The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

WWJD? Incite Hate Crimes Against LGBT People, according to this "Pastor"

by: waymonhudson

Fri Nov 06, 2009 at 11:05:21 AM EST

The furious explosion of nutjobs over the passage of the Matthew Shepard & James Byrd Hate Crimes Prevention Act continues...

Dr%20Gary%20Cass-thumb-160x220.jpgOur old fundie friend, Pastor Gary Cass of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission (yeah, that's clue number one about his point of view), is back at his gay hating ways.  But this time he's taking it to a whole new level.  Cass and crew are headed to DC on November 16th to protest the Hate Crimes Act in front of the Department of Justice. Their tactic?

They'll be calling for violence against LGBT people to try and get arrested so they can "prove" the Hate Crimes Act infringes on their God given right to beat up fags:
The "Rally for Religious Freedom" in front of the Department of Justice in Washington is intended to force Attorney General Eric Holder either to address the issues or be put in a position of ignoring those who say they are violating the provisions of the federal law, Cass said.  "We're basically going to defy the law, and challenge it," Cass told WND. "We're going to declare the whole counsel of God, including those parts that some may consider 'inciting a hate crime' to see if the attorney general is going to come down and arrest a group of peaceful clergy exercising their First Amendment rights
waymonhudson :: WWJD? Incite Hate Crimes Against LGBT People, according to this "Pastor"
Gary "Let's Incite Hate Crimes for God" Cass has lots of practice passing around the haterade.

Cass is the former head of the Center For Reclaiming America at the late Reverend James Kennedy's Anti-Gay Coral Ridge Ministries. Readers may remember Cass as the charmer who called former head of the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force Matt Foreman a:
radical homosexual activist that slandered the reputations of Christian ministers
when Foreman spoke out against the hate being preached from pulpits after the slaying of transgender teen Simmie Williams Jr.

Cass is also the kind-hearted soul that blasted Bishop Gene Robinson for being openly gay and "bastardizing the church and Bible" at a speaking event my husband hosted at his university. He was also one of Jim "RoboPotty to stop the gays" Naugle's, the former anti-gay mayor of Fort Lauderdale, biggest supporters during the battle with the South Florida LGBT community.

Not to mention he thinks they need guns in churches to fight the infidels...

I have had quite a few face-to-face meetings with Cass and can attest that he truly hates us.  He also loves the media.  So I guess this public fomenting of violence is a match made in twisted fundie heaven for him.

Pastor Cass has every right to espouse his hate-filled bile... and we have every right to call him out for the violent bigot he is.  Hate Crimes legislation has nothing to do with speech, religious beliefs, or thoughts- no matter how disgusting they may be.

In the end, however, this "protest" simply shines a light on the radical, bigoted, violent agenda of these crusaders.

Take a good look, America.

Get ready, folks.
If they want to bring it on; don't be caught napping. Get it on your camera and then kick the living shit out of them.

Pff.
I say get it on your camera. Then Pam can start asking who wants to join the class action lawsuit for assault.

It'd definitely keep their pocketbooks tight, come election time. I see no downside to it.

You know, I bet if the Constitution came with illustrations, we wouldn't have even half the trouble we do today.

A real Christian?
This man is really messed up.
I wonder if he knows how to be a real Christian.
Obviously not because if he was, he'll know that in the bible it read "Love thy neighbor".
It also said that the God that he worships loves all of his children.
If I could meet this man face to face, my question to him would be.. "WWJD? Really? That's all you could come up with?"
Then I'd most likely tell him that he's a really sick man wanting to be up HIS brothers and sisters if he is truly a Christian.
We're not aliens.
We are not abominations.
We are just like him.
He needs to grow up.
I'm 18 and act older then he is.
Looking at his pictures makes me sick.
I need to get off this entry.

Not A Real Christian
Just an unstable person claiming to be a Christian.

Mentally sick people just use the "christian" thing as a shield to make themselves feel better about being untreated lunatics.

This guy should be sharing a cell with Charles Manson.

[ Parent ]
Stop it.
Yes, he is a Christian.

You sound like goddamn morons EVERY SINGLE TIME you label others as not being "real Christians".

Christianity has been anti-gay for centuries longer than it has shown us any sort of mercy, and the Bible contains anti-gay verses, including one that says we should be murdered.

He picks and chooses from the Bible and from the Christian tradition, and so do you.

It is all POINTLESS.

Dallas Principle #4: Religious beliefs are not a basis upon which to affirm or deny civil rights.

[ Parent ]
Beat me to it!
What this man advocates is precisely in accord with the way the Christian church has treated LGBT people for twenty centuries.  All of the touchy-feely Christian crowd need to own up to that honestly instead of trying to bluff it out of existence.  Listening to these people bicker about who is a "real" Christian is like listening to high school debaters argue about whether the holes in Swiss cheese are more n nutritious than the holes in donuts (an exercise my own h.s. debate coach made us repeat endlessly).

You're a Christian if you say you're a Christian, period.  No other standard makes sense.  And this creep's views are perfectly in agreement with the overwhelming preponderance of other people who've called themselves Christians, dating all the way back to Paul of Tarsus.

Americans suffer from an ignorance that is not only colossal, but sacred.  --James Baldwin

Christian is what Christian does
If a sizable or vocal contingent of Xians promotes hatred for self serving gain and the other contingents do not immediately condemn the behavior then that is what defines the group.  It is trivial to behave in a hateful manner while claiming the high road based on the ethereal concepts of the Ten Commandments.  Witness all the high profile sinners that apologize with much contrition and are summarily forgiven for their transgressions of the basics of Xian beliefs.

And we don't publicly call them on it outside of our safe forums.  Nor do we publicly and explicitly call them on the hypocrisy of their legislative H8 campaigns.

We must vocally and publicly call the Xian leaders on their campaigns of hatred.  We need to do two things simultaneously:

ONE: Promote the values that hypothetical Christians hold dear and embrace the Believers' practice of the same.  In other words, promote the following of Jesus Christ's teachings of Love and acceptance and reaching out to those who hate and sin.  We don't have to be believers in their particular brand, but most of the religions that Christianty assimilated in order to build empires believed in the same basic social tenets of respect and cooperation in order to form stable societies.  In other words, show love to the Flock as individuals.

TWO: Loudly and publicly expose the religious leaders as The Devil that is leading the Flock astray in order to increase their personal power and wealth.  Shouldn't be hard to do, but somehow in our social structure, any criticizing of religion has become a huge taboo.  That needs to end, today.

Fair is fair and we need to stick up for ourselves against attacks which are internally inconsistent.  People are entitled to their cosmological beliefs but as fellow humans we have a responsibility to let them know when they are being used.  Expose the frauds, and expose them as leading the believers into evil and away from God and Jesus and Grace.

Do these two things loudly and often and always together, every chance you can.  Seek out the conversations and public forums.  Protest outside churches with signs that say things like "Jesus wanted you to love, not hate".  Make it personal and we can stop this campaign.

In DC, the Congress struck down DC gun laws...
...this is probably a good thing considering these asshats are coming to town.

A legal question
I’ve got a legal question for someone who knows the District code. Isn’t illegal to make a death threat, regardless of the motivation?

I assume that this oxygen thief plans on including “they shall be put to death, their blood is upon them.” Does he have to name a specific target for it to be a death threat? Does he have to name a specific killer?

What would happen if a volunteer showed up to his press conference, announced that ze is non-het, and then asked Mr. Thief specifically whether his statement was a death threat against hirself?

Yes
Any threats designed to upset your well-being can be construed as assault. (Battery is the actual act of being beaten up, according to common criminal tort definition, but assault is almost used interchangably for the two these days.)

However, you generally have to prove a disruption in your well-being somehow, by either curtailing your usual behavior, seeing a shrink for the problem, buying a security system, etc.; basically, something that proves you thought they'd make good on their threat.

You know, I bet if the Constitution came with illustrations, we wouldn't have even half the trouble we do today.

DC's laws are much more restrictive as concerns
threats than in other jurisdictions.  One cannot even post the word faggot on the Washington Blade website in their comments (it's scrambled).  I have even been contacted by the FBI for comments I have made on that website, which were benign.  They closely monitor this stuff here in DC.

Here is information from DCs Metropolitan Police Department on HATE CRIMES (law in effect since 1989):

What Is a Hate Crime?

A hate crime is a crime that is committed against a person because of prejudice or bias. Victims of hate crimes are singled out simply because of their perceived race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, marital status, personal appearance, sexual orientation, family responsibility, physical handicap, matriculation, or political affiliation.

Examples of hate crimes include:

Physical attack
Destruction of property
Cross burnings
Arson
Vandalism
Telephone harassment
Painting swastikas and other hate symbols
Use of racial slurs
Cemetery desecration
Verbal abuse
Firebombing of residences, businesses, and churches

Hate Crimes Are Against the Law

In 1989, the District of Columbia enacted a law to address the problem of hate crimes committed in DC. The law, entitled "The Bias-Related Crime Act of 1989" (DC Code §§ 22-4001 to 22-4004), provides for increased penalties whenever a crime is motivated by bias or hate.

The law also mandates that police in the District of Columbia collect data on bias-related acts and that the Office of the Mayor of the District of Columbia publish an annual report regarding the number and type of bias-related acts reported in the District.

Federal law (The Hate Crimes Statistics Act of 1990) also requires the Metropolitan Police Department to report data on hate crimes to federal authorities annually.

Why Hate Crimes Must Be Stopped

Unlike other crimes that target individuals, bias-related acts have a tremendous effect on an entire community. When one person is targeted because of his or her race, religion, ethnic origin, sexual orientation, or other characteristic, others in the community who were not the direct targets of the hate crime may also feel at risk. Tensions between different communities can also arise as a result of a hate crime.

Why Hate Crimes Should Be Reported

A person who commits a hate crime cannot be brought to justice and held accountable for his or her acts if the crime is not reported. In addition, collecting accurate data on the number of hate crimes is one of the only ways in which police, prosecutors, elected officials, and community organizations can determine the extent of the problem of hate crimes in the District of Columbia.

How Do I Report Hate Crimes?

If you have been the victim of a hate crime, know of, or have witnessed a hate crime, you can report this in several ways.

Call or visit your local Metropolitan Police Department district station.

Call the Hate Crimes Hotline at (202) 727-0500, which has been established by the Metropolitan Police Department to assist victims of hate crimes. Callers can report incidents without having to give their names, addresses, or other personal information.

Mail a written statement with the complaint that contains information to support a claim that the designated act constitutes a bias-related crime. Statements should be mailed to:
Hate Crimes Coordinator
Intelligence Cection
Metropolitan Police Department
300 Indiana Ave., NW
Washington, DC 20001
Report hate crimes to the community organizations listed below.

About the DC Bias Crimes Task Force

The DC Bias Crimes Task Force was founded in 1996 to increase community awareness of the problem of hate crimes. The goal of the Task Force is to provide assistance to the victims of hate crimes, bring those responsible for bias-related crimes to justice, and strengthen the partnership between law enforcement, prosecutors, and community groups in preventing and responding to hate crimes.

Assistance for Victims of Hate Crimes

Victims of hate crimes can suffer serious and long-lasting traumatic stress that can seriously alter their lives. The Metropolitan Police Department wants to assist by putting you in touch with services in the District of Columbia that are available to help. Listed below are the names and telephone numbers of organizations that offer counseling, referrels, and other asistance

History, I believe, furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a free civil government.-- Thomas Jefferson

If I'm reading this correctly...
these folks think that anti-gay rhetoric will constitute a hate crime and they'll be arrested for it.  It won't.  They'll only have proven to the world that they're full of shit.

Exactly
Prosecution for a "hate crime" still requires a CRIME.  It's even spelled out, word-for-word, in the very name of the concept.

In my book, even a fundie couldn't be dumb enough to miss that - which just goes to show how far they're willing to knowingly stretch the truth, as a cynical political calculation to galvanize their hateful base.

[ Parent ]
Okay but..
if the above D.C. laws are that strict then it may now be a crime to use anti-gay slurs. If this is the case, the religious people will have made their case - you know, the whole "told you so" thing. But, it wouldn't be told to others that the particular D.C. circumstances would not be the same all over the country. Is this correct?

Find all GLBTQ current events in USA here: www.theglbtactivist.org

[ Parent ]
If the D.C. laws follow the British example...
(and in many cases, US laws do mirror British hate speech laws) only incitement to violence &/or hatred will be covered. There's a damned fine hair split by the use of the term "incitement to hatred": it allows religious people to say that "gay sex is evil", but not that "homosexuals are evil". The former is a theological statement (even if it's massively erroneous IMO) while the latter is incitement to hatred. This is why there have been few (if any) anti-gay hate-speech convictions in the UK: any Christian who follows the "love the sinner, hate the sin" meme cannot break hate-speech laws like the one I described above.

Incitement to violence is a different matter - secular law overrides religious dogma in this case because any jurisdiction with separation of church and state cannot excuse violence for religious reasons - freedom of belief, the right to hold repulsive views, is protected; freedom of action, of physically harming another because they offend your religious sensibilities, must never be. This is a lesson that should have been learned courtesy of the KKK, but seemingly has not been. Therefore the law would make no distinction between those that state that "the Bible tells us to kill homosexuals" (it doesn't) and "the Bible tells us to kill those who have gay sex" (only true if you're a brain-dead Biblical literalist).

Violence Works Both Ways
and whoever the innocent person the hate crime is committed against, I'd fully support their friends and family going after this old queen and his family.

But not before ripping off his cheap toupee and taking a picture.

What DID Jesus Do??
If you look at this bigot's King James Bible, you'll see that the Pharisees made the same sort of death threats against Jesus BECAUSE Jesus was inclusive of those they hated.  I don't want to join the "real Christian" debate, because "real Christians" have been both a positive and decidedly negative influence on society and culture.

These mfer's have very little to associate them with Jesus.  They are the same as the others who have killed prophets (including Jesus and MLK Jr.) since the beginning of time.  We need to expose them for who they are.

This idiot is just volunteering to expose himself (lol).

Hold on, did he really say "fierce abrogate"?

Jesus was scandalously liberal.
Jesus did not follow any of the rules of the Old Testament.  His entire ministry was a reaction AGAINST the draconian nastiness of the Old Testament.  That is why he and his work were such a scandal at the time.

Christian extremists are rabidly following the very parts of the bible Jesus rabidly defied and preached against, yet they say they are doing it in Jesus' name.

They are proclaiming the exact opposite of everything Jesus stood for.

Wrong.
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Matthew 10:34.  See?

When are you going to figure out that you can justify anything, quite literally anything, by using the Bible?  You pick the verses you like, they do the same.  It's like the Red Queen's race in Alice in Wonderland: you can run as fast as you want, but you always stay in the same place.

Americans suffer from an ignorance that is not only colossal, but sacred.  --James Baldwin

[ Parent ]
Completely debunked
Matthew 10:34 was completely debunked as a later addition by the "Christian" community by the Jesus Seminar scholars.  This saying is based on something first proclaimed by Micah. (Micah 7:5-6) I strongly encourage you to read the publications of the Jesus Seminar and Marcus J. Borg.  (my info taken from pages 173-174 of "The Five Gospels" ed. Robert Funk and Roy Hoover.)

Modern "christianity" (and the modern New Testament) bears very little relation to what Jesus actually said and did.

[ Parent ]
The whole damn Bible has been debunked.
That doesn't stop pig-ignorant yobbos from claiming it is "inerrant" and trying to enact public policy based on it.  Since there is absolutely no way of knowing one way or the other what Jesus "really" said, or what the facts of his life were or were not, it's a pointless discussion.  And since at least half of "what Jesus really said" is based on the Old Testament prophets, pointing out that this particular passage originates in Micah proves nothing about its "authenticity" one way or the other.

This passage is in the Bible, the actual, authentic Word of God(TM), and we're stuck with it--along with the whole damned silly book, talking asses, four-legged insects, man-eating whales that don't digest what they eat, virgin births and all.  I repeat: you can justify anything you want by finding a relevant verse in the Bible.  It's a game anyone can play, but with no conceivable point.

Americans suffer from an ignorance that is not only colossal, but sacred.  --James Baldwin

[ Parent ]
It may have no conceivable point,
but it certainly seems to be very important to you.

Which is why I suggested some good resources for you to investigate.

One of the nice things about being old is that I'm way beyond those throes of angst over religion you young folks are struggling with.

Eventually you will realize that Jesus was a pretty cool dude, Buddha had a great point, and you can appreciate the baby while still throwing out the bathwater.

[ Parent ]
Young?
I'm 61, so thank you for the compliment (unintentional though it was).  I've spent my life listening to condescending crap from religious apologists like you.  I have had enough, and I'll be damned if I'll sit quietly while you promote it. You can take your "good resources," all of which turn out to be pro-Christian, and put them where the intelligently-designed moon don't shine.

I know this won't penetrate, but I'll try one last time:  You have no idea whether Jesus was "a pretty cool dude."  What you know is that the fictional character in the Bible--or rather, in the parts of the Bible you choose to endorse--was "a pretty cool dude."  Confusing that with any kind of reality is perfectly foolish.

Americans suffer from an ignorance that is not only colossal, but sacred.  --James Baldwin

again with the wackos expecting special rights
if a group gathered on the steps shouting about how they hate christians and they should die, these fools would be clamoring for their arrest.  they don't want equal rights, they want special privileges and are trying to force acceptance of their aberrant lifestyle choices.  no, not just acceptance, but for people to celebrate them as superior and to silence those who disagree with them.

folk the war

Yet another "gotcha" moment
If DOJ and/or police ignore them, they will claim victory. That will embolden someone to do a real hate crime down the road. If they are arrested they will use the "persecuted christian" card. That would embolden someone also. You know, the "christian martyr" type.

Cisgender. Because the term "Genetic" is so 2006.

I think it's a pretty safe bet
that Holder, who as AG has ultimate responsibility in the DOJ for the "hate brief" defending DOMA, and who just recently claimed not to know that gay marriage was up for a vote in Maine, will give these creeps a pass, no matter what they say or do.  After all, his boss has assured him that God's in the mix.

And if fighting them on the faith-based level isn't your cup of tea, support those who will do it for you. www.standingonthesideoflove.org

DEFINITELY get all this on camera- And use it in ads!
Look. Our current strategy for gay rights campaign ads just isn't working. Witness Maine and California. We produce warm 'n fuzzy ads showing gay couples expecting the reaction will be, "See? They're not so bad!" It does not work. They produce ads full of lies that claim kindergarteners will be taught about gay sex; they use the "But what about the CHILDREN?!" card, even if they have to lie to do it.

So we need to go on the attack and tell voters who these people REALLY are! Show voters their true faces by using footage from rallies like these. Show their connections to other groups that are racist or want Creationism taught in schools or other out-of-the-mainstream beliefs. Show them the true face of hate on these issues and then associate voting for whatever the anti-gay ballot initiative as agreement with the "Reverend" Casses of the world. Make them feel revulsion toward the people associated with the anti-gay initiatives and their disgusting words and actions.

Do not physically attack them, use their own words to show their true face to the world. Use Cass' words even if he isn't directly involved in the local campaign, the same way they use footage from a Castro district parade in an ad talking about gays everywhere. Use attack ads against them the way they have used them against us. It's time to take off the gloves.

?????
I'm trying to imagine a bunch of pastors proselytizing against gays....why, they do it all of the time! They hate us. No new news there. So what happens if they don't get arrested? I guess it would mean they were wrong (gasp!)

And another thing...how can they begin to call what they're doing "peaceful"? I'm reaaaal sick of them playing the victims.

What I'd "like" to see is them taking down a homosexual. Do they have one lined up already or are they going to pick one off the street?

Find all GLBTQ current events in USA here: www.theglbtactivist.org

Let's remember
Some years back, there was a white supremacist by the name of Tom Metzger who had a group called White Aryan Resistance.

He "trained" a bunch of racist skinhead thugs, who subsequently murdered an Ethiopian man.

Morris Dees of the SPLC sued Metzger and his group and forced him into bankruptcy, and forced Metzger to sell his house and everything he owned in order to start paying off the judgement against him.

If anyone from this fascist group incites a member to assault or kill a TLBG person, or one even suspected of being family, they should be taken not only to criminal court, but civil court as well, so bigots like these find out the hard way that free speech has consequences and responsibilities.

This mob is no better than WAR, the Klan, the American Nazi Party, or any other hate group.

Listen to "TransTalk" every Monday from 4-5pm ET on http://falconradio.org

We need your help to pass two referenda in Bowling Green, Ohio!! Find out how you can help by going to www.onebowlinggreen.org

And the SPLC will do the same
if the rhetoric results in an assault on a GLBTQ individual.

I worried that I was seeing sinister motives where there were none
when I posted after his first post Shepard Act press release. His language seemed to indicate the unthinkable, inciting violence against us to be able to challenge the act in Court.

I not only did not exaggerate the implications, I underestimated his evil.

I am afraid that the USSC might possibly strike down the act making it open season on us all.....We can be sure, however, that if we get republican majorities in Congress and a Huckabeeor Palin or Romney presidency that they will repeal the act.
