Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

No On 1 'Get Out The Vote' Effort Announced- By United States Representative Cheelie Pingree (D-ME)

by: Louise

Mon Oct 26, 2009 at 12:30:00 PM EDT

Have I said today how much I love Chellie Pingree?

No?

Well, lemme SAY IT ALREADY :)!!!

Check out this latest press release from 'No On 1' and see if you don't love "Chellie P", too!

Congresswoman Pingree Kicks Off NO on 1 Campaign's Get Out the Vote Program in Southern Maine

Portland, Maine (October 26, 2009) --

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree together with southern Maine volunteers including area legislators today kicked off the NO on 1 Campaign's Get Out the Vote effort.

"Same sex couples live in every part of our state in loving, committed relationships and many of them are raising children," said Congresswoman Pingree.

"In these final days, each of us must do every thing we can to ensure that this landmark step towards equality for all of Maine families is upheld."

Congresswoman Pingree recognized the tireless work of campaign volunteers, encouraging them to continue their efforts through November 3.

"Thank you all for the countless hours you've already given, but until the polls close on Nov. 3rd, all of us must do even more to make sure that voters understand the consequences of Question 1 and vote NO to treat everyone in Maine equally under the law," said Pingree.

Congresswoman Pingree called several volunteers to thank them for the long hours they have already committed to the NO on 1 campaign and to discuss the campaign's Get Out the Vote Program.

Volunteers included Monica Hamkins of Brunswick, a Catholic mother of a lesbian daughter, and Kylie Groat, a student at the University of Maine in Farmington, who has been organizing NO on 1 activities on the campus.

State Senator Justin Alfond reminded supporters that they have the opportunity to make history by urging people to vote NO on Question 1.

"Your efforts will put Maine on the map as the first state where a Legislature passed marriage equality legislation; where a Governor signed the legislation into law; and where citizens voted so all Mainers have the right to marry the person they love," said Alfond.

"The key to winning this election is getting our supporters out to vote.  And, that's exactly what we're all here to do," added Alfond as he joined volunteers in telephoning supporters.

According to NO on 1 Campaign manager Jesse Connolly, the Get Out the Vote Effort over the next nine days will involve thousands of volunteers across the state who will talk with friends and neighbors, staff phone banks, and walk neighborhoods.

"This is a true grassroots campaign and we continue to be overwhelmed by the level of support and energy," said Connolly. "Mainers have dug deep, whether that's taking on extra nights at our phone banks or double shifts knocking on doors. It's inspired all of us."

I also happen to know that a certain very dear friend of mine and fellow Blender, who has been absolutely KICKING *SS with her speeches and house parties, was one of the volunteers called- I am beyond thrilled that her hard work and tireless efforts have been recognized!

A True Video Re-Enactment of "King & King"
I have teamed up with The Leffew family (2009 Equality Circle Award winners from Family Equality Council) from their popular Gay Family Values youtube channel to produce a video to re-enact the gay-themed children's book "King & King". We decided to do this video as a response to the efforts by the Maine Yes on 1 Campaign to vilify this book on their TV ads, and we aimed to present this book in a positive light as it was intended.  We hope that this video can be just 1/4 as popular as Philip's video and change many hearts and minds in Maine towards protecting marriage equality in Maine and winning in November.  Hope you like it!

Great job.... Thanks for the work...
One of love, we can tell.

It's the Hammer of JUSTICE,
It's the Bell of FREEDOM,
It's the Song about LOVE between,
my Brothers and my Sisters
...All over this Land.

It will be so disheartening if we lose this
It seems no one of note is on the opposition's side. We have so many elected officials, the Attorney General, so many pulling for us. All I see on their side is the LDS & the RCC.

Where was Pelosi a year ago?
Wouldn't it have been nice of the San Francisco resident, elected numerous times by thousands of LGBT citizens would have made a similar effort in her district - in her state - a year ago?

Imagine the impact that would have had.  The Speaker of the House defending the rights of her constituents and helping get out the vote while responding to the need to defend a minority group from defamation and bigotry.

She wouldn't do it in 2008 and you can bet she also won't do it in 2010 or 2012 and neither will Obama.

Their selfishness takes precedence over the marginalization of the people that support their candidacy.

Brava Pingree!  SHE is a leader.

Keeping her powder dry
Alas, the top democrats don't go out on a limb for us. This is a sad reality we need to change.

Question for Pam & the Blend
on reflection of my earlier post, I'm curious if I'm getting a distorted picture here of what's going on in Maine? I'm seeing you post stories about GOTV, and major endorsers of "No."

But most of the opposition stories I've seen are just releasing of their ads or emails and fundraising. Rarely have you mentioned ground games or big name (particularly elected) endorsers.

I'm curious what sort of ground game do they have?

Yes on 1's ground game...
I am here in Maine and as far as I can tell, their ground game seems to consist of putting of lots of signs then whining when their signs are taken down (and blaming the No on 1 folks for that). There are also rumors that they are making misleading phone calls. I had one friend who received a call from "Mary in Brunswick" who said she was for/from "Equality in Maine" and then launched into a Yes on 1 spiel. My friend was about to let Mary have it with both barrels when Mary hung up on her.

Last week in the Portland Press Herald there were two separate guest editorials that were pro-Yes on 1 plus one day there was a slew of letters (they tried to pair up each yes letter with a no letter). In yesterday's Sunday Telegram, Marc Mutty had a big long editorial repeating many of the same statements we've all seen in emails and press releases (including the very offensive "any two will do.") In this morning's Press Herald there was guest editorial from a psychiatrist for No on 1 and I hope there will be more this week to balance the number of editorials from last week.

There are some debates scheduled for this week but I'll miss them all (in real-time, at least) since I will be phonebanking and canvassing.

From where I sit (and granted, I am biased) their campaign seems to consist of lying deceitful TV ads and press releases, lots of whining and complaining about No on 1 (we steal their signs and raise too much money) and that's about it. Outside of the tragic trio of Mutty, Malone, and Emrich, they don't seem to have any endorsements that I have heard about.

Quiet one
Honestly, they preach to their choir and do some of the phone banking/ canvassing/ signs up- but primarily are relying on their Schubert-Flint advertisements, LTEs.

As for endorsements- I don't know of any big names/ elected officials. Believe me, if they released any pressers along those lines, I'd post it in a heartbeat!

LD 1020 passed easily and strongly through both chambers. So this lack does not surprise me at all...

Thank you both, Louise, & MaineWriter
Good to hear!

I didn't mean to imply any question of your committment to fair & balanced journalism! ;-) I guess the (LOL) "Tragic Trio" is what they got.

I just wanted to confirm that the impression I'm getting it somewhat accurately reflecting the info we do have. But you and MaineWriter characterize it exactly as I've been seeing here and other blogs.

Sad we're fighting so hard when their fight is apparently so very weak. I guess we're just up against conservative Christianity and that's a powerful force.

9 Maine communities can early vote NOW!
Per Portland Press Herald

In early voting, people cast ballots as they normally would in a voting machine, or in a ballot box, after being checked off the voter list. At the end of the day, the ballots are sealed and locked in a vault. That eliminates much of the clerical work associated with absentee ballots.

This week, early voting will take place in Augusta, Bangor, Cumberland, Falmouth, Gorham, Hallowell, Saco, Scarborough and Standish.
