'Inside the Mind of Mark Foley' radio show debuts tonight

You too can land a radio show gig by sending pervy IMs to young men who are serving their country as Congressional Pages.

Mark Foley, the Florida Republican who left Congress in 2006 amid accusations he sent lurid e-mails to male House pages, is credited with helping to sour the electorate's view of the Grand Old Party in a year when Nancy Pelosi and the Dems swept into power.
In the years since, he's been in real estate investment, contemplating a return to politics.
Tonight, he makes his debut as a radio talk show host. "Inside the Mind of Mark Foley," billed by the station as a program that "will expose the inner workings of Washington, D.C.," airs at 6 p.m. EST on WSVU-AM (960) out of North Palm Beach, Fla. It can also be heard at www.seaviewam960.com.

Is this the kind of inner workings that Mark will share with listeners?

Maf54: You in your boxers, too?
Teen: Nope, just got home. I had a college interview that went late.
Maf54: Well, strip down and get relaxed.
Another message:

The language gets much more graphic, too graphic to be broadcast, and at one point the congressman appears to be describing Internet sex.

He was denying the (longstanding) rumors as late as 2003, when the papers first started reporting the story. Didn't come out ('fess up) till after he resigned. His legislation was mostly aimed at cracking down on sex offenders and child pornography.

Publicly he didn't run as a gay candidate so a lot of his Rebub voters weren't aware.

But his fellow Congressmen know and he and Kolbe were consulted and were a force in toning down Rep. anti-gay rhetoric and action.

An interesting read is David Kuo, Bush's first "Faith Based" Czar, which discusses this.

IN the meantime, there is no way to distinguish the comments here from those found on the Free Republic.

And what is the point of those quotes around "respectable"? Are you trying to suggest some kind of irony? Do you really think Ted Haggard and all the other right-wing GOP sex offenders are more "respectable" than yourself and the other regulars here? is the politics of personal destruction - I didn't like it when the Repubs used at against Clinton, and I don't like it now.

I'm all in favor of going after Haggard or Stevens or Vitter for their actions.

You honestly believe that a few wisecracks on a blog are going to "destroy" Foley? To a greater extent than his own reprehensible behavior did? And you really find them equivalent to the Republicans bringing impeachment proceedings against Bill Clinton ("the politics of personal destruction" writ large)? Come, now. Would you also argue that a few snarky jokes on a blog are what destroyed Larry Craig's political career, rather then the fact that he was busted for trying to grope a cop under the partition in a men's room stall? Former Rep. Mark Foley is trying to master the art of the comeback.

Three years after the former Florida congressman resigned amid disclosures that he was sending lurid text messages to teenage, male pages on Capitol Hill, a scandal in which Foley was never charged with a crime, he is taking a step back into public life -- this time as a radio personality.

Radio talk shows are hardly a new format for down-and-out political figures trying to regain their footing.

To F. Scott Fitzgerald's famous lament that there are no second acts in American lives, perhaps no one offers a sharper retort than G. Gordon Liddy, the convicted Watergate conspirator who became a best-selling author, TV pitch man and radio host.

Add to that list former Ohio Rep. Bob Ney, who served 17 months in prison after pleading guilty to bribery and falsifying forms in the Jack Abramoff scandal.

Now he hosts "Bob Ney News and Notes" on West Virginia's 1370 AM.

"Talk radio gives me the ability to debate and be part of the energetic give-and-take of public debate once again," Ney said.

Florida's Foley is getting back into the public debate as well.

"Manjarres, one of the most vocal supporters of former House Speaker Marco Rubio's primary campaign against Republican Gov. Charlie Crist, also notes that after reading the "investigator's notes" about the scandal that forced Foley from office, "there was never any evidence that a crime was committed."

He calls Foley's new radio program, "Inside the Mind of Mark Foley," a "must listen event." Foley's first show airs Tuesday at 6 p.m. on 960AM in Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast. It can also be heard on the Web at www.seaviewam960.com."

THIS WHOLE THING is soley to kill Charlie Crist's Senate bid.
They should find the money trail to opponents of Crist, and claim this is a PAID political commercial, not a radio show.

Their purpose statement is against moderate conservatives, yet the photos feature Giulliani and Lieberman...guess they missed Rudy's drag photos.
