The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Quote of the day: Donny Osmond on same-sex marriage (and his gay friends)

by: Pam Spaulding

Wed Dec 03, 2008 at 12:00:00 PM EST

Submitted without comment other than to say that the long-ago washed-up Mormon teen idol said in the same breath "some of my best friends are gay" and that those with "gay tendencies" are welcome in the Mormon church.
"We warn that individuals who violate covenants of chastity, who abuse spouse or offspring, or who fail to fulfill family responsibilities will one day stand accountable before God. Further, we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets. We call upon responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society."
Aw, sh*t, I couldn't resist a comment -- WTF is he talking about? My marriage is going to be the cause of world calamities predicted in the bible? That's right out of the Pat Robertson book of batsh*ttery. Good lord, he needs to shut the F up and explain why he and his fellow Mormons believe in denying the civil rights, not religious rights of any group of citizens by mob rule.

H/t, Joe.My.God.

IDIOT!
"We warn that individuals who violate covenants of chastity, who abuse spouse or offspring, or who fail to fulfill family responsibilities will one day stand accountable before God".

Before God?  Or before "them"?

Don't they realize our government has courts to take care of people who are hurtful to others?

lol!
what a loon.  we need more like him - they just make it more obvious to the otherwise oblivious public how backwards the lds is.  how's the weather on kolob, donny?

curious about comething
Donny went on to write
I am not a judge and I will never judge anyone for the decisions they make unless they are causing harm to another individual. I love my friends, including my gay friends. We are all God's children. It is their choice, not mine on how they conduct their lives and choose to live the commandments according to the dictates of their own conscience.
This looks like a religious version of libertarianism.  I wonder if he was sincere enough about not judging or deciding for others to not contribute to any anti-marriage equality campaign.  I would give him a lot of credit if he kept his money in his pants and his vote neutral.  Anyone know?

Actually...
I am not a judge and I will never judge anyone for the decisions they make unless they are causing harm to another individual.
I didn't think there were any exceptions to 'judge not lest ye be judged.'

to be fair
would you stand by and watch while someone was beating up someone else?  of course not.  so apparently neither would he.  why take him to task for a good thing?  on the other hand, he is apparently willing to stand by and watch lgbt people being hurt by the voting mob, so i'm not sure he's really thought through his grand stance to its logical conclusion.  at least, if he had anything to say against the amendments and the lds part in it all, i never heard about it.  but i still think his quote has an interesting libertarian element to it that i wonder might offer a middle way out for some mormons who want to stay mormon but don't want to participate in the official anti-lgbt pogrom.

I'm not chastising his stance on that
But anyone who starts relying on any religion for a point of argument needs to deal with its inconsistencies, etc.

>^..^<

[ Parent ]
Good analogy, actually.
I wonder if he was sincere enough about not judging or deciding for others to not contribute to any anti-marriage equality campaign.

Nah, probably not so sincere -- because it's the religious version of Libertarianism.  Just like the laws at the top of the list for the chopping block in the Libertarian platform are non-discrimination and labor-rights laws, the "I don't judge as long as they don't hurt anybody" never seems to take "I don't judge" as meaning anything beyond "I'm not screaming for their blood at this moment."

The Osmond rainbow
Did the earth implode when sister Marie got divorced? Does Donny think she should be banned from marrying again because of the 'disintegration of (her) family'? I wonder how many other divorces and break ups are in the Osmond household? And if 10% of the population is gay, with all those Osmond siblings, nieces, nephews, etc., there's gotta be some rainbow Osmonds deep in the closet.

Donny better watch his mouth or Marie will bitch-slap him
let's see: Unca Donny allegedly has one niece who, on her MySpace page posted that she is bi-sexual and wants to have sex "as many times as possible, while her sister  Rachael identifies herself on MySpace as a "slut" and "whore" who has fantasies about David Bowie. Oh, and the girls have a brother who's had drug problems and has been in rehab.

a new amendment
Denying religious status to the so called church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

Whereas:
The beliefs of the mormons come from a source outside of the Bible

and: it can be proven that by and large it was merely the premise of a sex cult

and: It is not a recognised christian faith and the only real churches are Christian in this Christian Nation:

The Mormon Church is declared not to be a valid religion and will be exempt from first amendment protections

Put it on the ballot,
Can I call the LDS and tell them my vote can be bought on this?  You know, like I need a REA$$$ON to vote against it as it doesn't effect me because I am not a Mormon.

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

[ Parent ]
I want it on the ballot
for years conservative Christians lobbied to deny Pagan groups status as religious groups.

Our turn now.
Besides, the LDS really just a D/s sex club for men and a corporate shill dressed up as a religion. That there are devout Momrons of good conscience I've no doubt, but til the leadership behaves like a religion, they ought not be treated as one.

Think of the media campaign, complete with videos of fundamentalist mormons being led out of their polygamist playgrounds after police raids...

Osmonds Sucks
If you thought Captain & Tennille's music was corny, try listening to The Osmonds.  Their music should appropriately be filed under "baby music".

C & T
C&T's shtick wasn't quite as bad as some of the one/two-hit wonders of the 1970s (sugary? yes. bad? 'eye of the beholder' I guess).  Conceivably, they might have been able to make their TV show into something on par with Sonny & Cher - but, though as I understand it the Captian is actually a very good musician (I read somewhere that his father was also), I get the impression he wasn't the empresario that Sonny Bono was.  I could tolerate a rerun or two of their show, but I'd probably go jump in the big Muddy before re-living a single ep of either Shields & Yarnell or The Keane Brothers.

RE: C & T
Hi Kat,

I actually like Captain & Tennille's music, but most people roll their eyes when I mention their name LOL (maybe "Muskrat Love" killed it for them).

If I'm not mistaken, Captain actually was a musician for the Beach Boys, and Tennille later covered some backing vocals, and that's how the couple met.

Unfortunately their variety show was a couple years before my time, but I've seen DVD boxed sets of the show at the local record store.  It was kinda expensive though (at the time), so I'll keep an eye on it for when the price is reduced! LOL

My Music Collection
I do not own a single Osmond record or recording, never did, never will.
Toni Tennille has one great voice.  I was able to find a copy of her album More Than You Know, 1984, Mirage 90162-1.  She sings classics from the 30's and 40's.  And, she does them well.

Pam,
This movie has been rated PG-13 for sci-fi violence and destruction

My first pop concert
The first pop concert I ever went to was Captain & Tennille.  For my 16th birthday.  Loved it. :)

Purple socks ...
Purple socks ....
no I won't go there

Donny sez...
...we can accept those with gay tendencies in our church as long as they do not act upon their temptations. Everyone has tenancies to succumb to temptation, but we all have the same standard given to us by our Father in Heaven. Whether we may be tempted to be immoral with members of our own sex or of the opposite sex, we are expected to live chaste lives.

This is a common view among some christians who like to think of themselves as more "loving" and "accepting" than the extreme fundies who don't even want any suspected LGBT person sitting in their pews; I used to believe it when I was an evangelical several years back.  I wonder how many Christians consider that, if Jesus was really tempted like all humans supposedly are (Hebrews 4:15), then he experienced what Donny called gay tendencies along with all other so-called temptations of assumed sexual sins.  Somehow, I don't think the average Bible-thumper dwells on Jesus lusting after John (and Mark, and Luke, and Peter, and...) any more than considering he was tempted to boink Martha or Mary (or maybe both of them at the same time).  Jesus is a nonsexual figure in many Christian's minds.

As for Donny-the-has-been, he's nuts.  Does he think he's still popular enough to influence people on this?  Don't tell me he still has fans swooning at his feet.  I can't believe that as a young teen I used to buy all of his records, and any teen mag which had Donny and his brothers plastered on the cover.  Yuk.

Ushi Interviews Donny Osmond
Has anyone seen Ushi's interview with Donny Osmond?  She's interviewed several (mostly established) performers and groups, and she was REALLY getting under Donny's skin:

Pt. 1

Pt. 2

I remember
That ridiculous kerfuffle with Rosie O'Donnell...my, my, my...
do we really care what Donny thinks? And why would HE think we did?

well actually,
he was answering a question posed to him on his blog.  im'  not defending him, but it's not like he sent out a press release or anything.

Nooooo! Donny! Say it ain't so!
You too? First Chuck, then Prince, and now you?! Are there no decent has-beens left in this world! Will I never be able to attend a "Come-back-cause-I'm-trying-to-maintain-so-modicum-of-fame" tour again?

Okay, I'm done.

watashi no yomeiri wa doko desu ka

How on earth do the Mormons define
individuals who violate covenants of chastity
???

What exactly is the standard for chastity when you have twenty wives?  If you sleep with one of them, are you being unfaithful to the rest?  Is it possible to cheat on only one of them, or is it a package deal?  And if wives #15 and 16 get it on while their husband is romping with #11, are they cheating?  After all, they're not having sex with anyone outside their marriage.

Not that I expect any Mormon answer to make sense.  It is a given with me that all religions are dumbshit crazy.  Mormonism, magical mystery underwear and all, is only one of the loopiest.

Cynic, n.  A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be.
