Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

BREAKING NEWS: Senator Ted Kennedy Has Died

by: Keori

Wed Aug 26, 2009 at 01:49:39 AM EDT

(The loss of Senator Kennedy will be a profound one, felt throughout our country and beyond. Rest in peace, sir, and many grateful thanks for your decades of public service.   - promoted by Pam Spaulding)

The "Liberal Lion of the Senate," Ted Kennedy, has died of brain cancer at the age of 77.

"We've lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism, and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever," the Kennedy family said in a statement. "He loved this country and devoted his life to serving it.

The work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die.

We are all called to a better country, and a newer world.

Rest in peace, Senator.

another good video
I posted this in the open thread, but wanted to make sure people saw it. Ted Kennedy on healthcare:

Feels like a gut punch
part of me wishes I hadn't read it tonight.

Rest now Teddy

Chris Matthews has a special the Kennedy Brothers on this week.

According to current Massachusetts law
There will be a special election- in 5 months.

Kennedy had been pushing the MA legislature to change this quickly the past few weeks. To say this is a blow is a gross understatement; politically, this is as bad as it gets.

On second sip of coffee; watching NECN- New England "CNN". F*ck, it took me 3 attempts to type "England"!

He wrote a letter, dated July 2
to MA Governor Deval Patrick and the leaders of the MA legislature regarding the 2004 change- the image of the letter is here.

Live interview on NECN with Rep. Barney Frank
Watching now... he is not interested in Kennedy's seat and feels it would be a mistake.

I've also heard earlier that there may be no movement by the Massachusetts legislature until after Labor Day, when they come back into session.

NECN will be interviewing Governor Deval Patrick within minutes.

Flag half-staff at the Kennedy compound
Looks like a beautiful and windy morning on the Cape, a "take a reef and have a great sail" sort of day... very fitting.

It would surprise me if the Gov. and Legislature remained so cavalier
I think the passing and prudent warning of Sen. Kennedy will have a bracing effect on the government in Mass. I would hope they would move with great haste of face the ire of the voters of the entire state.

Always thinking about it...

Where can we find another like him?
An out and proud Liberal, who lived it, voted it and preached it with no shame.

Edward M Kennedy

Rest in Peace, Senator.
Giants walked amongst us, Sir, and you were surely the last that we shall see for some time.

In his words about Robert Kennedy is ihs own best eulogy
"to be remembered simply as a good and decent man, who saw wrong and tried to right it, saw suffering and tried to heal it, saw war and tried to stop it."

Vatican paper criticises Ted Kennedy's abortion stance
The liberal senator "was constantly in the front line in battles such as the protection of immigrants, gun control, (and) minimum wage for the poorest.

"But unfortunately there were positions on his part in favour of abortion," said a report in the Vatican's official newspaper, L'Osservatore Romano.

Kennedy, who died on Tuesday after a year-long battle with brain cancer, aged 77, "put his signature to many laws that - some say - redesigned contemporary America," the daily said.

The Kennedy clan is one of America's most prominent Roman Catholic families, and his brother, John, was America's first Catholic president, but Ted Kennedy's liberal political beliefs led him to back women's reproductive rights from the mid-1970s.

Dominic Dunne is dead!
Not as big of a name as Ted Kennedy, of course.

But still...

Death comes in 3's
Eunice, Teddy and Dominic.  In the world, 4 births each second of every day. only 2 people die each second. Planet Earth is doomed by too many folks.

Same-Sex Marriage is good for the economy.

Kennedy's funeral is in a working class church
The pope himself would have no power to criticize Teddy or the family in MA.

Let's have a wake here on the Blend
Saturday, for Teddy.

It seems the right thing to do, and I would like to toast him with a few Jameson's whiskey Irish coffees.

(okay, so I really don't NEED an excuse to want a nip of Jameson's! ;)

Anyone else think it's a good idea? Drink, laugh, and remember?

Let's do it
petey's comment in the other thread about the tears starting done got my tears started.

As a black American, as a gay man, as a recovering alcoholic hell...just as an American, dammit, this is tough.

I haven't talked about this much in the Blend, but I used to work on the Hill. I actually met the Kennedy from Rhode Island (his son? or his nephew?) late one night as he and his staff were leaving for the holidays. One of the staffers actually gave me a half a carton of cigarettes as he was quitting smoking.

I actually walked by Ted Kennedy once in the tunnel that connects the House Office Bulidings to the Capitol and the Senate Office Buildings. He was talking to another Senator but even so, I doubt that I would have had the nerve to introduce myself; I was that much in awe even then. (I had no problem introducing myself to then-Speaker Jim Wright)

I just had to take a deeeeep breath.;

A fine idea
Open thread, a wake for Ted Kennedy. Virtual whiskeys all round. I may even bring in some heather ale and honey mead.

You just know that Teddy, Jack, and Bobby are all sitting at the bar right now, tossing back the top shelf stuff. I think Ginmar had it right; God is a barman.

Was too worn down yesterday
to even go talk to my girl; think I'm gonna mail her a small nip bottle of Jameson's today and probably break all kinds of regulations doing so.

And maybe invite her over here for the wake...
