"If you're gay, lesbian, or bisexual, would you sacrifice for your trans neighbors and siblings? If you're trans, would you sacrifice for your gay, lesbian, or bisexual neighbors and siblings? It's something worth knowing about yourself and those around you."

Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Pam Spaulding :: NY: How the state Senate voted to defeat marriage equality - full roll call
HUGE MARRIAGE VICTORY IN NEW YORK!!!
December 2, 2009
Follow us on Twitter!Join us on Facebook!Donate

The New York state senate just rejected gay marriage 38 to 24. Praise God!

And thank you. NOM spent $600,000 reaching out to voters through phone calls and television and radio ads to make sure politicians heard from ordinary voters like you.

Gay marriage inevitable? Don't believe the lie! You can make a difference and we at NOM are so proud to work with you and millions of other ordinary Americans who know in their hearts that marriage IS the union of husband and wife.

It has been a real privilege to work alongside so many state leaders determined to protect marriage in New York. Special thanks to Rev. Jason McGuire of New Yorkers for Constitutional Freedoms for his tireless efforts on the ground, and to State Senator Ruben Diaz who was in his office praying before the vote and has been a true leader on this issue.

And to all of you in New York, a special thank you. I know sometimes we ask you over and over again to make phone calls and emails to your elected officials, but it is your phone calls and emails that ultimately made the difference today. Up until the last minute, Sen. Tom Duane was assuring everyone that he had the votes to pass the bill. But when push came to shove, New York legislators listened to their constituents and soundly rejected same-sex marriage.

This great victory will reverberate up and down America, putting the fear of God--and the American voter--into the hearts of weak-kneed and weak-willed politicians everywhere.

Usually, I don’t ask for donations in victory emails like this, but I feel I must make you aware of our urgent needs today. We have totally over-extended ourselves in the fight to protect marriage in Maine, New York, and New Jersey. Our accounts are empty, and we desperately need to raise funds now so that we are ready when the next fight arises.

Nothing to discuss
We're the last "minority" it's safe to hate.

Hmm
All the talk was meaningless because with that vote they must have know ahead of time that the bill didn't have a chance.

I just wrote to my Senator
and told him he just lost my vote for his re-election.  I know that I am in a minority as a Catholic, stay-at-home Mom, republican but I believe the right to marry is a basic human right and should not be denied on any basis.  Christ said the greatest commandment was to love one another.  This is not showing love, just pure ignorance and stupidity.

Thanks for your support Terilianne!!
You know, with the GLBTQ population estimated to only be 5% of the population (I personally believe that is on the low side) it will take many more straight folks and people of faith like you to help us turn this ugly corner of discrimination to equality.  Please, please, please keep speaking to your friends and family about this issue. You are an activist of the most powerful kind and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

PS, I have been legally married for 1.5 years now and it has totally rocked my world.  This is why I am more energized than ever to see to it that every GLBTQ american gets the same opportunity.  I am assuming that your imputus is in the same vein.

City no votes
I'm amazed by all of the "no" votes from the boroughs. What is up with the no votes from Queens? Queens voting no...that'd be funny if it weren't so depressing.

Queens is full of "traditional" people and the politicians are scared
Caribbean, European and Latino immigrants who still go to church regularly. Asian immigrants. Maybe some Orthodox Jews in the mix.

...Ready to Go!!

Had the Dems just stuck together....
Well, you can do the math.

"When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all." ~God

They can't
Republicans can usually muster party discipline when they want because they have a more consistent reactionary platform.  Democrats are still a "big tent" party, and the tent includes a good number who are just not good on our issues.

What we need in 2010 is enough of a Democratic majoprity in the state Senate so that the Ruben Diaz, Sr. types who will never vote correctly on our issues become irrelevant.  Te big tent party needs a bigger majority to be effective than the more disciplined, more consistent, (but more evil), Republicans.

We see who the Dem enemies are now.
Every one of those eight Dems who voted against equality needs to draw a strong primary challenge. Now that we know who they are, let's mobilize against them. They need to be made example of...they need to feel the full fury of the LGBT population of New York. We need to start now to reach out now to prospective challengers in their districts and let them know we'll be behind whoever supports equality with our money and our organizational efforts.

The Citizens of each State shall be entitled to all Privileges and Immunities of Citizens in the several States. - The U.S. Constitution Article IV.Section. 2. Clause 1

Screw those b*st*rds!
All the anti-equality "Democrats" need to be primaried ASAP! I am so disappointed right now.

Act on Principles and make equality happen.

All but 2 of the Democratic traitors ...
are from New York City.  What did we do to mobilize their constituents?

And I heard Montserrate was endorsed by the progressive Working Families Party.  How did we let him get away with that?

In my experience
The Working Families Party is all over the place politically, even endorsing Republicans.  I think they've got a reputation as leftist, but I really haven't figured them out yet.  Certainly, I haven't seen much out of them to suggest that they're very progressive.

Monserrate campaigned pro-marriage equality
He probably voted no to stick it to the Democratic caucus that's going to kick him out for being convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence

I helped elect Joe Addabbo
I volunteered for Joe Addabbo's campaign in 2008, when he defeated Repub Serf Maltese.  He had an excellent LGBT record in NYC council.  ESPA and Gill Action both sank money in to get him elected.  A Tom Duane staffer was a major player on his campaign.  And THEN he votes against us?

What a slap in the face.  I will put in TEN times the effort into unseating him in the primaries as I did into getting him elected.  What a hypocritical, backstabbing jerk.

Make sure you contact Joe Addabbo

Brian Lehrer Show
Received a tip from MENY that Joe will be on the Brian Lehrer show tomorrow(Friday)so why not confront him "live" about how he backstabbed our community.  The call-in number is 212-433-9692.

It looks like their own press release
gives the lie to NOM's frequently asserted claim that they are not motivated by religion.  If they're not, what the hell is "Praise God!" doing in their headline?

Americans suffer from an ignorance that is not only colossal, but sacred.  --James Baldwin

The Other List
Since we called out the list of Dems who voted no, it's worth mentioning the list of Republicans voting yes is empty.  So while we work of replacing hostile Dems in the primaries, let's not forget to replace hostile Republicans in the elections.

There were 3 who flipped to NO after being expected as YES
I know that Hiram Monseratte is one of the three rats who turned coats on expected YES votes; I am not sure of the other two. The count I had from Marriage Equality New York in June had Marriage Equality losing by 5 votes.

Good News: Ruth Hassell-Thompson was expected to be a YES and did come through with a YES!

Having the actual vote made the senators who were telling us they would vote YES and telling the opponents they would vote NO to register their official vote.  Now we know who we have to work against, and who we need to support.  My Senator, Suzi Oppenheimer, voted YES.  It looks much less likely that I will be running for State Senate unless she decides to retire.

Hiram Monseratte
When will he go to jail? After the end of his term or before?

[ Parent ]
I have no idea - he probably has a stay pending appeals . . . [EOM]

PROTEST TONIGHT IN NYC
"Angry about the NY Marriage Equality vote.....TIMES SQUARE, 6PM TONIGHT, TKTS STAIRS....spread it!!!"

Post on Facebook, retweet, GET THE WORD OUT!!  There is also talk of disrupting the tree-lighting ceremony at Rockefeller Center.

Good news
Make sure they know the community is angry and energized to fight back.

We have to find a good name to define Dems unseated in primaries... Republicans are "scozzafavad", Dems are... any suggestions?

[ Parent ]
see what
happens when you cut off the money train to all those Dem's, the other face comes in to play..

The only Different between the Dem's and the GOP is the Gop tell you to your face that they don't like you.. the Dem's do it behind your back//

the NY Dems didn't get enough money to vote yes...

NOM will add this to their arsenal
of BS...another "liberal" state says no to gay marriage.

I know many people think the vote itself is a victory because it shows who our enemies are. But I still disagree. And feel that continually slamming our heads against this brick wall is getting old. We need to focus on issues that have broader public support for now.

Of course they will
They have to, otherwise their brainless donors would stop sending Buxx for Maggie's paycheck. Even if they had little influence on the stall.

tit for tat
I recommend checking out this link (it's not NY but...):

http://www.religiondispatches....

I know I should be upset
And I know I should be hopping mad and ready to get something started. But all I can do is giggle to myself over the fact that so many of the no votes for marriage equality came from "Queens". I know I'ma git in trouble but what the hell. ;)

Always thinking about it...

You didn't hear this from me...
'cause I'm not one to gossip BUT...

the NY queens are PISSED (I would be too)

And NY State Senator Carl Kruger is catching hell!
