The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

One Downside of Being Known as "VACATIONLAND"...

by: Louise

Wed Jul 08, 2009 at 14:00:00 PM EDT

UPDATE: Portland Press Herald just now (2:15pm EDT) reporting that "Stand For Marriage Maine" now claims to have the 55,000 signatures they need to force a November referendum..

From PRNewswire:

PORTLAND, Me., July 8 PRNewswire-USNewswire -- Looking to overturn a bill signed by Governor John Baldacci in May approving same sex marriage, Stand For Marriage Maine announced today that they have collected more than the 55,087 signatures needed to place a People's Veto on the November ballot and are collecting additional signatures as insurance to meet the deadline to qualify the measure for the 2009 statewide election.

"In just four weeks, we've gathered more than 55,000 signatures from Mainers who believe they, not the legislature and governor, should have the final say on the definition of marriage," said Marc Mutty, Chairman of the coalition. "There has been an extraordinary outpouring of support from voters across the state. This response gives us momentum that will lift us over the first hurdle of putting the issue before the people and, ultimately, carry us to victory in November."

All signatures must be certified by the Secretary of State for validity. Once certified, the issue is cleared to appear on the November 2009 ballot.

Here we go, folks...

Photobucket.. is the damned "out-of-staters".

Most visitors to our state are considered by the natives to be "folks from away"- they are nice, are attracted to and come here to enjoy Maine as it is, with no desire whatsoever to change her or any of us.

Apparently NOM doesn't know, understand or give a rat's ass about Maine's state motto of DIRIGO- "I Lead", or that our highways are festooned with signs like this.

Check out this recent and desperate email (h/t Orion45):

Stand for Marriage Maine!
July 8, 2009

Dear Orion45,

This spring, [out-of-touch politicians in Maine pushed a same-sex marriage bill through the legislaturehttp://www.pamshouseblend.com/diary/10828/breaking-maine-gov-baldacci-will-announce-decision-on-signing-marriage-equality-bill -- ignoring the will of their constituents.

Fortunately, under the Maine Constitution, legislators can't pull a stunt like that and get away with it. With a "people's veto," the people of Maine can have the final say on any bill passed by the legislature.

And that people's veto effort is well underway on the same-sex marriage bill. With your help, the people of Maine will have the chance to vote up or down on the same-sex marriage bill this November.

Stand for Marriage Maine!

Leading the charge is Stand for Marriage Maine, a coalition of grassroots activists and pro-family groups (including NOM) formed to allow Maine voters to restore the definition of marriage under Maine law.

Visit StandforMarriageMaine.com for the latest campaign updates and to see how you can join the effort to save marriage in Maine.

Your help is needed as we take our pro-marriage message to every corner of the state. Right now, we're in the signature-gathering phase of the campaign, and with your help we'll far exceed the 55,000 signatures needed to put the same-sex marriage issue on the November ballot.

But time is short. Here's what I need you to do today:

1) Visit StandforMarriageMaine.com, and consider how you can help protect marriage in Maine! Join the Facebook group, or follow Maine4Marriage on Twitter!

2) Make an online donation at StandforMarriageMaine.com to make sure we have the resources needed for collecting tens of thousands of signatures in a short window of time. Your donation of $20, $35, or $50 or more will help ensure success!

3) Forward this message to everyone you know that lives in Maine! We're reaching out to voters all across the state, and we need your help to spread the word! Do it right now!

God bless,

Hey, NOM- vacation OVER. Pack it up and head back to Jersey.

"Y'all FORGET where we live now, ya hear??

UGH.

Now, a request to the Blenders... let's show NOM and the rest of their gang that "TURNABOUT IS FAIR PLAY".

Twitter, Facebook, and SHARE this. Let's do this thing...

One state at a time, like so many dominoes- let's not give back hard-fought for ground.

Many thanks, everyone.

Not really confirmed
We have only the word of Mutty who also covers the possibility that they are NOT at 55,087 by saying that the petition drive will continue.

How much you want to bet that they are not there yet, but simply trying to give the propagandistic impression of overwhelming support?

Question:  What does an atheist do when they fall to the floor and start "speaking in tongues"?

Answer: Get a CAT scan.

Would the WAPO have gone with Watergate on one person's word?

This is a BS press release dressed up as a news story.

Maybe so
But that could backfire... they could say they have the signatures to give that impression, but it could backfire. I wouldn't feel the need to sign any petition(if I did sign them anyway) which the proponents say they have enough signatures.

[ Parent ]
Something smells
Wasn't it less than 2 weeks ago that they said they had 10,000 - 13,000 signatures? And with the crappy downpour Maine's been having the past month, I wonder where they could've went to get all those signatures...

Oh well. Show them that out of state haters can't dictate people's lives and Maine doesn't hate. thx

Does Maine allow
the names of petition signers to be made public?

I am the lizard queen!

It shouldn't be too hard to find out
Just read the comment section of the Kennebec Journal! :P

[ Parent ]
Meh...
We all knew they'd head for ME after they were done in NY.  The good news is NOM is screaming for money.  With all the action in the Northeast this spring we drained their coffers.  Maybe we can get them interested in opposing those 2 federal DOMA suits -- that should drain them even more.

Says them.
Next stop for their lists, once they turn them in, is for all the nit-picking, literal-minded, check-every-letter-and-number, match-against-voting-rolls petition checkers to do their due diligence.

Since I know for fact
that one of my own relatives committed petition fraud 2 years ago, I fully intend to see if she signed, as well as signed for her non compus brother.

He was in a coma in ICU at the time he supposdly signed right below her on a computerized petition she forwarded to me...

Love it or hate it,
and that always depends on which side of an issue you stand, checking the signatures is SOP. When they're your side's names, you feel it should be enough that each represents a valid voter; when it's the other side's names, you feel it has to be done to the level of having every i dotted. Hey, politics ain't beanbag.

Already donated.
Also have filled out the form to find out how to link up with Maine Freedom to Marry to volunteer during the fall.

After Prop 8 threatened us, I can't let them do it to someone else.

We have to leave everything on the road this time.

It was inevitable that they'd make this claim,
and probably inevitable that they can come up with petitions full of signatures.  The operative question is: how many of those signatures are valid?  And even more to the point, how aggressive and how thorough are the state authorities likely to be in validating the signatures?  And is it possible for the LGBT community to get involved in the validation process?  (Not that I'm suggesting any nefarious goings-on, but just to be sure.)  As I've said, when we were fighting a ballot measure here in Pittsburgh, we managed to invalidate more than half of the signatures on their petitions as being either illegally obtained or just plain fraudulent.  It took lots of work, much of it done on a round-the-clock schedule, but it was well worth it.

Cynic, n.  A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be.
-Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary

Early August
if they want to get it on the November ballot. The names and info have to be verified (30 days) and then they've got to be before "45 days before the election" to allow for the actual ballot printing.

Technically, they've got until "90 days after end of session" (which was June 17th), which would push the petition turn in date to Sept 17th. But that doesn't allow for the 30 days plus 45 days.

Which is why this could well end up postponing until June 2010. It all depends on whether or not they get the VALID 55,087 signatures...

all i can say is
that 55,000 signatures is not the same thing as 55,000 VALID signatures.  most campaigns collect 25% more as a safety margin.  if they do have 55k right now, it was smart of them to say so becuause they can fundraise more strongly off that fact.  however, it doesn't mean they have enough to qualify for the ballot.  sounds like it'll be a squeaker.

busy body out-of-staters
Welcome to the club of outsiders getting involved with state issues outside of their home states. When the California Supreme Court disallowed marriage discrimination, the Mormons stampeded into the state from Utah and the Catholics funded them. They were everywhere with their clipboards and petitions! Once they got enough signatures and it was on the ballot, here they came again with money and bodies we could never match. Pounding on doors, running lying advertisments on radio and television until they coerced enough people into believing anything but mixed gender marriages would pervert our children and bring ruin to our world. If only we had the right laws to keep out-of-staters OUT OF STATE!!!

Surprising - the latest emails from Mormon activists were downbeat ...
