Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

No On 1 Documentary

by: Louise

Fri Nov 13, 2009 at 20:00:00 PM EST

Watch this. Now.

Blockquotes are statements released by the producers of this documentary, done in 2 parts because of YouTube size restrictions.

In May, 2009, the Maine Legislature extended marriage rights to gay and lesbian couples.  As expected, opponents of equality, led by the National Organization for Marriage and the Catholic Church, petitioned to have those rights put to a vote by referendum.

This film chronicles the final days of the on-the-ground campaign to protect marriage equality in Maine.

NO ON ONE - The Campaign to Protect Marriage Equality in Maine - Part One

NO ON ONE - The Campaign to Protect Marriage Equality in Maine - Part Two

The Democratic National Committee ignored the fight to protect marriage for all couples in Maine, neglecting to donate funds to the cause (even though they reportedly raised over a million dollars from gay donors in June of this year) or to mobilize potentially thousands of volunteers through its Organizing for America arm.  The DNC even sent emails to voters in Maine urging them to help with Joe Corzines failed gubernatorial reelection in New Jersey, potentially diverting needed volunteers, but also showing that they deemed the fight for marriage equality unworthy of their attention.  President Obama never acknowledged the NO ON ONE campaign.

If marriage equality is to be fought for on a state-by-state basis, then our national gay rights organizations should hold the DNC and President Obama responsible for their inaction in Maine and in other state battles.

And so should we.

WHAT WE CAN DO:
President Obama was elected cashing our checks and making promises to our community, but so far he has failed to be the fierce advocate for gay rights that he said he would be.  The gay community is being told to wait, and be patient-hes only been in office a year.  But many of us have been waiting for decades.  Were being told to wait while hundreds of much-needed soldiers are being thrown out of the military under Dont Ask Dont Tell (DADT), a policy President Obama could end today with an executive stop-loss order.  Were being told to wait while it is still legal in over thirty states to be fired from your job just for being gay, a practice we could end by passing the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA).  Were being told to wait while the administration puts off repealing the so-called Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), a law his justice department has defended by comparing loving gay relationships to incest and pedophilia.  Were being told to wait even while we have an overwhelming majority in the House, a filibuster-proof Senate, and a President who promised action on all of the aforementioned issues.  It is unlikely that we will sustain this Democratic super-majority, so if not now, then when?

John Aravosis and Joe Sudbay of AMERICAblog have launched a donor boycot of the Democratic National Committee, Organizing for America, and the Obama campaign until Congress and the President pass ENDA and repeal DADT and DOMA,  as was promised during campaign season, when the gay community gave plenty and worked hard to get Democratic candidates elected.

We encourage you to read more about it and sign the pledge here.

This NEW LEFT MEDIA film was produced and edited by Chase Whiteside (interviews) and Erick Stoll (camera).

The words of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.

Actions speak louder than words
and our dollars will also tell their story...

Signed the pledge.... posted to fb and blasted.

it's well done
for me it's too soon to have a scab hardly formed ripped off again.

"race, taste. and History finally overcome....and you ain't there"
by Tony Kushner

Sigh.. I know.
But other sites were going to be showing it this weekend, so... I really felt I had to share it here as well, petey.

Believe me, it was not easy to watch it through nor post, because of all of the hard work, efforts, money and encouragement Blenders overwhelmingly gave. As my sisterfriend Dawn wrote, Wednesday felt like the day before a funeral and we were all gut-punched. I was very glad that the clip ended where it did and just touched upon the reactions. I didn't cry until I saw Joe Sudbay, who was so strong and consoled ME (and of course, I'm tearing up NOW remembering).

But- people here are healing. Slowly- some faster than others. Maybe it's because we really don't have much choice; maybe it's because we're still a team. This defeat did not stop us or break our resolve- more on that in the next few weeks.

We will get back what we lost. And when we do, we will defend marriage equality forever.

(((HUGS)))

the loss totally sucks, but...
i'm still encouraged by maine's history of tenacity when it comes to passing and re-passing civil rights laws until they stick.  see: anti-discrimination law.  and besides, maine has Louise.  what more need be said?

Lurleen on Twitter.

Louise, you shouldn't have done this...
I was actually OK until I saw super volunteer Jimmy in the video (not speaking).

Now the tears and the anger have welled up all over again.

Oh, well...can't be mad at you...

I'm sorry
Big, big hugs to you and JohnVisser. What a wonderful evening we all had, until... you know.

Love you kev. Do not lose hope- we lost by 32,000 and identified so many supporters.

This will happen.

Eh, oh well
I was warned about this by some of the vacation volunteers from California. They were right.

Now this whole battle taken on a really, really personal dimension that did not exist before.

[ Parent ]
I mean,...look, you people
I don't cry easily. AT ALL!

Now take ACTION.
From my friend Dawn, who also posted these clips on her site:

And now that you've watched, if you're a registered Democrat, it would be nice if you could send a note to both of the following entities. And please write it out, PRINT IT OUT and MAIL IT. E-mails disappear. Written letters on paper must be noted, opened and saved. This is important enough to spend 44 cents on a stamp, for crying out loud.

So please write to President Obama at:

President Barack Obama
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

Switchboard: 202-456-1414
FAX: 202-456-2461

TTY/TDD
Comments: 202-456-6213
Visitors Office: 202-456-2121

And you might want to mention that there is no longer a GLBT page on the White House issues page. There was one when he got elected. There is no longer anything about the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act or that dumb-ass Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy. Where the hell did our "fearless advocate" go? Hmm?

And to the Democratic National Committee at:
Democratic National Committee
430 S. Capitol St. SE
Washington, DC 20003

Main Phone Number:
202-863-8000

What are some of the ideas bouncing around up there for a next step?
Lobbying the Statehouse to pass it again?

How do prospects look on the court level?

Will let everyone know
all of that in probably another month. Maybe sooner.

Right now, there is an active assessment going on via surveys sent out to everyone involved with the campaign and Q&A meetings scheduled statewide for early next month.

As for going through the State House- the soonest that could occur would be (I THINK) in 2011, with the next legislative session. So that makes the 2010 elections, including Maine's gubernatorial race, critical.

Regarding courts- I have not heard enough to say whether or not that is being discussed as a viable option. Certainly there's been alot of talk among individuals... again, when I know something I will certainly report back.

Thanks for the update
as my anger fades it's being replaced by optimism for the future. Have only visited Maine a few times and my contributions to the last campaign were purely financial and not on the ground.

Just seems to me if Mainers choose to go back to the ballot in the next few years even more attention will have to be paid to rural and northern Maine. Portland and the surrounding area have a completely different feel. And there is no question who the winner was there.

Time to cross enemy lines as it were.

I absolutely agree
and my own suggestions were very similar to this. The Bangor Daily graphic I put up last weekend clearly showed what needs to be done imo.

Thanks for sharing the video ...
I used it to hit people over the head for the next battle.

I can't find the article
It's either on a google news search of Maggie Gallagher or NOM donors and I believe it's Nov 10th.
Gallagher is bragging how they won't be forced to release their donors and no court case is pending to make them do so.

THIS is why the videos is still to soon, we don't even have the names of the putrid folks who attacked our families. Is there any lists of who the Reject Ref 71 donors?

I'm fairly certain the LDS endorsing the SLC ENDA was in fear of their donors being released.
