The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Vatican and Bishops Aware of Abuse- Over 50 Years Ago

Louise :: Vatican and Bishops Aware of Abuse- Over 50 Years Ago
From the National Catholic Reporter:

As early as the mid-1950s, decades before the clergy sexual-abuse crisis broke publicly across the U.S. Catholic landscape, the founder of a religious order that dealt regularly with priest sex abusers was so convinced of their inability to change that he searched for an island to purchase with the intent of using it as a place to isolate such offenders, according to documents recently obtained by NCR.

Fr. Gerald Fitzgerald, founder of the Servants of the Paracletes, an order established in 1947 to deal with problem priests, wrote regularly to bishops in the United States and to Vatican officials, including the pope, of his opinion that many sexual abusers in the priesthood should be laicized immediately.

Fitzgerald was a prolific correspondent who wrote regularly of his frustration with and disdain for priests "who have seduced or attempted to seduce little boys or girls." His views are contained in letters and other correspondence that had previously been under court seal and were made available to NCR by a California law firm in February.

Fitzgerald's convictions appear to significantly contradict the claims of contemporary bishops that the hierarchy was unaware until recent years of the danger in shuffling priests from one parish to another and in concealing the priests' problems from those they served.

It is clear, too, in letters between Fitzgerald and a range of bishops, among bishops themselves, and between Fitzgerald and the Vatican, that the hierarchy was aware of the problem and its implications well before the problem surfaced as a national story in the mid-1980s.

The NCR source linked above also has a link to the letters. They go on, case after case.

Strictly for the record...
they were aware of it 500 years ago.  In Homosexuality and Civilization (a terrific book, by the way) Louis Crompton prints a letter from some concerned parents in Florence to their bishop, complaining about a priest who's been molesting their sons and demanding that the bishop remove him.  Their bishop, serenely, magisterially, did nothing.

The letter was written in the 14th century.

The thing is, QScribe, that it was ever so much easier for them in the past.
The fact that some christers have decided to give us a break and support same sex marriage is actually good. But it doesn't change history, especially the murderous history of the roman cult. We wont' forget what they did to us because we can't afford to forget.

Today the only difference between the catholic cult and the ayatollahs is not their desire to hurt and oppress us but their ability. If Karl Rove or Josh Dubois, theocratic Ministers of Pandering in the Bush and Obama governments ever get their way and destroy the secular character of this Republic then all bets are off.

Rape, child rape, and mass murder accompanied by wholesale theft and looting were common occupations of the catholic cults clergy until 1789-1799, when the French revolution began to use the 'National Razor' on gluttonous priests and bishops to good effect.

Before that the catholic cult, and its protestant and orthodox siblings were the scourge of civilization; their depredations were far, far worse than anything dreamt of by Attila and all his Huns. They don't call the rise of the christers the Dark Ages for nothing.

I know that it's slowly, ever so slowly, dawning on some christers that being the literal heirs of the Dark Ages can be a bit uncomfortable here in the 21st century CE but I still find myself smirking from ear to ear when I read the sentiments attributed to many French revolutionaries to the effect that

"Mankind will not be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest".

The looter rich much prefer working with Democrats like Obama and the Clintons - they're greedier, they fool more people and they're able to get away with a lot more than Republicans.

THE ANTI-CATHOLIC RANT.....

Well, thank you for winning a wager with other bloggers here.

An anti-Christian blog was certainly coming from the "usual cast of suspects". I won more for guessing who would author it and who would offer the first commentary.

I have had 150 comments on religion in two days. This thread should yield twice to three times as many comments.
They will write to praise you and share their vitriol about Roman Catholicism - from the false Constantine Donation to the Babylonian Captivity to the Prada-wearing Benedict XVI.

Anyone who has read me knows that I am not a Roman Catholic bishop. The Via Media is a marriage of the Reformation and Catholic belief, and that defines Anglicanism. There are many Catholic faith systems that do not owe its allegiance to the Roman Pontiff. Greek Orthodoxy is also defined as Catholic and Apostolic outside the Roman obedience.

There is no one who condones paedophilia. There is no one who condones the scapegoating of gay clergy and religious who are not paedophiles. There is no liberal Catholic theologian who accepts the "Papenfuhrer's" views on sexual theology, especially the "instrically disordered" views he espoused as a cardinal prefect on Halloween a decade and a half ago.

DIGNITY is the association of LGBT Roman Catholics. They must often receive direct persecution from the Church they love as well as verbal abuse from gays and lesbians with a virulent hatred of Roman Catholicism.

There are other gay-affirming groups for many different denominations, with such names as INTEGRITY or AFFIRMATION.
The gay Christian who serves his faith is the same as the gay Christian soldier who serves his country.....despite the fact that their Church or Country persecute them.

It takes courage to serve those who despise you. Do I think that "despise" is too harsh a word. Having read my thread in two days, I think that the definition is mild indeed !!!

No gay or lesbian, heterosexual, bisexual or transgendered person with a conscience would condone the action of bishops who covered the actions of paedophile priests and lay religious. As a father of a six almost seven year old, the thought that someone would harm him would turn me into someone I would not recognize, and whose actions against that person would know no limits.

If this thread is just a venue to rant further against gay Christians, then have it ....I do not intend to contribute any more than what I have just said.

Let the vitriol and the F bombs fly !!

From MayoClinic.com
The symptoms for narcisstic personality disorder (NPD):

Narcissistic personality disorder symptoms may include:

Believing that you're better than others

Fantasizing about power, success and attractiveness

Exaggerating your achievements or talents

Expecting constant praise and admiration

Believing that you're special

Failing to recognize other people's emotions and feelings

Expecting others to go along with your ideas and plans

Taking advantage of others

Expressing disdain for those you feel are inferior

Being jealous of others

Believing that others are jealous of you

Trouble keeping healthy relationships

Setting unrealistic goals

Being easily hurt and rejected

Having a fragile self-esteem

Appearing as tough-minded or unemotional
=====================================================

Although some features of narcissistic personality disorder may seem like having confidence or strong self-esteem, it's not the same. Narcissistic personality disorder crosses the border of healthy confidence and self-esteem into thinking so highly of yourself that you put yourself on a pedestal. In contrast, people who have healthy confidence and self-esteem don't value themselves more than they value others.

When you have narcissistic personality disorder, you may come across as conceited, boastful or pretentious. You often monopolize conversations. You may belittle or look down on people you perceive as inferior. You may have a sense of entitlement. And when you don't receive the special treatment to which you feel entitled, you may become very impatient or angry. You may also seek out others you think have the same special talents, power and qualities - people you see as equals. You may insist on having "the best" of everything - the best car, athletic club, medical care or social circles, for instance.

But underneath all this grandiosity often lies a very fragile self-esteem. You have trouble handling anything that may be perceived as criticism. You may have a sense of secret shame and humiliation. And in order to make yourself feel better, you may react with rage or contempt and efforts to belittle the other person to make yourself appear better.

"Exhibit A", everyone. Watch what other tricks he can do!

"It goes on one at a time, it starts when you care to act, it starts when you do it again after they said no, it starts when you say We and know who you mean, and each day you mean one more."

Louise, it really isn't nice of you
to pick on this poor, deluded halfwit.  He single-handedly got gay marriage legalized in Canada!  And he did it four years before the Canadian government!  Don't you know that good, saintly antisemites like him are the only ones working for gay equality?  Don't you know that his loopy superstitions are better than anyone else's?  It must be true--he said so, and he's a bishop.  Have a little respect!

It would really fuck with his head
if he knew I'm quarter Canadian.

Whoopsie! Did I just hit "POST"?

My bad.

I know facts don't interest you, Your Grace,
but what you characterize as an "anti-Catholic rant" consists of a quoted passage from the National Catholic Reporter.  Maybe if you'd stop spitting venom at everyone in the world who has a different viewpoint than you-atheists, Jews--you'd have time to work on your reading comprehension.

Wow, Padre...taking this a little personally?
Did anyone see anything in Louise's post about "gay christians"?

Or any reference to the Padre?

Or any inferrence that he was a catholic?

Wow, what a fabulous example of narcissism.

Question:  What does an atheist do when they fall to the floor and start "speaking in tongues"?

HERE YE! HERE YE!
Believe it or not, this was NOT REGARDING "BISHOP" RAYMOND...

Please refrain in the future from using the words "Bishop", "Raymond" and "Canada" in any of your posts, as clearly you will be violating his sensibilities.

And back away slowly... very slowly...

I guess I missed something while I was away
I was in Arizona for only a week and I must have missed something good.

When you look for the bad in mankind, expecting to find it, you surely will.

Oh, it's been a fun 24 hours!
C'mon and sit down; I'll squooch over and clue ya in.

Apparently I'm really pathetic!

Breaking my own rule
This Bishop is one I respect most highly...

"It goes on one at a time, it starts when you care to act, it starts when you do it again after they said no, it starts when you say We and know who you mean, and each day you mean one more."

It's "god"
that I just can't buy into...

Is anyone suprised?
I will just restate one thing.  Until Cardinal Law is brought forward and face prosecution, all those who follow the Pope and donate to the RCC are guilty of protecting the child molester.

As for flaming all religious folks, I believe they are all guilty of protecting the child molesters.  When they all can band together to deny LGBT folks their rights, then they can band together to get Cardinal Law put behind bars for harming children.

Now I know there are LGBT friendly religions out there who call for the child molesting criminals to be put in jail, so NO, I am not painting with a wide brush.

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

Religious-minded people can distinguish between God and institutional church, ....
even though many do not manage or wish to make this distinction.

Catholic laity and priests have a wide variety of opinions (in the case of priests, best not expressed in some company). While there are some who think that any opinions or actions by the members of the hierarchy must be right, there are a good many who think that their bishop is a buffoon or worse.

I am not Roman Catholic, but I do see decent RC laypeople and clergy who persist at quixotic attempts at loyal opposition - they want to change the Roman Church, not abandon it. Others just bolt and take their tithes elsewhere. I am in favor of option #2, but admit that since the Roman Church is going to be around for a while, those that try to speak from within are hoping to alter attitudes that affect a very large population of traditional ethnic Roman Catholic laity.

I can't say a kind word for the current crop of bishops, at least the representative types seen in my town over 20 years. I have met some decent priests and fabulous nuns. (Nuns can be far more outspoken than diocesan priests, due to the different bosses, superior of the order vs. diocesan bishop, and due to the fact that the menz often don't pay all that much attention to the "grllz".)

We're still here, we're still queer and someday the institutional Church will get used to it.
I've been Catholic all my life-never was abused by a Priest or hit with a ruler.  The only "abuse" I've ever encountered in the Catholic church has been from lay people. (and a good bit from anti Catholic people as well)  I've never received anything but acceptance from any of the Priests and Sisters that have been a part of my life. They were the people who told me that God created me AS I AM and to stop trying to be someone I wasn't.  It was the Sisters of Charity, and the Benedictine Sisters and Priests who taught me that God loves us ALL and it is because of them that I advocate for social justice now.

I'm not Catholic because of the Pope..I'm Catholic in spite of him.  I'm Catholic because I find a peace and serenity in the Mass that I can find nowhere else.  I do not donate to Bishop's appeals, I give only to support my local church so they can keep the lights on.

Those of us who stay in the Church aren't stupid, we know we're fighting an uphill battle. But like any justice issue, we feel it's worth the effort.

Well said
Having worked with the Sisters of Mercy in Baltimore for many years, I completely agree and understand supporting those within the Church that you know directly. One of the Sisters was a dear friend that I miss terribly; she could be so darned mouthy and sarcastic when she got her Irish up- and the stories she would tell me were great gossip.

I remember one time she stopped in mid-story and commented on my shocked expression- when I laughed and said, "Well, sorry- you just don't sound like a nun, talking about Sr So-and-So like this!"

She said, "Look, kid- we may be nuns, but we aren't saints! We're people, too!"

A delightful woman...

One of my uncles married a lovely Catholic girl from Chicago when he was in the Navy 40 years ago- she was the first truly devout Catholic I ever met (my uncle converted to Catholicism). She also has this peace and serenity within her; it is a beautiful part of her and her generous, loving spirit. I have utterly adored her since I was a little kid.

In other late-breaking news: sun to rise in the east tomorrow...
Heard this laugher on the radio today. The founder of this famous order must have been quite the swinger - has a 20-something daughter living in Spain, as well as a history of abusing his seminarians.

Pope Benedict XVI has taken the extraordinary step of ordering an investigation into a conservative Roman Catholic order that recently disclosed that its late founder had fathered a child.

The Vatican secretary of state, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, said investigators would visit all of the institutions run by the Legionaries of Christ, one of the fastest-growing orders in the Catholic church.

Bertone said, in a letter to the head of the order posted today on the Legion's website, that Benedict was stepping in "so that with truth and transparency, in a climate of fraternal and constructive dialogue, you will overcome the present difficulties."

The Legionaries of Christ was much admired by the late Pope John Paul II for its conservative view, strict loyalty to Vatican teaching and success in enrolling recruits. However, its Mexican founder, the Rev. Marcial Maciel, was long dogged by allegations that he sexually abused seminarians.

In 2006, the Vatican disciplined him on the sexual abuse charges, asking that he lead a "reserved life of prayer and penance," and refrain from celebrating mass in public. He died in 2008.

After reading these comments,
I wanna go spank a priest and I don't know why....

Decades more of abuse? - OR - Stonewall.  Nationwide.  NOW!

LOL
And I'm sure a bunch of priests are hoping you WILL, John.  "OOOh Me first, Pick me!!!"

In a liturgical and dignified way, of course.

Not surprised in the least.
Also wouldn't be surprised if it's still going on, esp. in areas where the Catholic church still holds considerable influence.

What makes this post so remarkable...
...is the source from which the story broke. Wow.
