Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

NH governor signs civil unions bill

by: Pam Spaulding

Thu May 31, 2007 at 13:00:00 PM EDT

HB 437 has been signed into law by Governor John Lynch the measure now allows New Hampshire to offer civil unions to same-sex couples, joining Connecticut, New Jersey, Vermont,  California, Maine,  Washington State in giving legal recognition to their relationships in some shape or form. It's not equality, but it's another chip in the wall.
"It's never too soon to act to prevent discrimination," Lynch said at the signing ceremony.

The change came swiftly in a state that had outlawed same-sex marriages in 1987, sailing through the two houses of the state legislature in April. It followed an electoral shift in the state, known for its "Live Free or Die" motto and for holding the first presidential election primaries. Democrats last year gained control of the state legislature for the first time in more than a century.

"People in committed relationships should not have to worry about visiting a loved one in a hospital, or whether their loved ones will inherit their estate, or the many other legal protections so many of us take for granted," Lynch said.

Reactions after the flip.

National Stonewall Democrats:
"New Hampshire has not only provided family protections in the form of civil unions, but the Granite State has just given us an example of why it is important to elect Democrats to public office," said Jo Wyrick, NSD Executive Director. "This important step towards equal access and responsibility in marriage was only taken after voters elected Democratic majorities this past year to both the New Hampshire Senate and House of Representatives."

In previous years, the Republican-controlled legislative bodies in New Hampshire had made repeated attempts to enact anti-gay legislation, including attempted bans on adoption and marriage for same-sex couples. However, Democratic lawmakers moved quickly to use their new majorities formed earlier this year to enact pro-family legislation such as the civil unions law signed today by Governor Lynch.

HRC:
?The state of New Hampshire can now proudly be counted among the one out of every five states in this country that are leading the way in recognizing the love and commitment of all couples,? said Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese. ?Governor Lynch and the Legislature have taken an important stand on the side of fairness, and by doing so New Hampshire is now helping move our country even closer to the realization of equality.

?This law is a significant step toward giving all New Hampshire families the rights, responsibilities and protections they need,? said HRC President Joe Solmonese. ?Thanks to the Legislature, Governor John Lynch and countless supporters of fairness across the state, all New Hampshire families will be significantly more protected by this new civil unions law.?

Solmonese continued, ?This is a major step toward ensuring equality for all families. The conversation about marriage and the rights and protections only it provides will continue. As we are doing across the country, we will continue to tell the stories of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender families in New Hampshire so that soon there will be no need for two lines at the town clerk?s office ? one for GLBT families and one for everybody else.?

Three Cheers for N.H.!!!

Congrats New Hampshire
Read the linked yahoo article and somewhere's else read an AP article on the NH signing.  Can't help but notice that confusion continues around which states and what type of relationship recognition they have are cited.
This yahoo article notes all of New England correctly but then goes on to quote, "domestic partnerships in California, Distric of Columbia, and Hawaii granting some rights...."
Well that some part might be true for DC and Hawaii, but for Califorina it's ALL the state rights.  The yahoo article doesn't evenn mention the new DP laws passed in Washignton and Oregon.

Then the AP article incorrectly lumps Maine in with full CU or DP states when all Maine provides is basically "next of kinship" rights only.  Too many combinatons and permitations...why not just plain marriage for those who want to be able to make that choice?

rights
I'm just back from Quebec City and my partner and I went through customs together.  On the way back, we did so separately.  It's always a slap in the face to be reminded you have fewer rights in your own country than you might if you lived elsewhere.

I see the day coming soon when America will have big concentrations of freedom: New England and some of the mid-Atlantic states, and the Northwest and California.  As for the rest of the states?  They're behind the times and even behind South Africa.

And so it was...
At so many other times in the past when individual freedoms and rights were concerned.

The South and middle America will refuse to change until they are forced to.

Even today, Alabama's governor signed a resolution apologizing for slavery.  2007 and it's taken this long for Alabama to provide a simple apology.

This isn't opposition to discrimination...it codifies OUR unequal status and seperateness.

There is marriage
and NOT marriage

What is so difficult about this concept for Democrats and moderate Republicans?

There is PROOF in MA, that gay/lesbian marriages changed NOTHING for heterosexual marriages...but the lies persist, the fear persists, and I'm fed up with ALL OF IT!

Need a New Slogan
maybe we need better marketing strategies:

"Gay Marriage is Good for the Environment"
Gay couples have many fewer children and the world is over-populated already

"Gay Marriage is Good for Your Neighborhood"
Property values always go up when gays starting fixing up their homes

"Gay Marriage Stops the Brain Drain"
Cities with larger gay populations are smarter, hipper, more fashionable, and have more scientists (okay, I made that up)

Because everyone knows
what hipsters scientists are ;-)

What the hell was I doing in Oaxaca in 1992, on the eve of the Zapatista revolution?

No, you didn't.  There are correlations between wealth and gays.  The geeks follow the gays, is the formula.  Lev, I'm thinking of writing a book about a group of gays who rent themselves to kickstart gentrification.  A community would rent their residence for 5 years.  I don't have anything beyond the premise, other than it would all go awry, as it always must in a story.

Scientists
I made up the part about scientists.  I think.  When you've written 19 books, reality and fiction are hard to tell apart, but so what?

And how about:

I've often thought the same thing.
The Earth's carrying capacity has been exceeded.  Ecosystems are collapsing and will continue to do so.  Nonprocreative partnership leaves a shallower footprint.
