Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

IL Sen. Roland Burris Not Running in 2010

by: Louise

Thu Jul 09, 2009 at 18:17:02 PM EDT

From CBS:

Illinois Senator Roland Burris, who was appointed to Barack Obama's Senate seat by impeached former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich amid a cloud of controversy, has announced that he will not seek election to the Senate in 2010, CBS News confirms.

No updates yet on his "Support Burris" website, set up last March.

Apparently the monies didn't pour in the way he needed after all. From Chicago Sun Times' Lynn Sweet:

Burris' decision, reported by my Sun-Times colleague Michael Sneed, was fueled in large part by his anemic fund-raising efforts, which will become public next week.

When we talked in May about whether he would run, Burris told me, I asked Burris about his timetable for deciding if he will run. "Lynn . . . if you don't have money, whether or not you say you are going to run is not relevant. . . . You take away your option."

Burris wanted to jump in the 2010 election, despite longshot odds, and made the rounds of Democratic heavies in May, but none offered him any support. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.)--who suggested he resign the seat because of the circumstances surrounding his appointment by Blagojevich, tried to recruit Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan to run for the Senate seat. Madigan on Wednesday said she instead will seek a third term as attorney general.

In the end, Burris sealed his own fate. He had $845 in a 2010 fund from his first quarter fund-raising and the second quarter yielded just about $20,000.

Hope he hadn't already had "Elected in 2010" inscribed on his mauseleum...

So who do you think WILL run? Blago? Mrs. Blago? Brother Blago?

Sarah Palin?

Oh, the possibilities...

Hard to say
One possibility is Lisa Madigan.  She's already announced she's not running for governor.  She has the political pedigree and credentials for it too.

One other possibility is the GOP could trot out one of the two Jims (Thompson or Edgar), although they are getting on in years.  The Illinois GOP is, like many in the nation, in a state of disarray.

Going to be interesting.  As a child of the Land of Lincoln brought up in its political traditions, I can honestly say this:  It's likely to be disappointing.

It would be easier to list those who are NOT running

Remember when the GOP trucked Allen Keyes in to oppose Obama?

Apparantly the residency requirement in Illinois also applies to the Residence Inn by Marriott.

Maybe I'll run, at least then there will be one candidate who has not recieved any bribes or promises of bribes.

(That's not to say that I wouldn't LIKE some, but to date I have not)

Question:  What does an atheist do when they fall to the floor and start "speaking in tongues"?

Answer: Get a CAT scan.

Bribes are part of the tradition
I think you have to show an affidavit from people who are willing to bribe you before they even let you circulate a petition to get on the ballot.

Remember of the last seven governors, five ended up in the slammer, and the other two were just damned lucky.

Madigan isn't running.
The major name in the field at this time is State Treasurer Alex Giannoulias for the Dems. Republican Rep. Kirk is also running.

Sex appeal
Giannoulias is cute.  Maybe they're on to something.

Shame Judy Baar Topinka isn't running on the GOP side.  Not cute, but credible.

Thank God Burris is not running
I'm sure it's a strategy based on whoever the GOP candidate is.

I heard that Congressman Mark Kirk is running (can someone confirm this?). He's a moderate Republican from the north suburbs of Chicago who could peel away independents and would certainly do well downstate.

I'm sure the Daley machine hacks will be in high gear to get someone who will be their pawn.

A strong Democrat should win, but a moderate Republican like Mark Kirk or Jim Edgar could certainly make it interesting.

And the national GOP knows this.

Duh.
Not running 'cause he knows he couldn't win the primary. End of political career.

The Rs are gonna go into a feeding frenzy now
I'm sure they think they can run any reasonably humanoid biped who can say bad things about queer folk and win the election.  I dunno. We need to hunt up every decent, untainted progressive D we can find (in Illinois--yeah, I know) because the people who can write big checks are already scared badwordless of getting hung up on a meathook when the next scandal breaks. I think I'm gonna go watch 'Mr Smith Goes to Washington' a few times to get my morale up.
