Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Our best chance yet to fix the Patriot Act and FISA!

by: jonpincus

UPDATE, 8:30 p.m.: Please join us online Thursday during the hearing! http://bit.ly/oct1hearing has all the info.
This Thursday's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing marking up the Leahy PATRIOT Act extension bill is the best chance yet for significant reform. As well as limiting the use of sneak-and-peak warrants and National Security Letters, it bars "bulk collection" under FISA and holds telecom companies accountable for past abuses. A broad coalition including EFF, the ACLU, Bill of Rights Defense Committee, the American Library association and many other organizations support Senator Feingold's JUSTICE Act, a comprehensive package of reforms. The key question for Thursday is how many will be added to Leahy's more limited bill.

Over the next two days, we need to pressure Democrats on the SJC to add provisions from the JUSTICE Act during markup -- and Senators to sign on as co-sponsors to the JUSTICE Act.

Here's how you can help:

Why I am inspired to take part
Laws such as the Patriot Act, in addition to the issuance of retroactive immunity, are made with the knowledge that people precisely like myself will self-censor themselves out of fear.

Well, living in such fear is no way to live! It is entirely unacceptable for our government to take on these kinds of powers, as well as for corporations to come off scot-free after they profit from helping our government dismantle our rights.

This is why I am inspired to take part--and provide as much leadership as I can--for this kind of campaign. I do not want to tell my children that I remember the days when we did not have to fear being spied upon, rather, I want to tell them that I was one of those who fought back!

Let's roll --
Thanks, Jon, for doing this blog post -- and thanks, Pam, for hosting it.

There never was a good time for unchecked, secret power -- but given the truly astounding new technological capabilities these days, and with the Obama administration in office, now is certainly not the time.  The Bush approaches must end, and we need to bring back accountability for illegal conduct.

History shows that discrimination, political manipulation, abuse, and insecurity -- NOT security -- are the main outcomes when systems like the Patriot Act are established. Senator Feingold has again courageously led the way in pointing out the abuses that come from such secretive, untrammelled power.

Everyone in the US should take this great opportunity to return the country back to the rule of law and support the JUSTICE ACT reforms of the PATRIOT ACT so we can again ensure that our laws don't allow unchecked intrusions into privacy and liberty.  Our statutes, like the Constitution itself, should instead insist on the independently reviewed, fact-based, individualized suspicion that the Bill of Rights has always required as a prerequisite for surveillance.
