This insanity isn't about healthcare. It's just more racism. It's about who is "deserving" of having the deficit increased on their behalf, and shock and surprise, racist white people don't want to spend money to help the working poor, who are disproportionately brown people.

As Matt Yglesias pointed out:

Ezra Klein offers a flashback: "To put that in perspective, many of the legislators who are balking at the cost of health-care reform voted for the Kyl-Lincoln bill to reform the estate tax at a cost of $75 billion a year, or $750 billion over 10 years."

Specifically, all the Republicans plus Senators Baucus (D-MT), Bayh (D-IN), Cantwell (D-WA), Landrieu (D-LA), Lincoln (D-AR), Murray (D-WA), Nelson (D-FL), Nelson (D-NE), Pryor (D-AR), and Tester (D-MT) thought nothing of adding hundreds of billions of dollars to the deficit when the beneficiaries were a tiny number of already wealthy households. But quite a few of these people seem very concerned about the idea of spending similar amounts of money on making health insurance affordable to middle class Americans.

And that is because they and their supporters are a bunch of fucking racists. Health care reform might add to the deficit if not planned out well. Lowering the estate tax, which only benefits the ungodly wealthy, WILL add to the deficit, because Kyl-Lincoln didn't have any way to pay for the $75 billion per year in tax cuts. But since Kyl-Lincoln benefits a bunch of rich (white) people, resulting in votes for white racist assholes, and a single-payer Medicare-for-all type system will benefit impoverished people (who are disproportionately brown) guess which one is okay?

I fucking hate these people.

Getting really tired of everyone making this out to be Obama's problem

If there is a failure here it is in 2 parties and 40 years of getting it wrong. Not in a newly elected President who at least has the balls to raise the issue again for the good of the people. I hope he nails both sides to the wall this week.
