Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Q Of The Day: Has Anne Slowey Been Right About the Fate of Dresses?

by: Autumn Sandeen

Mon Oct 20, 2008 at 03:30:00 AM EDT

I was reading a comment about politics and women's pants from Julie Gilhart, fashion director of Barneys New York:

Certainly [dresses are] much more efficient. "Instead of spending days thinking about your wardrobe," she said, "you can concentrate on who you're voting for for president."

Fall 2008 Dress trends in two minutes.

This reminds of a statement from late last April by Anne Slowey, the fashion news director of Elle magazine:

The expiration date for the dress, she claimed, "is end of August."

Okay, now for a lighthearted, silly season Q of the Day: Do you think Anne Slowey has been right about the expiration date for dresses?

And, the follow up question for blenders -- whether you consider yourself a fashionista or not -- is this: In the voting booth this fall fashion season, would it be easier for you to concentrate on whom you're voting for as the next President of the United States if you were wearing a dress?

And remember: There is no such thing as a stupid question, just stupid people who ask questions.

in rural LA a guy wearing a dress to the voting precinct building
would be lynched.
Personally I probably should have voted absentee, any, (and I mean ANY) contact with most of the folks out here, is by and large UNPLEASANT. We tend to ourselves, which works out fine with me.
The radical queer in me may wear my ACT UP read my lips t-shirt which features two sailors kissing, under a jacket.
Only I'll know it's there, but it feeds my soul.

What have you done today, to make ya feel PROUD?

In the voting booth come NOV 4...it will be so very soothing then.

They are more comfortable, that's for sure
I usually end up wearing jeans when we have mild weather, but bundling up is more comfortable in a dress. (Of course here its all vote by mail, so I voted in my bathrobe.)

Screw dresses
I'll vote for the first candidate who promises to outlaw neckties!

If only neckties had an expiration date. I hate the damn things and so does almost every man on the planet. There's nothing practical about them. They are just a silk rag that men are forced to tie around our necks.

I think the reason why Star Trek was so popular was because it showed a future without neckties.

When you look for the bad in mankind, expecting to find it, you surely will.

- Abraham Lincoln.

Necks?
Really? Wow... we're "wearing" them wrong. ;) I like them, myself.

"It goes on one at a time, it starts when you care to act, it starts when you do it again after they said no, it starts when you say We and know who you mean, and each day you mean one more."

[ Parent ]
Do you know why neckties exist?
They're a holdover from Victorian prudery/sexism.  The proposition was that women, being such frail creatures, could be driven to a state of sexual hysteria if they even catch a glimpse of the fastenings on men's clothes.  This was explained to us, with a perfectly straight face, by one of my religion teachers at the Catholic boys high school I attended.  Needless to say, he endorsed neckties; they weren't a useless relic of the repressive past but a vital tool in our war against sin.  There was no doubt in his mind that women really are that dippy.

And now, a hundred and fifty years later, we're still saddled with the damned stupid things.

As you might guess from the above, we were required to wear ties in school.  I've been rebelling against it ever since.

I've never been able to track down any verification of Brother Denis' story, but it sounds screwy enough to be true (the history, I mean, not the sexism).  If anyone has any definite info about this, I'd love to hear it.  If nothing else, it would be nice to think that at least one thing the Marianists taught me wasn't pure fantasy.

I wonder how...
...Brother Denis would explain the codpiece.

He wouldn't try to explain them.
He'd be too busy licking them.

Dresses
As a true-blue bona-fied dyke I can say that I haven't owned a  dress in at least 15 years (well, at least since my mother's funeral in 1990.)  I wore a pantsuit to my dad's funeral (2003) and a SUIT suit (plus aviator shades) to my last surviving uncle's service in January. I have maybe owned 3 dresses since reaching 21 in 1982 (and I've only been out since 2003.)

Autumn, may I say right now that you are one of my heroes :-D

As a true-blue bonafide femme dyke
I kind of prefer dresses because yeah, coordinating tops and bottoms can be a headache at times. I'm just lazy and like an outfit that's all pre-coordinated so I don't have to bother with that. Dresses are for lazy dames like me. So Autumn, you may be onto something there, LOL

Here's what I find about compromise--
don't do it if it hurts inside,
'cause either way you're screwed,
eventually you'll find
you may as well feel good;
you may as well have some pride

If I wore a dress to the polls...
... without shaving my beard, well, it would certainly frighten the Republican propaganda pushers in front of the polling place and keep them away from me!

Come to think of it, that's not a bad idea...

I wear dresses and it is totally not a big deal
This is silly. In Washington DC lots of women wear dresses, and lots don't, and it is just not a big deal one way or the other. As for voting, on Election Day I plan to wear a blue dress to the polls, natch. The following morning, it's the Pugs who are going to be blue. ;)

LOL
To the first one, no -- but then, I'd wear a dress just to show that not only are they not expired, but that they are eternal.

And absolutely easier.

If I didn't wear a dress, I'd havea much harder time.

NOT

eyeroll

(and yes, I will be wearing a dress when I vote)

I'll be in jammies
because same as last time, I'm gonna be FIRST in line and second, when I get home I am gonna cuddle under a blanket and watch the news.

Maybe I'll be festive and wear my Bugs Bunny slippers. Everyone here knows I'm a nut...

"It goes on one at a time, it starts when you care to act, it starts when you do it again after they said no, it starts when you say We and know who you mean, and each day you mean one more."

Already in jammies...
...but they are 'silk long underwear type' that I can wear on the boat and in camper as 'real clothes' just covering up to go out.  'Cuz I voted absentee.

e.g. Thats by mail.
I love going to the polls, still makes me feel special..but we have voted by mail for a while. Oregon, the whole state does it..and their voter participation is HIGH!

Me too!
I filled out my mail in ballot wearing silk thermals and a bathrobe! Gotta love those silk thermals; a friend turned me on to them a couple of years ago.

On a more serious note, mail in voting seems to have a great participation rate here, too (half the people I have called while phone banking in the past couple of days have already voted), but a lot of people are worried about their ballots actually being counted.

We have poll watchers at the auditors office and so do the Republicans, because in the last couple of elections the idiot temps hired to help count ballots flagged a disproportionate number for signatures that did not "match".

I don;t think they will make the same mistake this year--both parties are watching them like a hawk.

[ Parent ]
If I'm not mistaken
Maine has ALREADY gotten over 28,000 absentees! Polls will be empty at this rate.

Starting to think I could show up stark nekked and only shock the old man at the door...or worse, thrill the coot.

"It goes on one at a time, it starts when you care to act, it starts when you do it again after they said no, it starts when you say We and know who you mean, and each day you mean one more."

Small Midwestern Town - Large Man - Dress....
I think it would certainly cause some discussion about my participation in the voting process, but I doubt wearing a dress would make my voting easier.

Hee-hee!

This is exactly why I didn't just ask female blenders whether or not wearing a dress to the polls would help concentration when casting your votes -- it's always fun to hear from all types of blenders on hard-hitting, fashion related issues that are as life-and-death as this issue no doubt is. ;)

Does she mean to say
That it's easier to go though all the effort of shaving your legs than to grab a shirt and pants? She must be nuts, or one of those women who haven't yet figured out that you only need to shave 'em if you're wearing a skirt or shorts.

Oh, and also, if she has such a problem with coordinating cloths she should know that coordinating shoes with dresses is way more difficult.

<3 Sam

I can't speak for anyone else
But no way in hell would I shave my legs--I hate it.

Opaque tights or leggings with boots.

(leave it to me to find the lazy way to do anything)

[ Parent ]
I'd had to shave
since practically pre-school... otherwise, ya could French-braid the stuff! ;)

NO, NO, NO...MON AM reminded me.
It's not the dresses....it's the CONTROL TOP pantyhose!!! That have to go!!

Ann Slowey
Ann Slowey is an idiot harpy.  What a mess.

Yes, my ass looks way better in a dress than jeans

My ass
looks best in the dark at midnight, sideways and viewed after a few good bottles of wine. ;)

Then she be a thing of rare and exquisite beauty indeed!
