Oh, jeebus...

Yet another "Stockholm Syndrome" fundie wingnut wife. How sad that they feel they must stay in that trap. I get eerie memories of when I was in "Christian school" and the 8th grade Bible class teacher told us there was no justification for divorce... not cheating, not ABUSE, none whatsoever.

If these wingnuts were to ever ascend into power again, I fear we'll see "The Handmaid's Tale" come to life.

because she believes that marriage is between a man and a woman, right?  according to the fundies, THAT is the single, magical, god-ordained feature that is necessary to achieve a healthy marital relationship.  that's it!  so her partner is a louse, a deceiver, a cheater who finds sex with her utterly repulsive and only wants to gobble cock day and night....so what!  he's a man and she's a woman, and that's why she stays: because according to "god's word", their relationship is a success.    

the fact that she's publicly entertaining the idea of divorce is what is troubling to me.  divorce is a sin, specifically outlawed by jesus himself.  she should retract this tome immediately and repent.

I agree with you because I've seen it with my own eyes: husband comes out of the closet, tells wife, and they stay married.  She gets the honor of following him around the clubs while he's looking for tricks, and is pretty much a 3rd wheel in her own marriage.  If some twinkie-boy 30 years younger than him breaks his heart, she's there for him to fall back on.

That's fucked up!  Men are OK, but they're not worth sitting on any backburner for them.

homosexuality and its sister-cousin are behaviors, not innate traits.  according to haggard and his wife and their fundie bretheren, everyone is designed to mate with someone of the opposite sex, and desires for same-sex lovin are merely the devil's temptations.  he might REALLY love the pole, but that only means he has temptations to overcome.  bisexuality certainly does not exist.

If he wants to call himself "a man with some temptations to overcome" instead of "bisexual," that's fine with me.  It is still entirely possible that he did indeed love and continues to love his wife, and that she continues to love him, despite his infidelity.

It's not our place to judge the legitimacy of anyone else's marriage.  Assuming that any man "caught" in a same-sex relationship must be gay and that his wife must be deceived or a doormat undermines our own position.

sorry, but i completely disagree

"bisexual" vs "a man with temptations to overcome" are night and day.  one recognizes the natural qualities inherit in a person and allows for the following of one's own path to fulfillment, the other forces a person to follow strict social constructs to the detriment of themselves and those around them.  one is constructive, the other is destructive.  that last one is the one they want, and the only one they'll recognize.      

that's why it is precisely our responsibility to judge the legitimacy of marriages like this, for a couple of reasons.  first off, because i refuse to be on the defense of my own relationship by people who can't follow their own rules and who are trying to ensure that i have fewer rights than they do.  these are their rules, not ours, and the glaring hypocrisy needs to be underscored.  secondly, i think all of us here understand that positive, healthy marital relationships are not automatically based on the magic "god-ordained" penis-vagina combination, but the fundies don't, and they continue to push that lie.....which is why they have pastors on the down-low with other dudes.  don't you think that offering a better, healthier set of rules would prevent this sort of thing?  don't you think that it's our duty to educate by highlighting the problems?  don't you think that would benefit not just our own relationships, but everyone's?  i absolutely do.

The fundies never stop judging us and our relationships.  NEVER!   Near as I can tell, they obsess about us every waking hour of every waking day.  Until the time comes when the LGBT community tries to strip people like Ted and Gayle of their rights as citizens, might I suggest you save the pietistic platitudes for them?

They are much rarer than they advertise, in my experience

I know a few men who claim bisexuality.
One was married and divorced and has a completely gay partnership since the divorce, but remained friends with his ex-wife.
One would go to clubs with a beautiful woman on his arm,  when ever a man gave him the least interest, the woman was dumped to cab it home alone..
One was with me for a year, he coached kids, and was very closeted. When he came close to being discovered as gay, because the suspected me, he left for a mother of a kid he coached.
I'd say they all were queer, and posing as bi was easier.
That doesn't mean I say all bi's are gay/lesbian, but the majority are.

Some women do enter marriages knowing the groom is queer/bi, Cole Porter's marriage was like that. There usually are some rules, and publicly embarrassing the wife and children is completely out of bounds.
His drug addiction probably made him careless, and stupid.

I still call her a doormat, to stay with someone so sloppy to embarrass the family.
