The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Pro-diversity rally in Ft. Lauderdale today to counter the $250K robo-potty mayor

by: Pam Spaulding

Tue Jul 24, 2007 at 14:00:00 PM EDT

[UPDATE: Just in from UNITE Fort Lauderdale. Naugle "apologized" in a news conference, saying it was an "apology for not acting sooner on the problem of homosexual sex in public restrooms." More below the fold.]

People are keeping the pressure up on Ft. Lauderdale Mayor Jim Naugle. There's a large rally, led by UNITE Fort Lauderdale. The coalition includes Equality Florida and other pro-LGBT forces to show the $250K robo-potty mayor that he doesn't speak for the residents of the city. It's at 4:00 PM at City Hall.

The UNITE Fort Lauderdale Rally continues to gain momentum with its strong line-up of speakers. Large crowds from every part of our community are expected to come together in solidarity against the mayor's long string of bigoted and insensitive comments.  Speakers include:

* Michael Albetta - President of GLBT Democratic Caucus, Vice-President of the Dolphin Democrats
* Ken Keechl - Broward County Commissioner
* Matt Foreman - Executive director of The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force
* Mitch Ceasar - Chairman of the Broward County Democratic Party
* Lori Parrish - Broward County Property Appraiser
* Carlton Moore - Fort Lauderdale City Vice-Mayor
* Diana Wasserman-Rubin - Broward County Commissioner
* Mike D Payne - Vice-President of Longshoremen's Local #1526
* Howard Simon - Florida Executive Director of the ACLU
* Nadine Smith - Executive Director Equality Florida
* Stacy Ritter - Broward County Commissioner
* Durrell Watkins - Senior Pastor of the Sunshine Cathedral
* Andrew L. Rosenkranz - Florida Regional Director from the Anti-Defamation League
* Scott Newton - Mayor of Wilton Manors
* Rabbi Greg Kanter - Jewish Light
* Suzanne Boisvenue - Oakland Park City Commissioner
* Stephan Lampasso - Chairman of Human Rights Campaign Florida Committee

UNITE Fort Lauderdale's press release about the mayor's press conference held today at 1PM:
Mayor Naugle once again showed his true colors at a press conference at City Hall.  Flanked by the divisive Rev. O'Neal Dozier, Naugle once again used stereotypes and hate instead of facts in his "apology for not acting sooner on the problem of homosexual sex in public restrooms."  When asked why his assertions run counter to what the police department has repeatedly said, he simply pointed to an incident in South Beach and vague "calls of complaints from concerned citizens" instead of answering questions with facts.

The mayor again dodges questions on his comments and actions towards all citizens of the city he supposedly represents.  When asked if he wanted to apologize for his previous comments about affordable housing, the environment, and other important issues, he refused to answer and instead chose to focus on a problem that DOES NOT EXIST.  When our city needs real action and leadership for the issues facing it, the mayor has chosen to latch on to an issue that he created in his own mind.

Instead of answering to the concerns of the citizens of Fort Lauderdale, he has aligned himself with one of the most divisive religious leaders in Florida, Rev. Dozier.  In fact, the mayor was apparently unable to find a church in Fort Lauderdale to support his bigoted statements, so he had to reach out to the Pompano minister.  Dozier has made several comments over the last couple of years, including calling Islam a ?cult? and "dangerous religion", and said that being gay is "something so nasty and disgusting that it makes God want to vomit" and that HIV-AIDS was God's punishment.  (Broward New Times, November 27, 2003).  In fact, Gov. Bush and Gov. Crist have removed him off of advisory boards for his divisive and disparaging comments.

UNITE Fort Lauderdale is embarrassed and ashamed of Mayor Naugle and his continued string of divisive, hate-filled comments.  His press conference today shows that he has no respect for the citizens of Fort Lauderdale or the damage he is causing the city and region.

The Sun Sentinel's coverage includes video.

This reaction at Incertus is priceless.

Fuckin'... Did you just fuckin' see that? Fuckin' what the fuck? He apologized for underestimating how widespread non-existent homosexual hook-ups in public places are! This problem that only exists in his head... he's apologizing for not spending more time and money on solving it! I mean... fuck, man! Just... wow! Fuck!

As you can see, I'm beyond rational thought and expression at this point. He's been raked over the coals for this for weeks now. He's become a laughingstock on a national level. And now, he calls a press conference designed to make people laugh at him even harder. I mean, who does that? Surely, he's sick of being mayor and wants to be impeached or recalled or something, right? I mean this is the kind of stupid that history's going to remember, you know?

Wow

Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church, home of Dr. D. James Kennedy, one of the nastiest gay-bashers in the country, is located in Ft. Lauderdale, right on Federal Highway.  Yet, even they would not send someone to stand with Nutcase Naugle.

I find it interesting too that the Ft. Lauderdale police department seems to be distancing themselves from their fearless leader, in that they have repeatedly stated that there have been NO arrests or citations issued to men having sex with men in a public place in recent years.

Naugle is clearly unbalanced and obsessed and needs to resign or be removed from office.  He is an embarrassment to his constituents and a detriment to Ft. Lauderdale's #1 industry - tourism.  Gay tourism is a big piece of that industry.

Thankfully, in Florida, a municipal mayor is not as powerful a position as it is in some other places.  Naugle's office is a weak one, with the City Council having most of the power and being able to vote him down.  Also, Broward County, where Ft. Lauderdale is located, is quite gay-friendly, in that they offer DP benefits to employees, and a DP registry for Gay and Lesbian residents.

Don't let Naugle color your opinion of this area.

Got to be a closet case of some kind...

...It's like they believe if they completely obsess negatively about the object of their affection, then they mabye it will stop them from giving in to their own urges.

I believe Naugle's Freudian slip is showing; Oops! Sorry, it's just a piece of toilet paper stuck on his shoe.

sorry about the spelling errors. I was to too angry to spell check.

Maybe we should fix him up!

Porno Pete sounds like the perfect soulmate for Naugle.

It'd be a match made in Heaven.

Thanks
Thanks for the kind words about the post I wrote over on INCERTUS. Obviously, I was pretty shocked by what Naugle said at the press conference; I fully expected him to issue one of those "I'm sorry to anyone who took offense" kind of non-apologies, but when he went up there and actually raised the stakes by saying that this problem that exists only in his imagination is even worse than he imagined... Well, it would be funny if he wasn't giving a black eye to an otherwise lovely community. I would suggest that anyone really interested in this story check out the video footage on the Sun-Sentinel's website; just reading the article doesn't capture Naugle's smug paternalistic tone as he assured the community that he's going to "protect the children" against the nefarious sexual deviants in their midst, and that he's even going to protect homosexuals (never gays-- he's gone on record as saying that he'll never call them that, because they're all obviously unhappy people). Installing robotic toilets equipped with doors that open automatically once "enough" time has passed is his pro-active way of fighting AIDS. Or something. Just watch the video. It won't make much more sense, but at least you'll get to hear the protesters chanting "Shame, shame, shame!" as he walks away from the podium at the end.

lol, this is insane

You guys and gals should have been there. It (the protest rally) was great. Planes flying overhead with Surrender Naugle signs. 100's of people standing in protest. 20 exellent speakers, faith based, politicians, ACLU, EQFL.... It was quite a sight to behold. People driving by honking. Someone pulling a trailer with a fixed up potapotty called robopotty up and down Andrews Ave.... Just wild. The man is digging a bigger hole for himself. He's stupid obviously. Here's my thinking; We have a marriage amendment battle coming... well now. The fundies are already calling local elderly people. Thankfully some of them are PFLAG moms. Naugle is trying to burnish his wacko credentials assuming we won't get him kicked out of office, perhaps wrongly so. I don't think he was ready for that presser. LOL Never seen anybody turn tail and run like that. What was that about South Beach? HIV is a bad thing here in So Fla. true enuff. It's not from public sex tho. We have homes, we have internets. we have sex. Stupid bois have unprotected sex. true enuff. Trying to tie that to an imaginary public sex problem? Well, that is reaching. grasping. This asshole throws his arrogant shit at the working class poor as well. I hope we run him out of town.

I know you all know that Ft. Lauderdale is an accepting, loving, beautiful place. We are free to live openly here in South Florida and our culture has grown and matured because of it. Aside from the wild bois, most of us live pretty normal (and yes happy) lives.

Stay tuned for more Florida fun......

What a jerk

My partner and I really wanted to attend the rally and wished it was scheduled a bit later in the day as we couldn't leave work early. Reading your post, watching the clips and hearing the comments on local news it seems like the rally was a huge success and Naugle was shown to be even more of an a$$wipe.

I definitely agree with you.....we love living in Fort Lauderdale. We live openly at home and work. Our neighbors and coworkers accept us as just plain ol' people.

You can lead a fool to knowledge, but you can't make him think.
