Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

STATEMENT: LGBT Equality Fight Continues

Country Is Making Progress Despite Setback in Maine

By Jeff Krehely

Maine voters rejected same-sex couple marriage rights yesterday, but other states are moving toward equality.

Maine voters rejected a state law Tuesday that would have allowed same-sex couples to marry. Their repeal comes just six months after the measure was passed by the Maine legislature and signed by the Democratic Governor, John Baldacci.

The vote in Maine to prohibit marriage for same-sex couples is disappointing. Marriage discrimination makes it more difficult for members of same-sex couples to care for each other and their loved ones, and it weakens the critical role families play in our society.

At the same time, it is important to see the bigger picture. In recent years, several states have adopted marriage equality laws, while many others have taken steps toward full equality by implementing civil unions and domestic partnerships. Most important, a clear majority of Americans-76 percent-support some form of relationship recognition for same-sex couples. It is only a matter of time before all couples are recognized and valued, and marriage discrimination becomes a legal and social artifact.

There was also some good election news yesterday for gay and transgender Americans. Voters in Kalamazoo, MI approved adding gay and transgender people to the city's existing nondiscrimination ordinance. This expanded law will make sure everyone in Kalamazoo is treated fairly in employment, public accommodations, and housing. Until a federal nondiscrimination law is passed, it is critically important for cities like Kalamazoo and states to establish their own protections for gay and transgender people.

Finally, initial returns out of Washington State showed voters there approving a domestic partnership law that gives nearly almost all the benefits of marriage at the state level but because of DOMA no federal benefits. This would make Washington the first state to support domestic partnerships by popular vote.

Despite the loss in Maine, the country is still making progress on expanding and defending gay and transgender equality.

Jeff Krehely is the Director of the LGBT Research and Communications Project at American Progress.

AMEN
I am not discouraged. These are not rights lost, nor should they be won. They are ours inherently.

Just say NO!
I'm so sick of getting dragged into marching or funding all the ballot initiative campaigns. When is our judicial system going to get off it's ass and give us the equal protection we're entitled to? The only people getting anything out of these stupid ballot initiative fights are the PR firms on both sides. I'm not interested in contributing another dime to pay for TV time to fund wingnut welfare queens like Maggie Gallagher.

I don't disagree, but...
If Mr. Besen wants to be taken seriously, he shouldn't write sentences that resemble the "which one does not belong with the others" questions that appear on IQ tests.

For instance:

"We are a creative people who produced the likes of Michelangelo, Tennessee Williams, Oscar Wilde and Perez Hilton."

This Is Great!
Some other organization bleeding from the woodwork who wants some cash in there coffers.

You know, if we keep building these fraudulent organizations, GLBTs might actually single-handedly pull the POTUS's ass from the economic fire by creating what can surely be considered his version of the real estate bubble created by Bush.

I've become fed up with this BS. Until we are ready to fight and die and take a few others with us we will gain no such thing as equality.

It'll just continue to be the scraps from the table.

A big FU to the GLBT community from me. I said what was going to happen over twenty years ago and as usual...

I'm right.

You get what you deserve.

No one is free when others are oppressed!

You say "the GLBT community"...
...as if we are all one monolithic community without differentiation.  If you're thinking about Joe Solmonese, please don't put me in the same category as him.  I didn't even vote for Obama because I knew he didn't give a shit about our ultimate equality, as evidenced by his refusal to support marriage equality!  "You get what you deserve" should not be a missile directed at all of us.  That's just bullshit.

20 years ago you couldn't perform same sex marriages in 7 countries and 5 states as well as have them recognized in many others....

11 years ago Matthew Shepard was the victim of one of the most horible hate crimes in LGBT history. Now his name bears the legislation that stands against it a supportive President has just signed.

And 20 years ago there where people like you who believe that its easier to react through hate and violence rather than fight against it. I don't think this one election or even 31 other elections we have lost even begin to cover how wrong you still are. You are 0-3 so far. How is that right?

Always thinking about it...

Agree
I've put plenty of money out there already, I think at some point they should pay us to vote and put our stamp of their ballot:)
