Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Esquire covers Huckabee's shameless anti-gay bile on his book tour

by: Pam Spaulding

Thu Jan 29, 2009 at 09:00:00 AM EST

Failed GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee is still on the media circuit, this time he is covered by A.J. Jacobs in a feature piece for Esquire, as the writer says, "flogging his new book ("Do the Right Thing") on a 56-city tour."  Jacobs describes the very qualities that make Huckabee dangerous - he's a likeable bigot.
He's a four-star general in the battle against gay marriage. He's fervently pro-life and is dubious about Darwinism. He disciplined his kids with corporal punishment and he loves his guns. And yet, when you're with him, he's so damn folksy and kind and self-deprecating that the liberal media (i.e., me) just want to hug him.
And thus this is why we see lazy media types (with the notable exception of Jon Stewart) often cut the affable former minister and covenant marriage advocate way too much slack instead of holding him accountable for his views.

But thankfully, Huck hurtles over the edge with Jacobs, yet again raising the comparison of same-sex marriage to alcoholism and leading down the slippery slope to marrying sheep:

He tells me that when he spoke recently in Japan, there was an American student there who objected to his views on gay marriage. "This was right in the middle of what was going on in west Texas, and I thought, Okay, how can we say that what those polygamists in west Texas are doing is wrong if we allow same-sex marriage? Who are you to tell them that that man can't have fifteen wives? [The student said] 'Well, it's not the same!' And I said, 'Okay, well, here's another one: bestiality. Now I know you're going to have a problem,' and he just went berserk on that. But there was recently an actual news story where a man wanted to marry his animal....I think it was a sheep."

Huckabee says he doesn't know if homosexuality is inborn, but he believes you can control the behavior. He compares homosexuality to obesity or alcoholism: "Some people have a predisposition to alcoholism. Does that mean they're not responsible for getting drunk? No."

On the bestiality matter, Huckabee is an intelligent man - how can he continue saying this crap when he knows full well an animal cannot give consent or sign a legal document? This only makes him look like a jackass (not that I mind); you'd think he and his ilk would drop this argument from their arsenals of anti-gay propaganda.

More below the fold.

Pam Spaulding :: Esquire covers Huckabee's shameless anti-gay bile on his book tour
And Huck continues churning out the homophobia, reinforcing the belief that civil rights is a zero-sum game.
I give him the liberal line: Being gay is so integral to a person's identity that it's not a choice, that it's like being African-American.

"I'm especially offended by that," he answers immediately. "Because blackness is an inescapable quality. Black is not a behavior. There's no behavior to black. What you can say is that whatever disposition, it's a choice. A lot of people are celibate. When people enter the priesthood, they make a choice to subjugate certain behaviors and/or feelings. It's not that they don't have them; it's that they choose not to act on them."

Well, we know that doesn't always work out so well, Huck. Ask Papa Ratzi and his pedophiles, rapists and enablers of the cloth.

You should read the rest of this article. There is a hilarious section where Jacobs accompanies Huck to a fundie dinner of 600 true believers, with a theme of "no compromise on gay marriage". The poor writer subjects himself to the kind of sh*t we discuss here on the Blend all the time. It sounds like he was traumatized by this winner:

A man in a black suit and orange tie gets up. I all but rub my eyes to make sure it's not a mirage. The man has my gaydar going nuts, beeping at Nathan Lane levels.

The woman next to me in the flower-print dress leans over and says, "He's ex-gay." He used to work for gay rights in Washington before seeing the light.

The ex-gay speaker says the same-sex marriage advocates "just don't get it. We won in California. Nanny-nanny pooh-pooh!"

BONUS: Here's a classic Huck campaign flashback for you; I guess we'll see more of this in 2012 -- the good pastor tells a rally to shove a pole up the posterior of anyone who has a problem with the Confederate battle flag:

"You don't like people from outside the state coming in and telling you what to do with your [Confederate] flag. If somebody came to Arkansas and told us what to do with our flag, we'd tell them what to do with the pole. That's what we'd do."
-- Baptist minister and GOP clown car occupant Mike Huckabee, showing his pious side as he rallied and pandered to The Base at a Myrtle Beach crowd this month.

Who gives a shit about Mike Huckabee?
Just another liar for Christ.

I wish I could find the article on the guy who tried to marry a sheep
I think he was trying to make a point about SSM, which means these guys are self-referencing again.

Ironically...
If the followers of Christ are his flock, then shouldn't marrying a sheep be okay?

Hate stops a beating heart.

How long has he been on this book tour?
I remember him on it at the beginning of January. And why the book tour, people intersted in him can watch him on Fox Noise.  I hope in 2012 he and Bible Spice team up.  That would be a hoot.

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

He's yet another one....
that sets off some low-level pings on my gaydar.

The ugliest thing about Chuckles, is he wanted to send People with AIDS to CAMPS

Obama and Huckabee
"He's fervently pro-life and is dubious about Darwinism. He disciplined his kids with corporal punishment and he loves his guns. And yet, when you're with him, he's so damn folksy and kind and self-deprecating that the liberal media (i.e., me) just want to hug him."

And, this is my problem with Obama. He's charming and inspiring, but what does he really stand for? As with Huckabee, many people seem to be blinded by Obama's smile.

If Oobama really agrees with Rick Warren, Donny McClurkin, and Rev. James Meeks, God help us.

If Obama is focused and unity at the expense of effectiveness and core principles, God double help us.

The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in time of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality. -- John F. Kennedy (inspired by Dante's Inferno)

History Will Prove You Wrong
That's all I am going to say.

[ Parent ]
I don't know Stay Woke
this is not the man I voted for in 2004.

[ Parent ]
Obama had no choice but to acknowledge the
existence of the Meeks/ black "evangelical" homophobic factions back in the day after losing to Bobby Rush. But I never thought that he would placate this crowd to the extent that he did, being that the denomination he belonged to is much more inclusive. Note that he did not choose to go to another United Church of Christ now that he is in DC, he is going to a Baptist Church.

[ Parent ]
It's Complicated...
Barack Obama's membership in the UCC

A controversy arose over Obama speaking at UCC gatherings, but the IRS found that the UCC had adhered to the prohibition against churches campaigning for political candidates.

In 2007, longtime UCC member Barack Obama spoke at the UCC's Iowa Conference meeting and at the General Synod 26. A complaint filed with the Internal Revenue Service alleged that the UCC promoted Obama's candidacy by having him speak at those meetings.

Barry Lynn, an ordained UCC minister and the executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, stated that although he personally would not have invited a Presidential candidate to speak at the meetings, he believed "the Internal Revenue Service permits this to happen." The church had consulted with lawyers prior to the event to make sure they were following the law and had instructed those in attendance that no Obama campaign material would be allowed in the meeting. Nevertheless, in February 2008, the IRS sent a letter to the church stating that it was launching an inquiry into the matter.

On February 27, 2008, in an open letter to UCC members, Rev. John Thomas announced the creation of The UCC Legal Fund, to aid in the denomination's defense against the IRS. While the denomination expects legal expenses to surpass six figures, it halted donations after raising $59,564 in less than a week.

In May 2008, the IRS issued a letter which states that the UCC had taken appropriate steps and that the denomination's tax status was not in jeopardy.

His distancing himself from the UCC may be to help them stay off the IRS radar. By spreading himself around to different dominations it takes the pressure off one.

[ Parent ]
Understood and I was
aware that Barry Lynn was a minister but not aware that he was with UCC...that's good to know.

nevertheless, by courting the homophobic bigots that he courted during the 2008 campaign, he has distanced himself from the progressive social policies of the UCC too. For example, Obama spoke out VERY specifically about the need for job protections for transgenders in his 2004 interview with the Windy City Times. He would not speak out like that today, IMO.

Maybe he is, as you say, doing an okey-doke. Personally, I don't like him even flirting with that crowd. That's not who I voted for in 2004.

[ Parent ]
The Essence of a Man in Times of Crisis
As you know, politics is a VERY NASTY game. We are now at the "By Any Means Necessary" stage. Hopefully, by the end of Obama's Administration the man you voted for in 2004 will have proved himself to be an even greater man. The very essence of a man will either sustain him or betray him.

"These are the times that try men's souls."

"The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot may, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it now deserves the love and thanks of man and woman."

"By Any Means Necessary"
So, "By Any Means Necessary" makes it OK to throw gays and equal rights for all people under the bus.

I hope that's not what you meant.

By Any Means Necessary...
means By Any Means Necessary, baby!  I meant what I said, and I said what I meant, and I meant what I said 100%. (Kudos to Dr. Seuss.)

Take it as you wish...I'm on the right of history. PLEASE NOTE: I NEVER said anything about it being OK to throw any one or any thing "under the bus". YOU SAID THAT, not me!

[ Parent ]
Sorry, but you lost me, baby
I know you think you are right and I am wrong, so, you're flipping me off with that Dr. Suess crap.

I must be extremely stupid because I have no clue what the H you are talking about.

All Will be Revealed in Time
You are a very intelligent human being who cares about other human beings.  I thank you for caring and sharing.  In time, you will KNOW what I am talking about. For strategic purposes, I can't reveal too, much too soon. I'm just planting seeds and dropping hints.

I never said YOU were wrong, just that you will be on the wrong side of history in some of your predictions and summations. That's ok. Keep on, keeping on, OldBrit.  Speak your truth! It's all good and it's all love.

BTW, please read more Dr. Seuss...you'll be surprised how much wisdom he speaks.

I'm giving you a compliment.
YOU really are an intelligent person who cares about other human beings. I REALLY am thankful to you and for you.  I appreciate your comments...they make me think.

STAY WOKE!!
You wrote, "History Will Prove You Wrong - That's all I am going to say."

Stay Woke:

I sincerely hope you are correct and Obama becomes a truly great president.  I pray daily that I am wrong.

I hope you can understand why I have such strong reservations about Mr. Obama.

Having said that, I am hard on President Obama because I have high expectations for him and I believe that we must let him know when he screws up. If the right-wingers constantly agitate for what they want and we simply trust Mr. Obama to do the right thing, our silence makes it more difficult for him to stand on core principles and easier for him to cave in to the right-wingers.

Holding Mr. Obama accountable only helps him to keep his courage up, his spine-straight, his resolve firm, and to have a successful presidency.

In fact, there's no stronger defense of an action than to say, "I have to do this. The people who voted me into office are raising Hell."

The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in time of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality. -- John F. Kennedy (inspired by Dante's Inferno)

[ Parent ]
Cool.
As for FDR as for Obama, "I agree with you, I want to do it, now make me do it." FDR, as does Obama, understands that a President does not rule by fiat and unilateral commands to a nation. He must build the political support that makes his decisions acceptable to us as citizens of the U.S.A.

[ Parent ]
The difference is that
Obama, unlike Huckabee, does have a good track record in working with the GLBT community here in Illinois. He went to a church that performs same-sex unions and has done so for sometime.

I don't believe for a moment that Obama actually believes the same as the Warren's, McClurkin's, and Meeks (that awful man) of the world. But even here in Chicago, he was never considered to have a whole lot of "street cred" in the blk. community until he started courting these bigot types.

[ Parent ]
Yes, Huckabee does have
that folksy "I can get along with him" quality that Clinton has. Must be something in the Arkansas water.

Did the "ex-gay" speaker actually say, "nanny-nanny pooh-pooh?" How gay of him.

Got it! If your sexual desires don't comport with Huckabees religion....
I've heard this from other right-wingers as well:

"Your sexual desires go against my religious beliefs therefore you cannot have sex with anyone or anything. You must live a celibate life and die alone because I have the right to dictate your behavior."

The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in time of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality. -- John F. Kennedy (inspired by Dante's Inferno)

The latest right-wing logic is clear
and now that homosexuality is becoming more known as a trait one is born with, people like Huckabee have changed their argument about why being gay is wrong.  Likening it to alcoholism is an easy-to-understand analogy that seems to make sense to a lot of straight people who are already predisposed to believing homosexuality is a sin.

Therefore, we have to be ready to address this fallacious argument as a community and as individuals who support the equality of gays to lead their lives as it comes naturally to them.  You are not diagnosed as an alcoholic until it is apparent that your behavior is harming yourself and other people.  How is my relationship with my partner harming myself or other people?  The only answer they can give at this point is that my relationship shames my family or is abhorred by God or something like that.

I am physically and emotionally healthy, as determined by any certified doctor or psychologist.  There is no physical detriment due to my physical relationship with my partner.  I am not on any medication.  My church and my family accepts me and my relationship as being whole, loving and holy.  So, where's the comparison to alcoholism?

People like Huckabee need to prove homosexuality is harmful, if they want to be taken seriously.  This proof needs to be backed up by scientific research in the medical and psychological communities (which it no longer is - a major problem for them).  If not, it is simply false science that he is passing off as an expert.  He is not an expert in anything but his own brand of religion and his words are the only psychologically scarring consequence left for many gays who have family and church acceptance.

The fact that he was running for president in one of this country's major political parties is a national embarrassment.

Always on the wrong side of history
"...it is simply false science that he is passing off as an expert.  He is not an expert in anything but his own brand of religion and his words are the only psychologically scarring consequence left for many gays who have family and church acceptance."

For Huckabee and his ilk there is a disconnect between their views on homosexuality (and human sexuality in general) and the way in which they lead their own lives.  No Christian today holds himself accountable to the dietary laws of the ancient Hebrews - which is also laid out in Leviticus, the source of the verse so confusing to Christians in which "men laying with men" is described as an "abomination".

Well, eating shellfish is an "abomination" too.  According to the laws of Moses, these creatures are "unclean" and consuming them pollutes the eater in much the same way that menstruation was seen to pollute women.

No Christian husband sends his wife away during menstruation so that he won't be polluted by her.  But the ancient Hebrews did.  Similarly, no Christian today believes that wearing clothing made of mixed fibers is a sin, nor not covering their heads, nor wearing the color red, etc.  The ONLY verse in Leviticus that they still see as valid is the one, single verse seemingly against homosexuality.

So, the rules only apply to people they don't like; they don't apply them to themselves.

There is nothing inherently harmful with homosexuality, any more than there is with heterosexuality.  The harm that most gays and lesbians face today comes from those who will not accept them and who make it their life's mission to demean and smear all homosexuals with the fears and prejudices of bigots and homophobes.

I always come back to this point: Being gay was never a choice for me.  I never chose to be attracted to men and not attracted to women.  But being a Christian IS a choice, and so why should that choice be given a privilege that my non-choice of sexual orientation has?

The next time that Huckabee goes to the doctor, I hope like hell that he asks for leeches instead of antibiotics.  Gotta stay consistent on that "science is evil" thing, no?

[ Parent ]
No one is predisposed to believing anything is a sin
It is a learned response.

[ Parent ]
Marriage bigots don't care about consent...
...otherwise they would be okay with two adults contracting with the state in a civil marriage.

Yes, Huckabee;s smart...
...and he knows that most people aren't, so he makes stupid arguments to appeal to them.  Can't go broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public and all that.
The argument is not for the purpose of making a reasoned argument. It serves to associate us with despised groups in peoples minds, while simultaneously giving them plausible deniability that that is what they are trying to do.
So they get to play the victim card claiming we falsely accused them, when they didn't EXPLICITLY call us dogfuckers, they just said we had the same legal right to marry as they do.

Happiness is a Warm Gun
One of these days, some LGBT person who has lost a child, home, spouse, pension, and/or job to federal inequality will put a bullet through the head of people like Huckabee, Rick Warren, etc,. and others who are obsessed with EXCLUDING our families from U.S. law.

ALL of the above horrors have already happened to many due to marriage inequality alone. Why isn't this HATE against our family seen as the VIOLENCE that it really is? Cause and Effect. Laws have consequences. So does hate. THE AGE OF THE SISSY IS OVER. Haters will need to take responsibility for the suffering THEY create.

Heterosexuals would be all "give me liberty of give me death" when it comes to defending THEIR families.   We call in gay for a day and donate millions for advertising so we are "liked" enough for civil rights.
Who is pathetic?
[equality tax revolt]

Decades MORE of Psychological Abuse? - OR - Stonewall.  Nationwide.  NOW!

Sheesh to hear the fundies tell it
the homosexual facists are already threatening those peace-loving quiet Mormons and Catholics and their places of worship, the facists are picking on the good Christian black people, the facists are plotting a takeover of the Army (and hence the government) as soon as DADT is repealed.

But these same types think that it's OK if a family moves in and assumes all legal responsibility from a long-term partner in the case of a debilitating illness (a relative of mine inferred this to me a few days ago). They think it's OK to defame gay people in any way and with any name that they deem in the media.

I feel your anger, John. Still...

If it taught US anything...it is that such tactics are futile. You can kill the messenger but the message lives on.

If 2008 taught US anything...as Senator Dianne Feinstein stated during President Obama's Inauguration...the ballot won out over the bullet (alluding to Malcolm X's famous question).

Moreover, Senator Dianne Feinstein remembers what happened to Moscone and Milk...she was there.

Moscone and Milk did not die in vain...their message lives on in US.

"Those who doubt the supremacy of the ballot over the bullet can never diminish the power engendered by nonviolent struggles for justice and equality, like the one that made this day possible. No triumph tainted by brutality could ever match the sweet victory of this hour and of what it means to those who marched and died to make it a reality." - Senator Dianne Feinstein

[ Parent ]
Sadly, I agree with you completely
And, it is only a matter of time before an LGBT person picks up a gun and shoots some people with it. When it happens, I'll be interested in seeing the public reaction.

No question, the world would be improved if some of these people were blown straight to Hell with a shotgun - God knows they deserve it. If it were clear to me that shooting bigots would help, I'd be happy to see it.

Unfortunately, no matter how much people like Warren deserve it, I'm afraid gunning bigots down would turn public opinion against gays.

There are lots of ways to get the attention of the public that have been highly effective, but they require a lot more creativity, organization, and work then taking a gun and shooting someone.

Huck the Traitor
wants to keep the Confederate flag flying, the flag of treason, the flag of slavery, the flag that flies by statues of General Nathan B Forrest who committed the Ft Pillow massacre of black US Soldiers, the flag of Robert E Lee who seized black Pennsylvanians and sent them into slavery.

I never want to hear from the right about Bill Ayers again, he did not massacre unarmed soldiers not did he sell civilians into slavery, not did his organisation finance and arm John Wilkes Booth(gee, why don't they raise statues to that hero of theirs?)
