is there any movement on behalf of obama lay people supporters to email superdelegates?  is it even worth our time?  would they listen to our concerns, i dont know.

I am getting suspicious

Of the superdelegates left uncommitted. What are they waiting for? Promises of cushy jobs? Cabinet appointments? Diplomatic jobs in tropical locales?

Or are they just afraid to throw in with one party or the other and watch others get the goodies when their candidate wins? That's what it is beginning to look like from here. Nobody wants to be the one to tell Hillary that they're going with Obama, but if the rest of the pack pushes him over the top, then they can go without apology and without offense against the Dynasty.

It's bullsh*t.

Stand up for what you believe, folks, and let the chips fall where they may. Don't weasel around waiting for someone else to take the risk so then you can jump on the winning team at the end. I think if the superdelegates from Maine were doing this, and one of them was my elected official, I'd let them know in no uncertain terms what I thought of such wishy-washy-ness.

In New England, we have a tradition of the annual Town Meeting. Registered voters in a town get together to go over, line-by-line, the municipal budget, any big purchases (fire trucks, police cars, new town office, etc.) and any major policy changes. Voters sit together in a large room, usually a school gymnasium, and cast their votes on most of these issues in public. We get a chance to stand up and speak for or against a particular issue, and then we vote. In public. We see how our neighbors vote and they see how we vote. Stuff gets decided. And then we (often) have a potluck dinner.

Sometimes there are hard feelings over issues, but mostly not. We know that we're not all going to agree on everything, but we're all in it because it is the right thing to do, and we respect that, and we can sit down to eat together when it's done.

Why can't the superdelegates do the same thing. Say what you think, support whom you really believe in, and then, when it's all done, we'll sit down together, have a potluck meal and support the D who prevails.

What's so difficult about that?

as trying to influence the voting still to be done in the remaining primaries.  i think that that is very noble.

it is an interesting dichotomy going on.  on the one hand, people are saying "superdels better not vote to overturn the public will".  on the other hand, people are saying "don't sit on the fence, superdels!".  i ask you, is it possible to have it both ways?  if i were a superdel, i might be tempted to remain publicly uncommitted just out of spite for the untenable situation i'm forced into.

They represent the whole state not a specific district? If so then do it and go for Obama.  At least I am sure Obama's camp is smart enough to have a minute to minute list so that when jobs do come up next year the wishy-washies'll all be home.

there are no rules as to who superdels represent, other than themselves.

they are free to make up their minds based on whatever factors they personally choose: phase of the moon, popular vote in a geographic area, personal gain, anything.

Spite and pettiness are what the Dem hoi polloi deserve for expecting their leaders to lead. I mean, it's not as if our elected officials ever ran ads on TV promising to be able to make difficult choices.
