This is what I'd have done:
- called 911
- filed a report claiming a death threat was announced

There is no 1st amendment protection for threatening people with death, just like there's none for yelling 'fire' in a crowded theater.

Homobigotry

We are not surprised to hear about this story... in 2004 we rode bicycles across the country to advocate for marriage equality.  Coincidently, we were in Topeka Kansas (home of Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church) when we received a death threat (by email!) with the exact same Biblical passage.  We had no doubt our lives were in danger.  And we were two grandmothers riding alone across America just trying to tell our side of the story in a non-confrontational way. 

It is sad that the Bible -- supposedly the "good Book" -- which leads to the path of "righteousness," is often used as a weapon to inspire death and destruction.

Scary Stuff

Interesting topic, On 05/26 and 06/02, My partner & I will arriving and leaving Ft Lauderdale Airport. We have a different airline and terminal than United. We'll keep an ear out to see if this bigoted message is broadcasted while we're there.

lauderaleification

I went through there recently (my MTF surgeon is in Miami Beach). The airport-uniformed guy pushing my wheelchair (who had no clue how recently female I am, or that I'd been married to the other lady with me for 30 years) PREACHED us a sermon all the way to our next gate. Maybe it was the same character? And to think if I'md made a joke with the word "bomb" in it, the feathers that would have flown!

Coral Ridge Ministries is not too far from that airport.

Getting preached at

I don't even have to leave work for that!  Our office assistant will preach to anyone that will stand still for more than 20 seconds.  She was going on so bad last night I almost screamed at her to STFU.  Then I'd be the demon-possessed child that couldn't bare listening to her "God blesses me and will smite all of you" rant.  It's a treat, let me tell you.

Born Again

7 of us worked in the fab shop, paid every two weeks, so on payday Friday, the foreman met us upat one of the local bars for lunch and beer, few games of darts, and more beer.
this went on for 6 or 7 months.  the next Monday. Dean went on vacation for 3 weeks,  he returned born again,  and out came preacher Dean.  payday Friday came and we all went to lunch as always.  Dean came in and said NO BEERS,and began preaching to the whole bar. we ordered beers anyway and Dean left,  The 7 of us got back to the shop with 15 min before going home.  Dean stood on a table running off at the mouth. "the sins of drinking" etc. until it was time to leave.  The next Monday morning, he had us sit for an hour of prayer, and the rules change of payday lunch.  it got nuts, so after 3 days of his preaching.  4 of the 7 quit. the following Monday.  The main boss called us in, asked if we would go back to work, he told us preacher dean was not to preach to us,  and if he did, tell him TSFU.  2 months later, preacher Dean was fired.

I've dealt with them.

We had a born again in the last office I worked in. He'd been home schooled and brought up in a mega church. He's irritating as hell with preaching, but a total spaz when he has to deal with real life.

He and his wife literally call their pastor to ask questions about anything they haven't dealt with before. The kid hadn't even heard of tips till he took his first trip out of the county(in his life!) to go with another worker to a training seminar.

It's really sad to see, even if he is an irritating person.

Every bad thing that happens to this woman in her life has something to do with the devil.  The devil is trying to put "snares in her way," trying to "hold her back," trying to "destroy her."  Yeah, she was feeling like she was being drawn out and persecuted at work so she goes off on this rant about this being "an attack by the devil run by unchristian, backslid people."

Let's just say I was glad to leave the office at the end of the day.

Genocide for Jesus

Leviticus 20:13 -- If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.

Anyone who claims their condemnation of homosexuality is based on the Bible is promoting genocide. These people are advocating and promoting mass murder, they just want to have laws pssed to make it legal and therefore not 'sinful' (like the adultery of remarriage).

And if they say that the first part of the verse counts but the second part doesn't, then they're lying about their morality.

If they use Leviticus 18:22 -- Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable -- but not Lev 20:13, then they are also lying about their morality.

Many of them do this, obviously to avoid looking like the advocates of murder that they are.

Hypocritical cowards to the core.

Play the Bible by the Rules,

Lets start at the beginning, shall we,
Genesis 1
  1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

  2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

  3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

  4And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

See, If you read from the start to fininsh, we are all GOD's children, now,

Lets go with Leviticus 20, you have to start from the top of the rules,

  1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

  2Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel, Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of his seed unto Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones.

  Key Word,,"ISREAL" , That tells me the Americans are free from all of Leviticus.  So why worry?

  Now lets go to Leviticus 18

Leviticus 18
  1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

  2Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am the LORD your God.

  3After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.

  WOW, the Key word, "ISREAL" again, and then mention Egypt, so what, why worry? 

  Now please don't get me wrong, I believe in Jesus, and GOD.  But I don't get the evil twisting that has become of the Bible.

  Back to the fun,

Romans 6
  1What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

  2God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

  3Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

  the first three tell me of Romans 6 Jesus accepted our sins, as he was crusified on the cross for us. and now to the end of Romans 6,

  23For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

  Which means to me, I live my life in the name of God, and will have eternal life.

  Well, my main point is, I am a believe in GOD, and the Lord Jesus.  I was taught the Bible from many teachers.

  If you can't start at the top and read all the way through, you can read it in sections, as the way it is written.  NOT ONE of GOD's Children are toast, He Judges when it is your time to be judged.

  And that is why the last part of the Bible,

Revelation 22
  1And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

  And the final passages read,

  19And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

  20He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.

  21The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Twisting

What these nut jobs lack is not just sense but a sense of history (not that they care, of course).

Listen, even at the time these texts were redacted, 6th century BCE, some laws were considered overly harsh.

How do we know this?

Because Jewish legal discussions record that to put somebody to death for such a crime, you had to have two witnesses.  How likely was that?  Not at all. 

That's how the laws that were considered harsh were finessed.  They weren't expunged since they were part of history, but they were defanged.

Christian nutjobs don't know this, nor would they care, particularly, but it's worth noting for the rest of us to clear the air and make us realize what was really going on.  People were not being stoned left, right and center (pace The Life of Brian).
