The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Larry Craig - GOP sexual hypocrite with a 'wide stance'

by: Pam Spaulding

Tue Aug 28, 2007 at 08:00:00 AM EDT

A little recap for schadenfreude lovers. It was a bad time for cruising for homophobic Senator Larry Craig (R-ID), who pleaded guilty on August 8 to a disorderly conduct charge after his arrest in the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in June.

An undercover officer just happened to be investigating complaints of lewd behavior and cruising in the men's restroom there when Craig decided to repeatedly leer between the cracks into the stall the officer was in, then proceeded to enter the adjacent stall and play footsie and gesture under the partition for sex. Larry, btw, learn to flush.

Karsnia showed his police identification under the stall. "With my left hand near the floor, I pointed towards the exit," the report said. "Craig responded, 'No!' I again pointed towards the exit. Craig exited the stall with his roller bags without flushing the toilet. ... Craig said he would not go. I told Craig that he was under arrest, he had to go, and that I didn't want to make a scene. Craig then left the restroom."
The senator, once detained at the Airport Police Operations Center tried the old "do you know who I am?" maneuver, showing the arresting officer his business card indicating he was a Powerful Man of InfluenceTM, saying "What do you think about that?" but alas, that didn't fly. Here's the guilty plea court document.

In the annals of GOP sexual hypocrisy excuses, we have this new one to add to the database -- the Wide Stance DefenseTM.

Craig denied any lewd intentions and told police he has a "wide stance" in the bathroom and reached down to pick up a piece of paper from the floor.

"It should be noted that there was not a piece of paper on the bathroom floor, nor did Craig pick up a piece of paper," Karsnia wrote in the police report.

He pled guilty, but now he says it was all a big misunderstanding (sound familiar?).
"At the time of this incident, I complained to the police that they were misconstruing my actions," he said. "I should have had the advice of counsel in resolving this matter. In hindsight, I should not have pled guilty. I was trying to handle this matter myself quickly and expeditiously."
What -- the pickup, the power play at the police station, or trying to make it all go away?

Craig, by the way, avoided 10 days in the Hennepin County, Minnesota pokey/workhouse for his bathroom. He's on probation for a year and paid $575 in fines and fees. The Idaho Statesman's Dan Popkey has a piece on its investigation of Craig's rumored closeted sexual netherworld following Mike Rogers' outing of the Senator in 2006 (more at BlogActive), which included scuttlebutt going back to his college days, and the infamous 1982 pre-emptive denial regarding allegations of sex with underaged congressional pages going on up on the Hill.

The most serious finding by the Statesman was the report by a professional man with close ties to Republican officials. The 40-year-old man reported having oral sex with Craig at Washington's Union Station, probably in 2004. The Statesman also spoke with a man who said Craig made a sexual advance toward him at the University of Idaho in 1967 and a man who said Craig "cruised" him for sex in 1994 at the REI store in Boise.
The Statesman interviewed the Union Station cruise, who said that the men had sex in two restrooms with the encounter lasting "three or four minutes."

***

Yesterday Larry Craig decided to step down as co-senate liaison for Mitt. The Romney's campaign, which proudly hosted a video of Craig supporting the presidential candidate, quickly yanked it from its site (screenshot here), with Mitt's mouthpiece, Matt Rhoades announcing"Senator Craig has stepped down from his role with the campaign. He did not want to be a distraction and we accept his decision."

As we reported yesterday (and how it always is for these guys) Larry Craig's public record as a social conservative is solid. He:
* Voted YES on constitutional ban of same-sex marriage. (Jun 2006)
  * Voted NO on adding sexual orientation to definition of hate crimes. (Jun 2002)
  * Voted NO on expanding hate crimes to include sexual orientation. (Jun 2000)
  * Voted YES on prohibiting same-sex marriage. (Sep 1996)
  * Voted NO on prohibiting job discrimination by sexual orientation. (Sep 1996)

Craig also has a 0% rating in HRC's 2006 Congressional Scorecard.

The senator from Idaho, along with John Ashcroft and Trent Lott, formed The Singing Senators. He should think about hooking up with some of these guys to form a new group:  Bob Allen, David Vitter, Mark Foley, Glenn Murphy, Jr., Tommy Tester, Ted Haggard...the list goes on and on.

Any suggestions for a name for the group and additional members?

Great reporting, Pam!

How about

The Closettes?

Or for more of a punk feel, The Stalls.

I think this is a Rove conspiracy.  They released this news to take the heat off of Gonzales.  I mean, if he was in court weeks ago, why does he story break the very day  the MSM reports on Gonzo.  :-)

BTW, I had to laugh hearing CNN nitwits prattle on about how big a secret it was over the weekend since he tendered his resignation on Friday.  Don't they read any blogs at all?  Raw Story was reporting he was out last Friday.

The Stalls

We have a winnah!

And while I am not a violent man (usually), I am inclined to say that not flushing a public loo earns one a date with a taser.  Same with guys who piss in the toilet and sprinkle the seats and don't clean up after themselves.  Icky icky icky.

Terlets
Josh, I work at at a luxurious health club (which my partner and I liberated for gay couples years ago) that was the model for the one in my new mystery Hot Rocks (http://www.levraphae...).  Lots of well-to-do people work out there, and you wouldn't beleve what pigs many of the guys are, leaving wet towels everywhere, clipping their nails in the locker areas, shaving at the sinks and leaving big globs of hairy foam.  And, of course, not flushing, but the management installed sensor urinals and toilets, so that's been dealt with at least.

Don't forget Craig
Is chairman of Vererarn Affairs.  So, never any help for gays there either.  I would love to be able to get my "spouse" signed up for benefits.......ha

flushing
He was in there for cock, not to go potty.  He was simply saving water by not flushing an empty toilet.

Band Names!?!?

Larry and the Baloney Smokers

T ROOM for 2

GOP Butt Bandits

Maybe he could do Rap under the moniker  "I DA HO"

YES!

I DA HO is terrific.

His first release (ahem) could be

"Me so I da ho-nee"

Umm
Is anyone else a little disturbed that playing footsie in a bathroom stall gets you arrested?

Can they now arrest you in Minneapolis for playing footsie with your husband or wife while seated on a park bench because it's intent to have public sex?

As much as it warms my heart to see this bigot get his comeuppance, I'm a little worried about this on the civil liberties front. Couldn't they at least have waited till he pulled out his penis before arresting him for public indecency?

I'm with you, Morty

...but since this is one of the top stories on the radio this morning, I guess its too scandalous and dirty to ignore the potential for what might have happened next..while overlooking the general lack of lewdness.

He is up for re-election next year.  I don't imagine Idahoans will elect a more enlightened man to replace him.

For now, I guess I'll revel in his bad press.

[ Parent ]
Well...

Leering suggestively through the cracks doesn't help either.  And it wasn't his wife, or his boyfriend, it was a stranger.  Should it be legal for a stranger to stare through the crack at you while you are on the toilet and prod you under the divide?

But I agree that the police were being pretty aggressive here, and that their paranoia is driven by homophobia.  Surely there are higher priorities than waiting in a stall for someone to get frisky with you.

What the hell was I doing in Oaxaca in 1992, on the eve of the Zapatista revolution?

[ Parent ]
It's not the same

Out in public, with a spouse or friend, is not the same as using a toilet.  It's a bit more than playing footsie, too, that he's pled guilty to.

But I want to know two things: was the original charge a felony and he plea-bargained?  And does a misdemeanor dissqualify you from serving in  Congress, or is it a felony that does that?

Absolutely, Morty
I was going to add a comment to that effect, as I did on one of the threads about Bob Allen.

As delicious as the whole incident is, I worry that it's another example of "pre-crime".  Unwanted advances on strangers in a public place may be a problem, but when cops are explicitly playing the game and actively soliciting hookups themselves, they're potentially entrapping people who have no intention of creating discomfort for anyone else--or indeed, of doing anything other than minding their own business unless someone comes along and tries to seduce them.

Isn't it enough for cops or security guards to uniformly enforce the regulations against loitering?  Without writing themselves into the story.  And without putting themselves into a position where they have to make subjective judgments about what people's intentions are.

How about simply 'The Wide Stance'?

How about simply 'The Wide Stance'?

You know, like 'The Range' (as in Bruce Hornsby &) or 'The News' (as in Huey Lewis &)?

And now, live from global corporate headuarters, this week's mega-super group: Larry Craig & The Wide Stance!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a thought.

>^..^<

Maybe we could do some hip hop about that
Reminds me of a song from the late 80s or early 90s, "Buffalo Dance" by Neneh Cherry.  And instead of the catch phrase "Kisses on the Wind"... I shudder to think.

How about...
...the Santorum Septuple?

Blogwhoring @ http://indigestible.nightwares.com/

The Infuriators
As they get us angry for being against us.  And when they get caught they really anger the likes of the Freepi.

But most of all, how they act when they get caught.

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

Lunchtime pondering

Uh...

The Cruisers?

The Commodes?

Those sound so 50's boy band. :)

Or the, um...

'Public Cans?

HAHAHAHA.

Remember Eddie?

"The Cruisers?"

That's been taken (in fact, it was back at the time of the original Craig scandal; hmmmmm...........).

Great movie - but one that spawned one of the worst-ever sequels.

The trollish sounding blogger formerly known as BURNSEY

The Truth Out of Jackson?

When I lived in New Orleans in the 1980s, friends of mine who came from Jackson, Mississippi, would tell me that Trent Lott, in his younger days, would regularly do drag in a bar there. They swore up and down that this was the God's honest truth.

One of my friends, when he was a teenager, went out with his teenage lover to a park in downtown Jackson, met Mr. Lott there, and gave him a double blow job. To juice this story up even a little more, my friend was black and his lover was white.

Even though Mr. Lott is no longer as powerful as he once was, the doing-drag-in-a-bar story would still be a delightful one to prove. If it's true, there are no doubt many witnesses still alive, albeit frightened to death of being sent off to Guantanamo.

At any rate, Pam, maybe the Singing Senators was a pretty gay group just as it was originally constituted.
