The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Pigs are flying - pundits on Obama's speech

by: Pam Spaulding

Fri Aug 29, 2008 at 04:42:30 AM EDT

The bacon gained speed trotting down the runway and improbably soared, aloft in the clouds -- the reaction to Barack Obama's acceptance speech earned glowing reviews all across the political spectrum:

MSNBC Pat Buchanan - "It was a genuinely outstanding speech. It was magnificent. It is the finest - and I saw Cuomo's speech, I saw Kennedy in '80, I even saw Douglas MacArthur, I saw Martin Luther King - this is the greatest convention speech, and probably the most important because unlike Cuomo and the others this is an acceptance speech. This came out of the heart of America and he went right at the heart of America..."

FOX Bill Kristol - "Barack Obama faced very high expectations tonight and honestly I think he met them and I honestly think he exceeded them...He eloquently explained America's promise. He explained why the Bush Cheney administration had fallen short of that...I thought it was an awfully impressive performance."

CNN David Gergen - "In many ways it was less a speech than a symphony...It was a masterpiece"

MSNBC Tom Brokaw - "It was a wonderfully crafted political speech and the Republicans I'm sure were looking in and wondering what they're going to be able to do next week to match it"

CNN Paul Begala - "He went fearlessly at John McCain's greatest strength, national security. He went proudly into the social issue terrain that Democrats are usually so afraid of. He went boldly attacking the status quo of George Bush, Dick Cheney and John McCain, and then he went very comfortably in your living room...This is my ninth convention, it was as very nearly a perfect convention speech as I can imagine..."

MSNBC Chris Matthews - "I thought it was amazing - I've written speeches all my life, of course nothing like this...It was a great way of throwing back the other side's best shot and saying it's full of crap"

Awesome!
Nothing else to say besides Awesome!

I'm fired up for the push back rally at the Nutter Center this morning.  Maybe McCain's motorcade will go past our spot and I can wave my "Vets for Obama" sign as he goes past.  :-)

I Agree
I was a Hillary supporter, but I have to agree 100%!  Just WOW!

[ Parent ]
I did like
that the VERY first person he praised, after accepting the nom, was fully named "Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton". Well done, and the right move to acknowledge her and her achievements so.

"It goes on one at a time, it starts when you care to act, it starts when you do it again after they said no, it starts when you say We and know who you mean, and each day you mean one more."

from t.s. eliot
'all manner of thing will be well'...4 Quartets-'Little Giddings' a great poem with strength ...thanks Pam for the coverage, I am overwhelmed with this weeks voices.  Having been a person of the 60's and a worker for civil rights, from a Kennedy democrat family in the deeep south, caucasian, and an activist SDS-type university student, it truly was to dream dreams and see visions...my oh my...let's do it!!!

Where are the naysayers now?
All the nonsense about the supposed "Greek Temple" and hubris about the stadium has melted away when even someone like Alex Castellanos (see TPM) seemed gobsmacked by the speech.

The move to the stadium was brilliant political theater/brilliant TV.  We got the majesty and weight of the crowd, we got the intimacy of crowd shots and wasn't it wonderful to see so many younger voters, such a diverse audience?

Imagine tuning in if you didn't know much about Obama: you would likely be impressed and maybe even swept away by the whole scene.

How on earth can Cranky and Pawlenty or Cranky and Romney match last night?

As the sound system played, and many people sung along: "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now."

"In order to maintain an untenable position, you have to be actively ignorant."  The Colbert Report

Sara Palin McCain's Veep?
NBC is reporting that Pawlenty and Romney are out, and that the choice might be Sara Palin, Gov. of Alaska!  Could Cranky make that original a choice?  It would really shake up the field to have a woman on the GOP ticket.

I love the look on Rachel's face @~0:21. It's like
"Who are you and what have you done with Pat Buchanan?"

Remember what FDR said, "I agree with you, I want to do it, now make me do it." Have you written/called a congress-critter today? 8.25, 6.21

Housekeys for McCain
Lets keep the House Fiasco alive for John McCain.
I can't imagine he has an easy time keeping up with the keys for all those houses so I am sending him some extra.  Why don't you help me?

hell is freezing
Just chiming in that I'm stunned that the pundit class is raving about his performance. It speaks to Obama as a powerful motivator and orator. Amazing. I wouldn't have been able to predict that he could force a glowing review from Buchanan! Really.  Buchanan!

Of course, CNN's Leslie Sanchez had to be nasty...

Don't they throw out the lowest and highest scores at the Olympics.

Electricity's for light bulbs!

Really Thrilling Speech
I watched it at Nellie's Sports Bar in DC, with a huge crowd of LGBT Obama supporters and the line about gays and lesbians got a huge cheer - so loud that this morning I had to re-read parts of the speech that came after it, because I couldn't hear a thing. I did not, however, see any of the post-speech coverage, and I am really stunned. It is remarkable in our divided political environment to see pundits on the right being so effusive with their praise. I mean Pat "it's better in the original German" Buchanan not only praising the speech, but without a snarky comment at all? Incredible!

I think the Democrats really pulled off a stunner of a convention. From the opening with Michelle through the Clintons' speeches, and even with Biden's less than amazing performance (I guess someone had to be average), all the way through to last night it all really seemed to come together. Obama put together a devastating critique of the failed Bush-Cheney policies McSame wants to continue, but did it without sounding overly partisan. Buchanan is right (egads! did I just write that? World is spinning...hell is freezing over) that Obama grounded his entire argument in the classic vision of American promise - something that Democrats all too often fail to do.

I also love that he acknowledged there were issues on which we will remain divided - rather than try to force a social orthodoxy on us all as the GOP tries to do, Obama accepts that those divisions are not easily healed or fixed, but that there is an enormous amount we can still do together.

I think the most important message of the convention, though, was removing the idea of a "cult" of Obama. This was not a festival of some ethereal poet, but a nomination of a grounded pragmatist. The Clintons' speeches were probably the most important part of that. They did not try to pretend they had suddenly changed their minds and decided Obama was the best candidate ever - they want him to win because we cannot afford to allow the GOP to continue. That is an important argument for all those who don't want to jump onto the Obama train but are still dissatisfied with where the country is headed.

David Brooks
I'm glad all these people are making up for David Brooks on PBS. When he criticized the speech after it was over my respect for his opposing view fell exponentially. How could anyone criticize this speech??

Great speech - it feels possible
It felt possible in 2000 and 2004 too.  This time it not only feels possible, but also deserved and necessary and inevitable if not overdue.

I am also aware of the disappointment that followed four years and eight years ago, so I'm working overtime to maintain balance.  Anything can happen and it usually does.

To keep myself distracted from the outside forces that I can't control between now and election day, I am going to plan my first gay hospital party.  It's not that I want my CA husband to be hospitalized, but lets say that he does end up sick or injured...not quite dead, but maybe in a coma some time in 2009 or 2010...I can't wait to be able to visit him just like every other American can visit their sick and/or dying spouse.

Now, what will I wear?  Should I order a cake now, or just wait until Rob has a heart attack or is hit by a car?  I can't wait to visit him in the hospital and feel like a real American citizen.

I Saw History
I can't get that thought out of my head.  I sat in awe, crying my eyes out, and watch the greatest historical event of my 41 years.  Not tears of sadness but tears of overwhelming Joy, Hope & Happiness.  I believe strongly that for the first time I will witness the Best Man Elected to Office and not the lesser of two evils.

After the plague of Bush & Cheney we, Americans, need this.  Michelle Obama, Our next First Lady, was absolutely right, I have never been so proud of my Country as I am now.

Besser ein ende mit Schrecken als ein Schrecken ohne ende

Ummmmmmm
I was on the road. Does someone have a link to the speech?

No matter how thin you slice it, it's still boloney.
