Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

New York State Senate Puts Marriage Equality Vote On "Indefinite Hold"

by: Louise

Tue Nov 10, 2009 at 17:00:00 PM EST

More "Hurry Up And Wait" for marriage equality...

The State Senate delayed a highly anticipated vote on same-sex marriage on Tuesday, putting off the issue indefinitely as gay rights supporters continued to lobby for additional votes.

Republicans and Democrats said that as of Tuesday afternoon, the measure was still several votes short of the 32 necessary for approval. About five Democrats remained either opposed or noncommittal, meaning that Republican votes were needed to secure passage.

But not enough Republicans have committed to voting yes, legislators said. The Democrats have a 32-30 majority in the Senate.

It was unclear when the Senate would take the issue up.

NYCLU released the following statement:

NYCLU: Failure to Vote on Marriage Bill a Missed Opportunity

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 10, 2009 - The New York Civil Liberties Union today expressed disappointment about the State Senate's failure to vote on legislation to give lesbian and gay couples the ability to marry in New York State.

"The senators missed an opportunity to make history and embrace fairness for all New York families," said NYCLU Executive Director Donna Lieberman. "Marriage is a defining civil rights issue of our day, and unfortunately, the State Senate has taken a position of 'no action' on it."

The State Assembly passed the marriage bill in May, and Governor Paterson had pledged his support for it. The bill includes a religious exemption to make clear that it only impacts marriage as a civil institution - clergy will not have to solemnize marriages should the Senate approve the bill.

"The time for our senators to stop the political maneuvering and lay their cards on the table is long overdue," Lieberman said. "Do they support fairness and protecting families or not?"

Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Vermont and Iowa have legalized marriage for lesbian and gay couples, but New Yorkers remain unable to get married in their home state.

In June, the NYCLU launched www.MarriageNY.com, a website featuring a dozen New York couples explaining why the right to get married matters to them.

Who are those five Democrat Senators?
Diaz we know.  So who are the other 4 who think we should pay equal taxes in order to be second class citizens?

Why is this annoucment not a surprise to me?

No surprise whatsoever
In fact, I dare say this has become boringly predictable.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même merde.

disappointing, but not unexpected
Now it's up to NJ to show how it's done. Any hope for marriage equality before Corzine leaves office?

Not supporting NYS Dem party at all in 2010
I will give financial support to my state senator and local assembly person because they support marriage equality.  But when I receive my request for donations from the state party, my response to it will be:

"Our household cannot afford to give you even one dime.  We had to spend a lot money to legally wed in Canada.  Since my spouse and I couldn't get married in New York (and still cannot) we brought our loved ones up to Canada to share this most important day with us.

"Have a super 2010!

"Be regards,"

(I'd like to write "F**K OFF P***Y COWARDS!!!" but that might seem like a little too much.)

Can someone explain why the Republicans are so afraid of what happened to Scozzafava happening to them?  In the end, a Dem who supports marriage equality won.

But of course
Any consideration of Trans rights must wait until this issue is resolved.

There is no situation so complex it can't get even worse

That's what I was thinking.
No visible anger about GENDA being sidelined, it's all about marriage.

[ Parent ]
Diaz is famously anti-trans
so there was never a chance of that.

"If their sex is woman, why would they believe they are a man?" I believe in what God created: man and woman."

I tell you Chica that no greater abomination exists than women denying their spirit of sisterhood and instead becoming the oppressor. -Rebeca, Universidad Complutense de Madrid

[ Parent ]
ENDA is moving (hopefully)
ENDA seems to be finally starting to move at the federal level. It's inclusive and, if passed, would make GENDA (and New York's existing SONDA) superfluous anyhow.

[ Parent ]
Not so.
ENDA does not address housing. State anti-discrimination laws relating to housing are still very, very necessary.

[ Parent ]
Do these asshole realize
that out of state gay marriages are recognized in their own fucking state? So why not extend it to us damn tax payers?

Diaz is making his anti-gay stance the cement of his power base
"If they're going to put another pro-gay person against Padavan, my churches are ready now, they're ready to work for Padavan," the senator continued. "They are ready to work for anyone with the agenda, the conservative agenda, the religious agenda."

No surprise, ideed!
Republicans and Democrats said that as of Tuesday afternoon, the measure was still several votes short of the 32 necessary for approval. About five Democrats remained either opposed or noncommittal, meaning that Republican votes were needed to secure passage.

They knew this was the case back in April and Gov Paterson introduced marriage equality legislation anyway.  GENDA and DASA were thus effectively scuttled.  You can bet that a great many gender variant people in NY, along with their GLB and straight allies, are angry, furious even, about this but I doubt you'll hear much about it in the GLB press since the largest GLB(t) political group in NY, the Empire State Pride Agenda, have been willing participants in this fiasco.

I guess it's true that ESPA still hasn't moved past their willingness to sacrifice the trans community for GLB political advances, as they did back in 2002, although I had hoped they had.  When it comes down to brass tacks, they are still perfectly willing to ignore the desperate needs of the gender variant people within their own community for their own political gain.
