinclair Lewis. Two of my favorite books are his It Can't Happen Here and Elmer Gantry. Both 70 or 80 years old and as up to date as you can get.

You're right about the USAF. Their academy is a hot bed of ultrarightists. I suppose it has something to do with their control of 15,000 nuclear weapons and having itchy trigger fingers.

[ Parent ]
The gist of what I had to say is that this is a warning.
And only a warning. It's definitely not the begining of a mass fascist movement. They don't have a capability to do that now or in the near future.

They don't have a lot of support right now. They're seen as slightly demented and very unsavory. That will begin to change in the next few years but as things stand now people are breaking left as they radicalize, not right.

I don't mean it is a mass facist movement either Donal
Because it isn't, it is a big warning.  I just really think we need to pay attention to this.

I take back where I said in a comment
That maybe I am a little bit of an alarmist when writing about the Anti-Gay industry.
The problem with these groups is they aren't just anti-gay, but intent on influencing public policy in every area of life. And have been in the past very good at it for many years.
Most are anti-abortion and anti birth control, because they see white people not having enough children and fear losing majority status. They are anti-public school because they don't want their kids influenced by any ideas other than their own. Texas is their greatest achievement.  When they took over many Texas school boards, they became powerful enough to influence text book publishers and what is taught in the rest of the country.  Lest we forget, in the 90's they banned the concept of "required reading lists" in high school English classes.  Among the top dominionists in education politics is Robert Thoburn of Fairfax Christian School in Fairfax, Virginia. Thoburn advocates that Christians run for school board, while keeping their own children out of public schools."Your goal" (once on the board), he declares, "must be to sink the ship."
The dominionist type philosophy that they all share drives them in joining not just school boards, but running for office at the local, state and federal level.
These adherents to the dominionist philosophy nearly succeeded from 1998-2004 in achieving their goals of "Christianizing the nation."  The election of George Bush was supposed to herald in their era of "Christian based law" in our country.  But because he was such a bumbling idiot it was a big FAIL.  Except we still have leftovers in the House and the Senate, not to mention at state and local levels.
They have made their anti-gay agenda top priority because right now it is the easiest way to gain new members.
The big losses to them in 2006 and 2008 have only made the really radical dig in deeper.
All extremist parties that went on to become successful, were first discounted as a fringe group, then they began to succeed.  Many had set backs.  Then they rose again but to total power and everyone was left wondering how that happened.
Their ultimate goal is to break down the separation of church and state and then make sure the only state is the christian church.
Not only will they seek to outlaw abortion, birth control and any other religion, they will seek to re-criminalize LGBT love.  Many see the death penalty as Biblical justice for these "crimes"

There is an easy way to split them back up, a single issue that would fragment them.
Immigration Reform and Amnesty

Let's use their tactics against them.
[snark]Why not fight fire with fire?  Let's get all of the leftists, liberals, commie-pinko-wierdos, etc and we'll join their school boards even though we don't have children in the district;  we'll organize mass phone banks and crash the White House switchboard. We will spread nasty lies about what they do in their bedrooms, we will pathologize their dominionist philosophy and subject them to physical and psychological torture to "change" them.  "Religion is a choice.  If you really wanted to, you could choose to be in an affirming congregation," we'll tell them, and take out large page ads in major newspapers announcing conferences on the topic and how to convert your fundie relatives...Think it would work?[/snark]

[ Parent ]
This will be a frenzy
of jockeying for position, no? From everything I've seen, the leaders of these orgs all have amazingly large egos. I can't imagine them playing well together. I'm waiting for the fireworks the first time they don't agree on something (though I'm sure their bigotry will help keep them at least associated).

And Chambers throwing the Golden Rule around is too much. He's now a gentle father figure to the fundies?

Electricity's for light bulbs!

Not A Bad Thing
This really can't be a bad thing - bad for these creeps, maybe.

What's worse than all these people working from individual locations?  Joining together, creating the biggest nuthouse in American history!

The perverts might believe it's their last chance to destroy gay people, but I got news: they're going to destroy themselves.

No other group of people has been more efficient at scaring people away from "christianity", and this will just speed up that process.

[ Parent ]
End times for certain
For them, of course. I give that federation of silly people a metaphorical three seconds before the bickering, infighting, fraud and embezzlement (because you know where there are liars, there are thieves) bring it all crashing down. There is absolutely no way these megalomaniacs can play nice with each other.

I'm a little disappointed...
That NOM isn't on the list. Seeing their name next to Lou Sheldon's crowd would have been all the proof we needed. Nevertheless, this should be enough to discredit "respectable" groups like the American Family Association and Family Research Council once and for all.

NOM is Mormon dominated
No way that many of these groups will sit next to mormons.

I tell you Chica that no greater abomination exists than women denying their spirit of sisterhood and instead becoming the oppressor. -Rebeca, Universidad Complutense de Madrid

[ Parent ]
And not only that...
I don't see The Peter of "Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality" or Focus On My Fanny on this list, either.  And where is ex-gay James Hartline?  (Well, besides in the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego.)

Snap! Snap! Snap!

[ Parent ]
I have a question...
How many are listed as a hate group by Southern Poverty Law Center?

"Deeply In Love"?
"My overwhelming message will be that God is deeply in love with the most adversarial of gay activists and that as these groups do battle over policy they must never forget that fact."  - Alan Chambers

STALKER!

Don't LOVE someone or something that won't give you love back in return.

That's creepy!

President Obama met with the Hispanic Leadership Council
amongst other groups, primarily religious, a few days ago to discuss immigration reform.

That invite list was not kept secret.

If Catholic Online
seriously wants "to accurately represent the Catholic religion" you'd have to have a valid credit card and certify that you're over 18 to enter their site.

Cynic, n.  A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be.
-Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary

This
is what all of the GLTBQ groups need to do. Band together and work for the goals.

I wouldn't worry all that much.
There's su much diverse hate here that they'll end up fighting amongst themselves and demonstrating, for all the world to see, what they are really about.

Watch your backs, though, and keep an eye on them.
