but apart from the fact that this is an unconscionably cruel and crass act, maybe it's a protest against the current bear market and somehow tying it to Obama?

In any case, that the bear had to die for someone to score a cheap political point is an obscenity.

Screw the bear

This incident is indicative of the depths McCain's supporters will go to in demonstrating their irrational hatred. I don't care what color the bear is, and your attempts to deflect from the issue with a game of semantics (below) is completely ineffective. These people are using KKK tactics without the white sheets. Killing bears, trashing cars, assaulting reporters, hanging effigies. Shall we give you a history lesson on this type of venom so that the message is clear? The conservative movement didn't produce people willing to go this far during other elections. You'd think they would have been horrified by Kerry's Jewish VP pick in 2004, but no cars were totaled over it. That's because colors other than white are far more offensive, despite Obama's caucasian roots. McCain has the nerve to say we don't know what kind of perverse acts are committed by liberals. But we don't want to give McCain ammo that he can use to demonize our diverse group, so we play it cool. Obviously we'd be rounded up and tasered if we resorted to their tactics, and they'd be vindicated about them no good coloreds.

The Obama Effigy

We should not be so timid to ignore what this is.

An effigy and a warning.

The cub was not shot in the stomach.
The cub was not shot in the leg.

The cub was shot dead in the head.

This is clearly an effigy of an Obama assasination - campaign posters attached to the head of the dead.

This seems like a clear warning from those who hate.

and since it is designed to inspire fear and terror, it is indeed an act of domestic terrorism committed by a McCain/Palin supporter, as were slashed tires, smashed car, etc.

This is indicative of how The Far Right treats a perceived threat: Violence & not-so-subtle "messages."  It is the most base reaction to an unnamed "something" that could be taken away.  This is only the tip of the iceberg.  It will get even worse on November 5th, WHEN Obama wins.

"Enobled" and empowered by Palin and to some degree McCain, they have thrown caution to the wind and announced their presence on the scene by terrorising the nation.

Ayers is a lightweight compared to these people, and he is a patriot compared to them as well.

At least, I an hoping, the fact that the bear was shot in the head means it died painlessly. Unfortunately the same can't be said of the pain, hatred and fear perpetrated by the monster who did this.

today at lunch.. not only is killing a bear illegal here in this state ( I think) but this crap just overflows the toilet of hatred.

Consider the shooter

I would think the police would be figuring that any sick bastard who would shoot a bear in the head to make a political point would not be that far from taking out his/her violent frustrations next on a live human being. I'm sure they're very worried about this person running around out there as I would be. These things can escalate.

We live in a very sick and dangerous world and lately it seems to be accelerating.

Racial Hatred

Racial Hatred is the motivation here not the hatred of liberals. If Biden or anyone else was running these things would not be happening there. Many people out here in Cali are not supporting either candidate this time around. I hope we don't end up with president Biden(I remember how he treated Anita Hill) but I fear for Obama at this point.

or this would have been full of swear words and such.  But who ever did this needs to be put out in the woods tied to a tree and covered in honey.  I don't mind people hunting as long as they eat what they shoot.  I am against animal cruelity as well as people cruelity.  

 I would love to see the bastard that did this found and prosecuted. I would love to see the idiots making death threats need to be locked up to.  And what really pisses me off is the Republicans are encourageing this kind of violence and hatred.

 Tie them all to tree and let the bears decide.

Double standardry for the lose.

The Secret Service is supposed to take seriously all threats to a sitting Pres/Vice Pres AS WELL as candidates that they are assigned to protect.

But I'm becoming more and more convinced that the SS will never ever go after the McCain/Palin supporters that are ON CAMERA yelling "KILL HIM!" whenever Obama gets mentioned--but woe betide the person that goes off the deep end and starts screaming "KILL HIM!" whenever McCain gets mentioned at an Obama rally.

Especially if he freelances for a game publisher in Austin, TX.
