Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

National Equality March Round-Up

by: Louise

Sun Oct 11, 2009 at 17:45:00 PM EDT

From Advocate.com

An hour after the rally began, crowds are still filing into the National Mall. Police are estimating the crowd to be upwards of 200,000.

Cynthia Nixon is backstage at the march hugging and visiting with Judy Shepard and Lt. Dan Choi. "It's time for us to make the president move beyond word. The right sentiment just isn't enough anymore," she says as she addresses the crowd.

Choi tells the crowd, "Some of us have come very far and sacrificed so much to be here-but love is worth it."

When Christine Quinn speaks, she says she wants to say to members of Congress and the Senate, "Look me in the eye and tell me I am not an American."

"I can say with certainty that this is the single most important moment of my career," Lady Gaga tells the crowd. To Barney Frank, Lady G said, "We are putting more than pressure on this grass, and today this grass is ours."

ABC News

Thousands of gay rights supporters marched Sunday from the White House to the Capitol, demanding that President Barack Obama keep his promises to allow gays to serve openly in the military and work to end discrimination against gays.

Rainbow flags and homemade signs dotted the crowds filling Pennsylvania Avenue in front of the White House as people chanted "Hey, Obama, let mama marry mama" and "We're out, we're proud, we won't back down." Many children were also among the protesters. A few counter-protesters had also joined the crowd, which stretched several blocks by the afternoon.

Congrats to all!
Seriously, 200k+ attendance is better than I expected. This should be enough to get the politicians' attention. I bet Obama heard more than just Lady Gaga calling him out... ;-)

Want to save marriage equality in Maine? Ask me how! ;-)

Fox News reported 20 billion trillion quadrillion marchers!

Oh, wait, that was the dip your balls march.

Question:  What does an atheist do when they fall to the floor and start "speaking in tongues"?

Answer: Get a CAT scan.

I've seen estimates of over 250,000
I watched (and recorded) the whole thing, and it was a fine event.  A lot of the speakers were terrific, especially the young people.  I have to confess I fell a bit in love with Mario Nguyen, and I've adored Julian Bond since the 60s (when it was his turn not to requite my passion :) ).  The contrast between this all-inclusive event and the country club dinner last night was incredibly bracing, and I hope it energizes the community nationwide.

Still, I have to say 200,000 or even 250,000 is a bit small, considering that we had a million at the march 16 years ago and there's so much at stake now.  I think more lead time and more effective organizing--not just this seat-of-the-pants internet stuff--could easily have produced an even more impressive event.

I am not interested in picking up crumbs of compassion thrown from the table of someone who considers himself my master. I want the full menu of rights.  -Archbishop Desmond Tutu

Who has time or money now?
Plus, given  how completely the media blacked out the anti-war marches, it seems to me that such events are not all that effective at moving an issue forward. (Of course, if it's a tea party the fraction that size, it gets copious media coverage). I will never go to Washington D.C. for a march again after going September 25, 2005 and seeing what a travesty the coverage was, when there was any at all, despite the enormous size of that event.

I think you're right that it could have used better organizing - I'm on half a dozen LGBT email lists and this event wasn't even on my radar. Here, most gay activists I know are in the thick of local elections, particularly city council campaigns. Two of the first three openly gay councilpeople from this county are up for re-election, and the gay community here is very active in doing on the ground stuff for people who support them - canvassing, phone calls, lit drops etc.

Sheer Fabulousness Abounds!

let's not lie about the numbers...
200,000 ?!? i wish...there were maybe 20 thousand there at best. hate to say it, but this event was pretty much a dud.
congress was out of town for the holiday weekend and the media has barely covered it. apparently, the high point of the day for many was hearing that lady caca likes us ! she really likes us !! ugh.. is this what the gay rights movement has devolved to ? we need our egos massaged by a lame pop star ?
meanwhile.. the whitehouse was dissing us as a bunch of lefty nutbags.. yeah, the same obama whitehouse that has fought AGAINST us in court..the same obama whitehouse who said that they'll consider ending DADT after all wars have ended... but don't try to tell that to the apologists at the HRC..they think we have to just wait until the end of the prez's second term and THEN..maybe..perhaps..who knows.. he'll follow through on a promise or two. would you care for another cocktail while we wait?

My local news station discussed it
and its rare for them to cover lgbt events.

Numbers
Not that reality should ever factor into discussion at the  blend, but here's a useful discussion of the numbers at Michael Petrelis' blog:
