The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Condemnation For Buju Banton's Grammy Nod

L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center Condemns Grammy Nomination for "Murder Musician" Buju Banton

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 4, 2009-In response to the appalling Grammy nomination for Buju Banton, a performer whose music promotes the violent murder of LGBT people, the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center Chief Public Affairs Officer Jim Key issued the following statement:

"We're shocked that Buju Banton, a singer with a long record of performing a song that glorifies the murder of gay people, would be honored with a Grammy nomination, regardless of the artistic merit of any of his work.

Throughout his career, Banton has performed music that promotes a culture of violence against lesbian and gay people; he sings in "Boom, Bye Bye" that "faggots get up and run" when he comes, that "they have to die," and that he will shoot them in the head or "burn them up bad."

He is completely unrepentant, refuses to stop performing the song, and recently said, "There is no end to the war between me and faggots."

Banton's music has helped foster such an anti-gay culture in his home country of Jamaica-where several prominent gay activists and many other LGBT people have been murdered-that Time magazine recently asked, 'Is Jamaica the most homophobic place on Earth?' Banton himself was charged with a violent anti-gay hate crime.

It's an affront to LGBT people, and to all fair-minded people around the world, that Buju Banton was even nominated. We certainly hope the members of the Recording Academy will not bestow the prestigious honor of a Grammy on someone whose music promotes murder."

Why do we always play nice ?
I think it's time for the GLBT "community" to start being a great deal more aggressive about what we demand, and that's equality.

If he were singing about "Jews", "Whites" or ANYBODY else, it would not be tolerated.  But lets face it, we are the only scapegoat left that it's OK to fuck with.

= equality isn't free =

No there are plenty others
They're just not paid attention to as often.

I hope he's BOOED out of the grammys
If he wins, I'd want the audience to get up and leave.

boycott
This compels a boycott as much as anything imaginable.   And not just a boycott but a picket line style protest.  The hideous nature of this man's art should be denounced in no uncertain terms.   To recognize it with a nomination is inappropriate.  Jah'll hear me !!!!   Jah is Love not Hate !!

If we could find the advertisers of the grammy' s we could start telling them to pull out

"The tragedy of love is indifference." - W. Somerset Maugham.

As painful, even gutwrenching each of our defeats are in direct battle for not just our equality but our dignity...NYC...Maine...California...sometimes I think these instances of passive bigotry, indifference, actually, to our oppressors who strut the earth with ultimate impunity, is more damaging still.

Eminem has a new song out in which the written lyrics don't read "faggot" but, spoken, they do.

Sorry Lance, Mr. Lambert and Aiken ain't gonna make it They get so mad, when I call them both fake it's....

Not to ignore:

I lashed at the doctor in my last operation
Shoved the weiner snitzel up his ass

Where's GLAAD? Is MTV playing it...just as they MADE HIM a star...all the while taking bows for how gay-friendly they are while taking cash from pimping homohaters? Last time I looked, a couple of years ago, you could buy Buju downloads through MTV's site.

Is David Mixner right? Is it going to take civil disobedience for mainstream society to take us seriously...to think BEFORE they, say, nominate a gay murder-mongering psychopath for an award?

It's going to take civil disobedience to get anything now
because out country and this administration has written off our concern.

American Church groups along with Anglican and Catholic officials have installed Nuremberg style anti-gay laws in two countries that the US does business with. We embargoes South Africa over apartheid. We are doing nothing over the first few steps of a Final Solution for LGBT's in Africa partly incited by and funded by Americans.

We could demand an embargo or better still, begin to disrupt Ugandan and Nigerian government offices in the US and most certainly the so called churches that helped create this nightmare, chuches in the US.

Yes WHERE is GLAAD.... oh, that's right it must have been GALA night.

"If the time isn't ripe, we have to ripen the time."
DOROTHY HEIGHT

[ Parent ]
The Gala is the problem...
...GLAAD has gotten itself into the position where it depends upon the Gala to pay its bills, but now that the Gala is televised, it depends upon the kindness of studios and recording companies to allow their artists to appear. So the last thing GLAAD wants to do is offend the studios or its executives, the very people it was supposed to be watchdogging.  Talk about painting yourself into a corner.

That no one is talking about this makes me crazy.

[ Parent ]
GLAAD is dealing with another brouhaha...sad
[ Parent ]
Priorities?
Banton ought to be a bigger issue.

[ Parent ]
Any LGBT person working in the music industry...
...should walk off their jobs on the day of the Grammy Awards ceremony.  Especially the support crews for the actual ceremony.

Hate stops a beating heart.

...and per Rachel the LAW in UGANDA will pass.

Gays with AIDS will be HUNG!, known gays imprisioned, and if you know a gay and don't report him, you will go to jail for 3 years. It will be extraditable so UGANDAN gays cannot hide out away from Uganda.

And our State Department... is 'starting to look at it!'.

Doesn't this remind anyone in this country of the BEGINNING of the HOLOCAUST.

Further news. Obama's fathers tribe is one of the largest in the country... no wonder he is possibly a closet HOMOPHOBE????

Agree, the fact that you could be jailed for even trying to hide gays, definitely has a Nazi Germany vibe to it.  The Obama closet homophobe comment is just nuts though.

[ Parent ]
I didn't make it Rachel did.... e.g by association.

We have heard very little by way of condemnation from our State Department...

but they are 'looking into it' supposedly to decide if its good or bad I guess.

"If the time isn't ripe, we have to ripen the time."

[ Parent ]
WHY is questioning Obama's real feelings "nuts"?

He opposes marriage equality in the name of "God"...so do the recognized homophobes. [While I don't recall her ever so explicitly injecting religion into the topic, the larger reason that her opposition is irrelevant is that he won; he's the one we must judge now not just by words but by deeds.]

He told Catholic media that he struggles between his belief in the Bible and our CIVIL rights every day.

His appointees have repeatedly defended DOMA and DADT in court papers ..."the law" over our equality when in CAMPAIGN promises to us he declared "equality is a moral imperative." He has even gone so far as to defend his refusal to use his Congressionally mandated powers to issue an executive order stopping gay discharges in the name of national security by declaring that the constitutionality of DADT has been decided when it has not. That can only be done by the Supreme Court and they have never ruled on in it. Just Thanksgiving week, a federal judge effectively said, "fuck you, Obama DOJ, this constitutional challenge to DADT is going to go forward whether you like it or not."

He and the DNC entirely ignored the battle for marriage equality in Maine. Their mailing to voters on key issues in the election didn't even mention it. Why?

He totally smile fucked the gullible during the campaign by letting them wet themselves by misinterpreting his comments about the states when he believes in a state's right to BAN marriage equality as much as allow it.

Obama's Office of Personnel Management has defied a federal judge's order that an employee of the court be allowed to purchase medical insurance for her female partner. Why? Would the sky fall if they'd ignored this? Would the Antigay Industry have mounted a credible attack against someone wanting medical insurance?

All of these are CHOICES and when one...regardless of what one SAYS he believes in/"supports".....chooses an action that keeps a people less than equal it is fair to question why.

Homophobia, like love, exists in degrees. Moons ago when speaking to a group of college students, I responded to a male student's insistence that he had no problem with gays this interogatory:

ME: Can I work where you work?
HIM: Yes.
ME: Can I live next to you?
HIM: Yes.
ME: Can I marry your brother?
HIM: No.
ME: You're a bigot.

Ronald Reagan wasn't actively trying to kill gays but millions are dead [cumulatively, and throughout the world] because homophobia influenced his choice to do virtually nothing for the first five years of his administration about AIDS, and too little after that.

Is Obama remotely as bad as Reagan...or even Bush? Of course not. BUT the fact remains that, despite all the hearts and flowers and Easter egg hunts, we are fundamentally as legally second class as we were when they were President.

[ Parent ]
Unlike Obama, Hillary Clinton never
ever publically cited her personal religious beliefs in terms of her opposition to marriage equality. She did make generalized statements about the intertwining of civic notions of marriage with religious notions of marriage-implying that there needs to be more education on the issue.

I much preferred Hillary's rhetoric on the SSM issue to Obama's.

And, of course, Hillary was not the Democratic Presidential nominee nor is she POTUS. Obama is.

[ Parent ]
I'm not sure I'm willing
to be quite this generous:

Ronald Reagan wasn't actively trying to kill gays

He knew that his actions would lead to widespread suffering and death, but that he would gain political points with his allies specifically for that suffering and those deaths.  He might not have been the one actually deriving sexual satisfaction from the suffering and death of gay men, but he was more than willing to play fluffer for the vicious hetero-supremacist mainstream of his party.

[ Parent ]
Remotely? YES!
Face facts. He's a Trojan Horse.

[ Parent ]
Good for you
"ME: Can I work where you work?
HIM: Yes.
ME: Can I live next to you?
HIM: Yes.
ME: Can I marry your brother?
HIM: No.
ME: You're a bigot."

I think you are right on. What constantly amazes me are gay people who simply refuse to go here.  It's like there is this large percentage of us who just can't think of people who think we are not equal to us as bigots. Probably because it would mean we'd have to use that word to describe Aunt Sally.

[ Parent ]
no boycott, no boo's somebody just 'silence' him

Uh I think Jessi meant
no clapping, no boos, just a stony silence in the auditorium. NOt necessarily the violence that buju advocates against us.

Perhaps Bash-Back could arrange an electrical blackout

Otherwise we might have to endure a Buju Banton award acceptance speech that includes a major homophobic statement.

OT: Had a question for you
but the thread got gone as was buried.

Here it is:

Is there such a legal principle as "separate is not equal" in England, France, and in other European countries where gays have domestic partnerships but not marriage?

[ Parent ]
Nope, no such European principle
since subjugation of some minorities is so very deeply ingrained in the psyche of Eurpoe, left over from the religious wars and officially sanctioned anti-semitism.

The French and Spanish Left embrace the principle, but not the Brits, nor the French Right, nor Ireland which learned the art of dispossessing minorities from the Brits.

I tell you Chica that no greater abomination exists than women denying their spirit of sisterhood and instead becoming the oppressor. -Rebeca, Universidad Complutense de Madrid

[ Parent ]
There has been a legal challenge in Britain
for marriage equality, though...never heard of this challenge.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_...

[ Parent ]
I had heard of it
but UK notions of inherent rights are basically rudimentary. The UK is only a century and a half from disenfranchising Catholics and hanging, drawing and quartering.

Conversely, it did outlaw slavery far earlier than the US...
