I'm confused.

I'm still not sure how barring same-sex couples from marrying lifts single mothers out of poverty.  Seems to me that a culture steeped in machismo is the bigger culprit.

And can someone please tell me how going to school and hearing the words "faggot," "homo" and "queer" isn't a form of persecution for GLBT kids (or teachers for that matter)?

We hear that black people can't hide who they are.  When they walk outside, people know they are black; but gay people can hide.  True, but why should we?  Why can't I walk down the street holding my partner's hand without fear of having the crap beat out of me?

What, because gays have figured out ways to avoid sticking out, we aren't being persecuted?

How many people, gay and straight, who "look gay" - whatever that means - deal with name calling and threats of violence every day?

I'm sorry, Mr. Jackson, for not having been strung up from a tree, or for not having gasoline poured on me, or for not having a shotgun blast by my ear.  Those things are atrocious and I'm sorry you had to witness those things.  No one deserves them.  But what are you saying when you say that people cannot consider themselves persecuted unless this stuff has happened to them?  What do you want to happen?  

If anything, shouldn't you be thrilled that even though we haven't achieved equality for everyone in this country, that no one has to go through the horrific circumstances African-Americans went through?

And yes, Mr. Jackson, you are a traitor.  Any African-American man or woman who would cozy up to well-dressed, well-heeled and articulate white-supremacists and think that at they end of the day, they consider you a friend, when really they consider you to be nothing more than a n----r doing their dirty work, is someone who is self-loathing and self-delusional.

I don't like you Mr. Jackson.  But I would probably have respect for you if never got involved with the Tony Perkins, Phyllis Schlafleys and James Dobsons of the world.  Because after they use you to fight the gays, their next line of attack are the civil rights you currently enjoy.  Say good-bye to government programs that help poor, single mothers.  Say good-bye to affirmative action, which helped poor blacks move up to the middle class.  Say good-bye to laws that say it is illegal to not sell a house to a black family who wants to move into a predominately white neighborhood. Say good-bye to the laws that desegregated schools.

Enjoy the walk to the back of the bus.

I can guarantee none of us guys want one, unless she's our surrogate for babies.

btw. babies were never on my to do list, I refused to be a donar for a lesbian couple because I would have felt too responsible to be a godfather/uncle role. It's just as well the lesbian couple split a year later and the baby would only have had 1 parent.

And he talks about how his father was discriminated against. What about himself?

It seems that the only arguments that these people have are misconceptions, disinformation, denial, and "God's in the mix".

the gays make less money in DC than the straights and it is a proven fact by the U.S. Bureau of the Census.  These goons will LIE, CHEAT AND STEAL on/from any group to get what they want. They are not Christians, they parade around in white collars pretending to be Christians, but they are no more Jesus-like than a bag of sH(*.  Guess this as*&ole doesn't know that his own bible "Leviticus 19:34 But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself".  Guess he really hates himself.

I think this is true to an extent in Chicago too

The gayborhood has been gentrified to an extent and while the bars are still there, many of the gays have moved further north.
