Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

So which pols are going to go on Imus now?

by: Pam Spaulding

Mon Apr 09, 2007 at 11:30:00 AM EDT

[UPDATE: Sharpton and Imus spar on the radio. Crooks & Liars has the audio here. Among other things he said "Our agenda is to be funny and sometimes we go too far. And this time we went way too far." Yeah. Ya think? Meanwhile, Black Ministers in N.J. call for Imus' resignation. ]

[UPDATE 2: MSNBC suspends Imus simulcast for two weeks.]

It will be interesting to see which politicians will line up to grace the Imus "Nappy ho" Show now. He's been backpedaling, apologizing on the air a couple of time as the heat was turned on (see my post, Don Imus: Rutgers women's basketball team 'nappy-headed hos').

For all the bluster - he's planning an appearance on Al Sharpton's show at 1 PM today (you can listen at sharptontalk.net). [An aside -- why the dominant culture assumes that people like Sharpton and Jesse Jackson speak for all black folks is both amusing and frustrating -- but that's another post in itself.] Imus's show has a history of broadcasting bigoted remarks with few repercussions. If folks are going to call out Ann Coulter for lobbing the faggot bomb, certainly the inflammatory bigotry by Imus deserves as much attention.

Columnist Clarence Page was on CNN this AM and said that six years ago he asked Imus to refrain from racist humor on the air. Page likened Imus's comments about the womens Rutgers basketball team to the morning show host "falling off the wagon" -- he simply can't help himself, and won't stop it until he's hit where it hurts.

After the flip, Earl Ofari Hutchinson on why Imus is not likely to face the music from his masters.

Pam Spaulding :: So which pols are going to go on Imus now?
Hutchinson:
But even if Imus had made a sincere bare-the-chest heartfelt apology it wouldn't amount to much. That's the standard ploy that shock jocks, GOP big wigs, and assorted public personalities employ when they get caught with their racial pants down.

...The other reason it's virtually impossible to permanently muzzle Imus and others that talk race trash is the sphinx like silence of top politicians, broadcast industry leaders, and corporate sponsors. GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney and former Democratic presidential contender John Kerry bantered with Imus on his show in recent weeks. Yet, Romney hasn't uttered a word condemning Imus's bile. And Kerry issued a tepid statement through a spokeswoman in which he merely branded it "a stupid comment" and praised him for owning up to it.

While Kerry and Romney are two of the better known politicians to recently cackle with and at Imus's digs on the show, a steady parade of politicians and personalities have trooped to Imus's microphones over the years. And not all of them, as Kerry and Romney showed, are hard-line GOP conservatives. Senators Joe Lieberman and John McCain leaped over each other to get a spot with Imus.

And we haven't a heard a peep from any of them about his remarks.

Will 2008 candidates show up to gab and laugh with Imus without commenting about his "nappy-headed hos" remark?

It's a fair question to ask them - and Page calls on journalists, particularly black journalists, to put the candidates' feet to the fire. The National Association of Black Journalists in particular, has no patience for Imus:

Black radio Sunday debated the appropriate response to WFAN-AM morning host Don Imus calling the Rutgers University women's basketball team "nappy-headed hos" last week.

The Rev. Al Sharpton and the National Association of Black Journalists were joined by many callers and guests in demanding Imus be fired, which WFAN and its parent CBS Radio gave no indication is in their plans.

CBS and MSNBC, which simulcasts his show, condemned the comment and said they will monitor him. Imus apologized on the air Friday and Monday, which may not be enough to put it behind him.

Tepid responses Just don't cut it..
Actually hearing and seeing the Imus comment this morning on Democracy Now made my blood BOIL. So called "shock jocks"get away with endless hate speech. The lack of consequeces show they can. Let this incident be the beginning of a new era.

Imus must go, Beck, Limbaugh. Caulter, Savage, Malkin ALL of them need to be rediculed, boycotted and disgraced for the cancers they are. The Rainbow Push is planning Demos today at NBC,it time to get back into the streets.Sharpton is right, nothing short of firing Imus will do.

Politicans who give tempid answers or side step the "hot botton" issues, deserve NO gay or progressive money or support. Once we were a valued constituency. It is time we were again. Shame Shame Shame must be heaped on politicians who consort with bigots. Its time to ACT UP ! and make a lot of noise doing it.

In Europe they have laws regarding hate speech. Its easy to tell the difference between free speech and hate speech. Imus's remarks were so appalling if he stays his ALL platforms MUST be boycotted.

Plain and Simple
He should be fired immediately.  AND if he isn't, and a candidate for the 2008 Presidentail election appears on his show, that candidate can be assured that he or she will NOT get my vote.

I think Imus should go, but I also think that there's no way Savage...
...and Limbaugh will be fired for similar statements.  Their listeners listen for their bigotry.  They'd be fired ONLY IF they weren't bigots.

Firing isn't good enough.
Imus and his ilk should be put on an industry-wide 'do not hire / do not engage' list, so that their voices are taken away.  Media outlets that do not respect the 'do not hire' list and rehire him, should be thrown out of whatever organizations they are in.

His apology is pathetic; I don't care how many crocodile tears he cries.

And any politician that goes on his show doesn't get my vote.

Social outrage is power protecting itself; it is not morality. -- Andrea Dworkin

Rehab?
So the question now is whether Imus will announce that he's back on the sauce and go into rehab.  Funny how bigots use rehab as a way to recover from being bigots.  Is that what they really do in rehab?  Stop drinking and stop being bigots?  That's some amazing shit, that rehab.

This is not just racial!
This is not just racial, this is a smack in the face to women athletes and women in general.  How dare he call these women by that degrading name!
He should be dismissed.  This man, and I use the term loosely, is embarassment to mankind!

I'm not defending Imus, but...
...we should remember he is one of the original "shock jocks" who paved the way for people like Savage and (on the nonpolitical side) Howard Stern.  This comment didn't surprise me in the least, and I don't think anything will happen because of it.  It's Imus being Imus.  Doesn't make it right, but it shouldn't shock anyone that he said it.

but he should be held accountable
He clearly didn't see anything wrong with his comment (or those of his colleagues), even after telling Clarence Page he'd quit the racist bile ages ago. It's the same as saying "oh, that's just Ann Coulter, just ignore her" when she hurled "faggot" as only a "school yard taunt" for us to just get over.  Imus needs to be shamed as much as Coulter was, even if the net result doesn't get him fired. What both said were simply wrongheaded and vile. They have a right to say the drivel, and we have the right to call it out.

[ Parent ]
I absolutely agree, pam...
...and I'd like to see it happen.  There is a HUGE difference between the sexually suggestive things Imus said to get his early reputation and the offensive comments he made now.  Honestly, I'm jut not holding my breath that anything will happen.  We're still stuck with Coulter and Savage after all too.  :-/

Rutgers Women'sasketball
As a white male, a Rutgers alumnus, and a NJ resident I am outraged by the reamrks made by Imus.  They are beyond categorization.  I cannot comprehend how, in 2007, anyone can even think such garbage let alone utter it to an audience of millions.  The remarks were mean, hurtful, racist, and plain disgusting. No apology can undo the hurt those Rutgers student/athletes must have felt.  T

hey brough honor to their university, their state and everyone involved with Rutgers athletics.  And then this biggot opens his foul mouth. My heart aches for these young women that they had to be exposed to this after what they accomplished.

And why does it seem only the Black community is commenting on this and doing something about it?

Imus comments
What a bunch of pathetic f***s you are. Why is it that its okay to constantly put down and laugh at white males and thats O.K. but lord forbid anyone say anything about a homo , a black , or any minority group. give me a break. I don't care if blacks and other groups make fun of me as a white male but you are going to have to take the same abuse , get over it. As far as Imus goes it seems his comments were actually poking fun at what they themselves often call themselves amongst other things. And in addition if you don't want to be perceived as trash than maybe you shouldn't tat yourself up and look and talk like trash. As for blacks, they have more opportunity today than anyone, all they have to do is take advantage of it. Here's some advice whether you want it or not. Stop defining yourself as being black as meaning you have to look like a crack selling thug and acting ignorant , you don't , and to define being black this way is an insult to all black people. Also blacks and young white people today have a group ignorance mentality, try being individuals and seeking out who and what you are as a person rather than letting some ignorant retard on MTV tell you how you should act. Group mentalities are never good as you are always trying to be like someone else , instead try to find and be yourself, this is good advice for all races.Education and intelligence is the way to a better future not following ignorant MTV trash that is only perpetuated by corporate america to make money and doesn't give a DAMN about our society.

I'm all for personal responsibility,
but if you think racism is dead in this country and all a brown person's got to do is work hard and they'll succeed unimpeded by bigoted morons, you're as dumb as your rant makes you sound.  Sincerely,
A White Person

hilarious
Man, that's w-e-a-k -- I guess we have someone from Little Green Footballs here today?

go back under the bridge you crawled out from..

I for one have used the links..which led to more links and am seizing the day. Lots of emails. Hate speech towards any group of people is not entertainment. The marketplace will dictate this. There comes a moment when critical mass is reached. Time for some Spring Cleaning. Networks and Outlets that ignore us,do so at their own peril.  Did you hear the one about the White Cracker ?  Well i will spare you because you know what..its just not worth repeating. If you cannot connect the dots of hatred there is no hope for you. And being white priviledges are inherent that you and your ilk are too dense to apparently to comprehend. In the meantime there are more important things to do than throw flames. The FCC and all the Westwood One affiates gonna get an in box full today.

self hatred
It must be hard for so many white people that hate themselves for commiting the awful crime of being born white. Maybe if the terrible self hating whities commit mass suicide the world will be a better place with less evil whities. LOL,LOL,LOL

what, and take away your fun ?
naw, that wouldn't be nice of us.  we know you need someone to piss on to feel good, because inside you feel like moldering shite.  i see you LOLing on the outside, but you're crying on the inside.  Ron, it is possible to love youself without hating others.  go see a therapist if you need help understanding how this can be done.

all are welcome
Who said anything about hating others. All are welcome at my table but I do require a few things . INTELLIGENCE unless you have a legitimate excuse, HONESTY, DECENCY , MORALITY, and knowing how to be CIVILIZED. People of all types can fit this bill , the question is "DO THEY CHOSE TO?"

yeah, cuz suggesting mass suicide is love, not hate.
so much for being CIVILIZED!  you're a trip.  Pam is right --  W*E*A*K !! Click HERE and sign up: Campaign For Military Partners.

Laugh a little
Man, you have no sense of humor , it was a joke. Lighten up you'll live longer.

Yeah right
Imus said a no-no and Al Sharpton is upset.

What he ought to be upset about is his own race putting the Black American 100 years behind and do something about something that really matters.

Ludacris, and I quote:

Here I come, here I go
UH OH! Don't jump bitch, move
You see them headlights? You hear that fuckin' crowd?
Start that goddamn show, I'm comin' through
Hit the stage and knock the curtains down
I fuck the crowd up - that's what I do
Young and successful - a sex symbol
The bitches want me to fuck - true true
Hold up wait up, shorty
"Oh wazzzupp, get my dick sucked, what are yoouu doin'?"
Sidelinin' my fuckin' bussiness
Tryin' to get my baby child support soon
Give me that truck and take that rental back
Who bought these fuckin' T.V.'s and jewelry bitch, tell me that?
No, I ain't bitter, I don't give a fuck
But i'ma tell you like this bitch
You better not walk in front of my tour bus

Need I say any more? Act like a nappy headed ho and get called one. Bill Cosby was right, so right in his comments.

AMEN
AMEN AMEN AMEN AMEN AMEN, CAN I GET AN AMEN?

ah the irony..

Seems the medical staff at Imus Ranch who tend to the sick children are all from New Jersey. Hackensack Medical Center.

pssst..by the way not to knock charity but TRUST ME, the Ranch looks a lot better on paper regarding its charitable works than what they actually do in reality. Imus and the ilk that listen to this type of show cop a clue : its just not funny. Never has been. And according to him, he sometimes goes to far. Well its all gone way to far. Its thin ice, don't want to fall through it ? Stay off it. Calling people like this comedians give real comedians a very bad name. ie. Limbaugh a comedian ? In whose universe ? All rhetorical questions of course but most people know when they are listening to comedy and when they are not. As far as i know these laugh riots have not had front line billing at any Vegas Casino. And as the original post points out. Politicians be on notice, lay down with dogs wake up with fleas.

Too bad too SAD ...NOT...imus is suspended from MSNBC

whatever shall the humor impaired do for laughes now ?

  http://www.wnbc.com/...

seeeeee ya "i mussed the boat"  bah bye !

Listen up and listen well...
...I'm sure that Pam and her cohorts know this quite well.

One, with advertising driven media, the point of the media is not to provide the viewer (or listener, in the case of radio) with information or entertainment.  The customer isn't the viewer.  The customers are the advertisers.  That was brought home to me a couple of decades ago by nothing less than the Wall Street Journal.

Two, complaining to the broadcasters won't work if the object is to get Don "I'm an ass" in the morning off the air, or off of MSNBC.  The reason is that complaining to the stations just shows that you are watching--you are watching their advertisements.  And that is what they are only interested in.

Regarding the advertisers, you might have some success if you complain to the advertisers and suggest that you would be less likely to buy their products because of their advertising on Don "I'm an ass" in the Morning.  That's pretty much what worked with John Avarosis' boycott of Dr Laura's TV show.

The problem that you have with MSNBC is that they have nothing to substitute for Don "I'm an ass" in the morning.  They would probably run it commercial free because they don't have anything else to run.  The only program that anyone watches on MSNBC is Olberman's, and most of his digs are available elsewhere.
