Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

GOP Jack*ssery gone wild: Boehner's spokesbot says being gay is a choice, religion is not

by: Pam Spaulding

Sat Oct 17, 2009 at 23:31:23 PM EDT

Wow, I didn't think they would really try to lodge the claim that there's a religious denomination gene that ensures your faith is predetermined when you shoot out of the womb, but when you're an anti-gay Republican like House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) , it's ok to send your spokesperson out there to look like a complete jackass.

Questioned about why the House's top Republican opposes a hate crimes bill penalizing violence against gays, his spokesman said he "supports existing federal protections (based on race, religion, gender, etc) based on immutable characteristics," just not protections for things like being gay -- which conservatives occasionally claim is a choice.

When CBSNews.com asked Boehner's office to comment, it's quite clear that the Ohio Congressman and his mouthpiece are completely ignorant about the law that is currently in place, since gender is not included. Boehner spokesman Kevin Smith was ridiculed for this religion-is-in-the-DNA logic for opposing adding sexual orientation and gender identity into the law.

Northeastern University professor Jack Levin, who co-authored the first book written about hate crimes, told Hotsheet that "to use immutability as a criterion doesn't make any sense at all."

"Especially if he supports the current stand," Levin continued. "Religion is clearly not ascribed. It's not built into the organism. People can change it at any time and people do."

I am sure it makes perfect sense to them
God makes us in his image and he's Christian (isn't he?).

Wait, who makes the Jews, Muslims, Hindis..,

Or the non-religious?
We atheists must all be in denial or something.

Surprised there hasn't been a follow-up proposing that atheism be considered a mental illness...

and yet

But of course
Boehner spokesman Kevin Smith was ridiculed for this religion-is-in-the-DNA logic for opposing adding sexual orientation and gender identity into the law.
Well what would you expect from Silent Bob?  Jay would have made much more sense.

And sadly, even though I was snarkily joking above, that last part's probably true.

"Snooch to the nooch"

"Religion is immutable"

One of those is pure nonsense.  The other is a line delivered by Jason Mewes in several movies.

But seriously...

I'm beginning to wonder if this moronic convergence is something that has skidded along unscathed through this discourse because everyone on both sides has ignored it - the Boner-oids because its their BS talking point and people on the side of reality because we're so used to their really big lies (gay = pedophile, trans woman = rapist, etc.) that we miss this one, which is usually delivered via throwaway line.

It almost never fails that some christianist will give the 'civil rights are for immutable characteristics' line in defense of a civil rights status quo that includes religion - and it almost never fails that no one follows up to call them out one it.

>^..^<

If religion isn't a choice
then why are they funneling obscene sums of money into their ministries to convert people?

I am the lizard queen!

How do I change
from being a 6'2" butch?

I know I got the best there was as to the mindf*@k they call ex-gay 'therapy'.

Please explain it to me I am all ears.

I'm not the sick one.

If Religion is Genetic...
Can we find a vaccine?

I wrote a letter
to my House Rep (Randy Forbes (R-Va)) about a week ago asking that he help get ENDA passed this year and I got an almost identical response...

In my letter I stated:

I have written to you in the past on issues similar to this one and your reply always included something to the tone of "I don't believe that people should have special laws written for lifestyle choices" and if you actually believe that statement, I would ask that you bring to the house a bill to deny protections based off of religion. A choice to vote no on passing the Employment Non-Discrimination Act is nothing more than an act of bigotry towards a minority group.

His response included:

Introduced by Congressman Barney Frank (MA-4), H.R. 2981 would extend federal employment discrimination protections that are currently provided based on race, religion, gender, national origin, age and disability, to prohibit employment discrimination based on "actual or perceived" sexual orientation or gender identification. This bill has been referred to the following committees where it awaits further action: House Education and Labor; House Administration; House Oversight and Government Reform; and House Judiciary.

I strongly support each individual's Constitutional civil rights, including the right to equal opportunity. However, I do not believe that a person's lifestyle or behavior makes them eligible for behavior-specific protections. I am satisfied that current civil rights legislation provides a sufficient level of Constitutional protection to serve each and every member of our society regardless of their sex, age, race, or religion.

Notice his mis-representation of gender already being included and the fact that he includes religion as 'sufficient coverage' because it's not a "person's lifestyle or behavior".

I can play their game
Dear friends, there is a way to pull away from the hate and confusion of the unhealthy "christian" lifestyle.

Give your soul over to REALITY

Cisgender. Because "Genetic" (or non) is so 2006.

Take that, GOP
Conservatives will say anything that the think their flock can memorize and pass along at the town hall. It's got to be catchy! And this is catchy.

I guess Religion is not a Choice if you have been brainwashed in it
since the age of 2.  That is precisely the tack we ought to take with these people.  OK, you have had this fallacious, sex-obsessed, body-controlling, overbearingly paternalistic, religion shoved down your throat for 18 years while you were subject to your parents wishes.  Now that you are an adult, what is your excuse?

History, I believe, furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a free civil government.-- Thomas Jefferson
