Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

86-year-old WWII vet on marriage equality: "what do you think I fought for in Omaha Beach?"

by: Pam Spaulding

Wed Oct 21, 2009 at 08:06:59 AM EDT

Mainers on the fence, remember this testimony? Watch it and think about it when it's time to vote. It was given during a hearing on Maine's marriage equality bill on April 22, 2009. Nearly 4,000 people attended the hearing, with marriage equality supporters out-numbering the opposition 4 to 1.

"The woman at my polling place asked me do I believe in equality for gay and lesbian people. I was pretty surprised to be asked a question like that. It made no sense to me. Finally I asked her: what do you think I fought for in Omaha Beach?"

I wrote a note about this...
on my Facebook page the other day. The No on 1 campaign made an absolutely fabulous mailing featuring Mr. Spooner. It arrived in my mailbox on Saturday and as I said in my note, it reduced me to tears. I think I might frame it.

You can read about the mailing and what I wrote here:

We already know everything there is to know about same-sex marriage ...
Arguments against same-sex marriage:

(1) Marriage is an institution defined historically as the union between one man and one woman.
(2) Children are optimally cared for in homes with a mother and a father.
(3) The purpose of marriage is procreation and societal stability.
(4) Same-sex marriage is an untested and dangerous social experiment.
(5) Same-sex marriage is part of a slippery slope to universal depravity.
(6) Gay relationships themselves are immoral.

Arguments against the arguments against same-sex marriage:

(1) You don't have a bit of evidence for any of that, and
(2) Please, quit being a jerk.

http://www.chinoblanco.com/200...

It's not that our opposition are bigots, it's that they're being jerks.

No need for a defensive crouch ... Gay or straight, we all (I hope) have enjoyed the experience of responding to jerks and isolating them with a quick look and a knowing smile ...

More Philip, please.  Less of the other garbage.  We've heard it all before.

This more than made my day
And I've linked in in my Latest FaBlog: A Matter of "Opinion"

2 points -

1) THAT should be the closing week ad for No on 1 and

2) Does he need a ride to the polls?

Question:  What does an atheist do when they fall to the floor and start "speaking in tongues"?

Answer: Get a CAT scan.

Love this!
I'll second the motion; Mr. Philip Spooner should be our next No On 1 ad, all by himself...

The oath of enlistment
"I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."
(emphasis mine)

Mr. Spooner takes his oath seriously. And as old and feeble as he appears to be, continues to support and defend that Constitution.

Thank you, sir, for all that you have done, and continue to do, for your country and for our Constitution.

Wonderful man
Mr. Spooner's testimony had me feeling a wave of pure, simple patriotism of a kind I haven't felt since I was a little kid watching war movies.  I feel an overwhelming urge to give him a big, sloppy kiss, or at least the warmest hug I can manage.  (And I don't usually have that kind of reaction to men who are older than me--not that there are many of them left.)  What's the phrase?  "Proud to be an American."

Cynic, n.  A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be.
-Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary

Mr. Spooner is going viral...
I hope the poor guy is ready for this!

Oh, yeah, I'm sure he is...
Old time Mainers are a lot tougher than they look...

Saw an 80+ lady today with a gas powered leaf blower strapped to her back clearing her yard.

"Needs doin' "

I love this guy!
To stand and speak for truth and freedom is true bravery. Anyone got a medal to give this guy?

Should be a commercial...
this could be really effective on TV up there.

Andrew Sullivan credits himself for posting this before Pam
See:

http://andrewsullivan.theatlan...

I wrote to him to correct his post and at least acknowledge Pam had posted much earlier that day, but, not surprisingly, no such acknowledgement has been made.
