Define 'darkness'

Well, he might have been caught off guard by the 'power of darkness' - which seems to be right between his stomach and his legs ... So tired of this BS.  

Aren't those idiots the ones who still think that Clinton should have been impeached for having sex with Monika L. and lying about it?  How about being Governor of a state and being MIA for a few days because 'the power of darkness' made him go and hook up with his girlfriend in South America?

  And there are many people willing to give him a pass for being AWOL.  I agree with you as he was derelict in his duties and the reason for that really doesn't matter.

 The real problem is these conservative pukes want to dictate how other people are supposed to live their lives, and that is according to their interpretation of the bible.  They are hypocrites, but since they claim to be christian that makes it all OK.

Neither hypocrisy nor adultery are actionable in impeachment proceedings

Clinton was impeached for lying under oath - regardless of the spin that was put on it.

And hypocrisy, while distasteful, is all to common an attribute.  If that were an acceptable criteria for dismissal from office, the halls of Congress would resemble a movie theater showing "Glitter" or "Water World".

Nope, if the goal is to hold the Governor accountable, we need to focus on the abdication thing.

true but

dereliction of duties and use of tax payer money for non-government purposes are.  he left the state without leadership for 5 days and the fact he wrote a check (after he was caught) to reimburse the state for his last trip to Argentina does not make use of state funds a legitimate and acceptable loan instead of theft.

Yeah, the girlfriend thing really shouldn't be used to get rid of him.  If someone working at McDonald's or something disappeared for a week, they wouldn't be coming back to a job.  Why should he?  If Jeffrey Immelt did the same thing, wouldn't GE stockholders and board members be clamoring for his resignation? So it must have been this same 'power of darkness' that made Sanford vote against all those gay rights issues in his state. My mistake, that was his religious beliefs that made him do that. But of course it was the devil that made him cheat on his wife. How convenient.

Its this whole demonization of sex that results in this shit. You repress it, tell yourself, "Bad, bad!, and try to crush your natural inclinations with your mind... well, trying to crush your mind with your mind is kind of like trying to armwrestle yourself. It just doesn't work.

Sex is not bad, sex is awesome. Its the best thing ever, as long as you don't try to hurt anyone with it. And if Sanford had just listened to his dick, and got laid when the need arose-with the wife's consent, of course-this shit wouldn't have gone down so bad.

You know, I think people that chastise other people for getting laid in consensual ways to be fucking ridiculous. The hypocrisy of Sanford slamming GLBTs for wanting to have fun while he himself is out catting around is the real issue here, not 'the forces of darkness'.

I swear, what this country needs is a National Day of Fucking. Just one day, when we all get together and pay homage to our loins.

Power of Darkness Revealed

Personally, I believe it is the power of Darkness that brought slavery to South Carolina, established the system of sharecropping that ruled farming there for many decades, and enforced the laws of Jim Crow.

Sex in Argentina seems somewhat beneath the power of Darkness's level of attention.

On the other hand, I DO believe it is the power of Darkness that causes the people of South Carolina to continue to vote for men like Mark Sanford, George Bush, Ronald Reagan, and Strom Thurmond.

Actually NPR

had an interview with the author of the book "The Family" the other day. Because Sanford is part of this group or at least involved with them.

The scary part, was the comment Sanford made "That I am like David." Which was confusing, until I heard what it really meant.

The Family (a "Christian" organization) believes they are like David. This is based on the question, "why was King David considered so great? He was a terrible man and did terrible things, so why was he considered great." The Family's answer? That David was great because God choose him, therefore it doesn't matter what David did in his life, he was still great because he was God's chosen servant.

So Sandford is saying that he can do whatever he wants and it doesn't matter because he is God's chosen servant.

There are also a lot of other issues regarding The Family, like did you know they created the Presidential Prayer Breakfast? They do not have churches or a real organized "religion" but receive religious tax exemptions, they have a house on K Street that they rent out to US Representatives at a VERY reduced price (those people almost always have "R's" at the end of their titles).
