The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Things are getting tense in Fort Lauderdale

by: Pam Spaulding

Wed Sep 05, 2007 at 10:00:00 AM EDT

Anti-gay Mayor Jim "$250K robo-potty" Naugle has so polarized matters in Fort Lauderdale that press conferences and demonstrations are getting tense, according to Jeff Black of UNITE Fort Lauderdale, which is sponsoring a Faith Press Conference today, will feature speakers from many denominations and religions to discuss unity, inclusiveness, and acceptance.

Inclusiveness was not on the agenda on Tuesday as members of homophobic black churches, stood with Mayor Naugle at City Hall preaching they are going to take back the city, removing the sin and sinners. Religious men -- in paramilitary gear -- were also standing aside the mayor bleating that  "the depth of sexual sin in Broward County necessitates an old-fashioned spiritual revival."  From Jeff's email to me:

They escorted me from the front door to the elevator when I entered the building today for this press conference, and stood 'post' at the elevator lobby. The video is frightening, worse was I was standing in the room with these people and worried what was going to happened next.
[More of Jeff's letter is after the jump.] From the Sun-Sentinel article on the press conference.
Elder Mathes Guice of the Koinonia Worship Center in Pembroke Park said the county tourist council's targeted marketing to gay visitors "led the spiritual community on a collision course with Satan.'' He said "we have no other choice but to step up and do the right thing'' by holding the revival.

"We love the homosexual people,'' said the Rev. O'Neal Dozier of Pompano Beach. "We find them to be precious people. We want them saved.''

One clergyman was not impressed.

"I'm going to be ill if we don't get out of here soon,'' said Archbishop Bruce Simpson, who traveled from Pennsylvania to talk about the mayor at a news conference scheduled Wednesday evening at City Hall. Simpson is the author of "The Gay Face of God.''

More after the jump.
Pam Spaulding :: Things are getting tense in Fort Lauderdale
UNITE Fort Lauderdale hasn't heard of Naugle's new friends from Koinonia Worship Center before, so Jeff Black tried to find out more about it.
As an organizer of the Unity Press Conference and Prayer Vigil, representing inclusive faiths,  I spoke with Major Carter of the FLDP last night and after  Mayor Naugle paraded this new group out in front of the Mayor's offices and lobby. Major Carter was concerned and is now increasing the police presence at the gathering of clergy at 5:15 this evening.

I've never heard to this group before, the ones in military dress. They concern me a great deal. When I entered City Hall yesterday evening to observe the press conference the Mayor had called with them. Two of them escorted me from the front doors on the north side of the building to the elevators and then stood and took up 'posts' in the elevator lobby.

I tried to find out information on the group but was only able to find a MySpace profile which included an audio track. The audio track is of a military leader talking to a subordinate and explaining how they are in the battle to take back what they have lost for the black man while in the background you hear gun fire and battle sounds.

Koinonia Worship Center in Pembroke Park: Myspace profile page with audio.

What I'm hearing on this page is scary.  "Special OPS (operations) Units" of the church. References to "Exercising Spiritual Authority"?

The audio on the page sounds like a lot of bloviating hot air to me, but why on earth is Naugle associating with fringe churches like this? What a PR nightmare for Fort Lauderdale. The local Tourism Board, which booted Naugle from its board for his unyielding, loony vitriol toward the gay community, has to be roiling as the situation continues to unravel before the media.

Religious men -- in paramilitary gear
I wondered when it would come to this.  Showing their true colors.

Military Religious Right?
I hope the gay community in Fort Lauderdale has brought their Holy water and garlic. Because the vampires have found a way to show themselves in daylight.

The notion of waging war for the Christ is antiChristical.

Jesus instructed His followers to turn the other cheek.

Jesus died on the cross rather than fight back.

Christians must do the same and do so gladly, since it will unite them with their Lord.  A killer Christian isn't a Christian.  He's just a killer.

Wow, black brownshirts
Who'd a thunk it?

And if it were a Muslim group?
Would this kind of horseshit be tolerated?

What country?
The paramilitary religious group escorted a local police officer away from the mayor's press conference? What country did you say this "Fort Lauderdale" place is in again? :)

Standing shoulder to shoulder with honest to god christian brownshirts
Wow, what'll Naugle think of next?  He's really not very astute at promoting homophobia, is he?  Much too unhinged of a true believer to be strategic and insidious, apparently.

I'm willing to bet that the average Lauderdale voter is far more terrified of obviously crazy black men in paramilitary gear than they are of gay men in flagrante delicto in the public john--hypothetical or otherwise.

When these lowlifes try to use race to beat up LGBT people, it always rebounds back against the black community as far as I can tell.  And this looks like a case in point.  Sad for everyone.

This is Absurd
This guy really has a lot of nerve if he says this campaign is not about being homophobic, this is not about arresting people. He's allowing religious fanatics  to guard the elevators from people? I have never in my life seen such totaltarianistic, communistic behavior in my life.

A well known quote becomes relevant:
"When fascism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross" --Sinclair Lewis (b 1885, d 1951)

I would rather be hated for whom I love; than loved for whom I hate.

Speaking of Fort Lauderdale...
...D. James Kennedy just died.

Oh...
PRAISE sweet Jebus for finally taking Kennedy home! I was wondering why I was feeling so upbeat and positive this morning. Only meant that my prayers have been answered. Hallelujah!

Sinclair Lewis...prophetic

Sinclair Lewis was right.....I've heard some Christians, often enough speak as if the Constitution and Bill of Rights carries no weight or authority with them.

Only the Bible does.

It doesn't seem to occur to some of these people that segregationists, chauvinists, writers of Jim Crow laws and anit sodomy laws, non procreative sex discrimination and anti woman institutions...were all created and enforced by those very people who knew THEY would never REALLY be subject to the laws of the Bible.

I really hate this crap going on in Florida. As if gays and lesbians never were or can never be contributing citizens and voters.

Here in America, gay folks have all the responsibilities...with none of the rights.

While many of their fellows citizens, want all the rights, with none of the responsiiblities.

Or they certainly want choices they don't want gay folks to have. They want to make all the choices FOR gay folks.

UGH!

Go to Ft. Lauderdale?
I've been reading where GLBT people still want the GLBT tourists but I gotta tell ya, seeing these press conferences and knowing what the atmosphere is down there, I will not be going there any time soon.  We were even thinking of buying a place there but not now, at least not until that crazy Mayor is out of office.

Who is Mathes Guice?
Yahoo people search turned up one Mathes Guice in FL, age 61.  A Mathes Guice received an acknowledgment of 15 years service to the Broward Co. Sheriff's Office in 2004 (pdf).  Someone by this name was also VP of the Ft Lauderdale NAACP and apparently has also been active in working to re-integrate ex-convicts back into society via a tax-exempt organization.  I used mapquest aerial photo option to check out the address of the non-profit (5787 W SUNRISE BLVD, PLANTATION, FL).  It can't zoom in close enough for my taste, but the address looks like a vacant spot along a major thoroughfare.  google search of the address indicates that it is the location for an accounting firm.  A Mathes Guice has also been appointed to the county Comsumer protection board way back in '96 pdf.  We already know he is an elder at that church that apparently only meets on the ethereal myspace plane, and at "we love homosexshuls" revivals.  Ooh, and this is interesting!  There is an ad for some kind of training on that myspace page.  I googled the address and found this

Yep, sanity has left the building

"We love the homosexual people,'' said the Rev. O'Neal Dozier of Pompano Beach. "We find them to be precious people. We want them saved.''

And I have the suspicion the salvation he has in mind involves a stake and fire.

"The paramilitary religious group escorted a local police officer away from the mayor's press conference? What country did you say this "Fort Lauderdale" place is in again? :)"

Don't know where you saw the report of this but I can say that American cops must be really nice guys if these "escorts" didn't end up staring down the barrels of a couple of R4's.

Laws of Ft. Lauderdale
Isn't there any kind of provision in Ft. Lauderdale's laws that would provide for a recall of Naugle?  That loose cannon just keeps getting more loose by the day!

I think
it is too close to the end of his term to do the recall thing. Next up will be censur I think? from the commision?

Flor-DUH is going to be hurting for a long time.
Tourism is one of Flor-DUH's  biggest industries.  People come from all over the U.S. and overseas to spend time and money there. Also a big part of Flor-DUH's economy is the housing market, which has fallen flat on its ass, with insurance companies tripling rates, or just moving out of the state. No insurance, means no loans for people to buy houses there.  And now with this Naugle clown destroying south Flor-DUH tourism, (straight and gay tourists don't want to go to a place where this stuff is happening) there are going to be alot of businesses hurting, and the economy their is going to go to hell quickly.  The politicains in Orlando knew the outcome if they took sides when the southern babtists called on them for help in their crusade against Disney for Gay Days.  Most kept their feelings to them selves, and the markets worked.

Naugle with his paramilitary religious men, he just doomed Fort Lauderdale.

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

Oy...

If it wasn't for the fact that eventually this will turn violent (camo?!?!?!?!?!), I'd like to see it continue - because, at this point, it has become as absurd as a work of Dada art.

>^..^<

LAWSUIT TIME!!!

The brownshirts (who are not police officers) escorted Mr. Black from a public building (which his taxes paid for).  He was not allowed to attend a public event sponsored by the mayor (whose salary he pays via his taxes) because he wasn't sympathetic to the cause of these hooligans?

Somebody's going to get their sanctimonious fat white mayoral a** sued, possibly with the city of Ft. Lauderdale named as a co-defendant.

YOU, MR. NAUGLE, AS A PUBLIC OFFICIAL, CANNOT BAR SOMEONE FROM A PUBLIC EVENT BECAUSE YOU DO NOT LIKE THEIR POINT OF VIEW!!!

Damn right!
They've now taken to the point that house cleaning is needed.   Sue the fuckers and we should all boycott the city until they clean up this mess.

[ Parent ]
Onward
Christian Taliban, marching as to war . . .

ok, let me be as clear as i can be

boycott or not. i don't guess i have an opinion. but, understand this, you'll be hurting a great community. One asshat in the bunch does not spoil the bunch. As you all should know, Ft. Liquordale is a very cool, welcoming place. If anything it has a crime problem, but nothing like Miami. So, for those of us here, we will continue to fight this moron. People here know damn well, they love their gay neighbors. No one can turn around a neighborhood like a bunch of gay boys and girls.

more to follow.... :)

http://EQFL.org

A moment of clarity . . . .

Jesus died on the cross rather than fight back.

Christians must do the same and do so gladly, since it will unite them with their Lord.

I really see the problem defined more simply:  too many Christians, too few Lions, extra-large cocktail toothpicks not withstanding.

Okay, banshii, let me get this right.  By boycotting we will "...be hurting a great community. One asshat in the bunch does not spoil the bunch."

So - the people who actually VOTED for the asshat, knowing who the asshat is, are not responsible for their actions?

The Freakish Religious Military-Wannabee Zealots covered in this story are not members of the community?  And are also not responsible for their actions?

On a greater scale, the current socio-political climate created by the Good People of Flor-DUH is an a fluke - they are part of a great community and are not responsible for their actions?

The voters who approved insuring Flor-DUH GLBT visitors AND GLBT residents remain second-class citizens lacking basic protections are part of a great community and are not responsible for their actions?

The people who voted for that fucker Jeb Bush, who helped push that evil anti-GLBT parenting legislating through, are also part of a great community?  So they, too, are not responsible for their actions?

Which leads me to conclude that, given so many in Flor-DUH are part of such a great community that NONE of Flor-DUH is responsible for ANY of the nasty things which can harm GLBT people - because they are part of a great community and Florida is "warm and welcoming."

Therefore, I should not stand up for myself and my own kind because some (likely Log-Cabin) GLBT business owners may not make quite as much money this year . . .  not to mention that, by not spending in Flor-DUH, none of my money will go towards a "warm and welcoming" community (despite GLBTs not having basic fiscial, medical, legal, or parent-right protections)?  By standing up for myself, I may hurt someone.  Perhaps cause them a little grief?

Hell - following your logic - the story Pam covered about an airport employee who broadcast Protestant Bible hate-verses over the airport PA system with the intent of harassing a gay couple - I guess you want me to believe that airport employee was not responsible?  That this employee was really warm and welcoming?

Are you drunk?

Words don't count for shit, sweetie:  actions do.  Talk is cheap - as just proven comparing your meaningless words to the history of action, driven by PEOPLE, in Flor-DUH.

Florida has made it clear where the majority stands:  let the backlash begin.

I ain't even buying Flor-DUH's damn oranges and grapefruit:  either California or nothing.

Regarding: "So - the people who actually VOTED for the asshat, knowing who the asshat is, are not responsible for their actions?"

I apply this thinking to Bush voters.  Bush is pro-torture, pro-imperialism, pro-domestic spying, pro-profligate spending, etc., etc., etc.

Sure, I blame Bush for the assault on the Constitution, but I further blame all Bush voters.  If you voted for a torturing, invading, spying despot, then you bear the responsibility.  Being a con and saying, "Bush ain't a real conservative." and "He disappointed us." don't mean shit.

This is further off-topic, but when a con defines the world as the Muslims versus us and "We are the good Christians," they should line up to die for the Christ.  They don't, therefore they don't truly, truly, truly believe that they'll die and cuddle with the Christ forever and ever.  They believe that the Christ suffered on the cross for THEM and no further suffering is required.  They can bunker in their McMansions and redecorate their kitchens and deny again and death with hair color and surgeries, rather than rushing into martyrdom and thus emulating the Christ.

JEB Bush

Holly,

The bush in question is  *J*E*B*  Bush, the former Gub'nor of Flor-DUH, who was instrumental in helping pass the "gays can't be parents" and "gays have no economic and social rights" state-level legislation.

While I agree with your assessment of GEORGE Bush, you have to many visions of Bush dancing in your head.

Sorry 'bout dat.
Those Bushes blur for me.

Naugle
I am taking this as a threat, and the gay people of Fort Lauderdale should too.

I wonder

if those who voted for Naugle knew, or could have known, through any human means, that Naugle was homo-crazy.  That side of him could well have not come out before he was elected.  He is a Democrat, and as such many would make a presumption that he's not likely to be homo-crazy.

I know a case of a local elected official who started showing symptoms of psychosis while on the job.  The symptoms were simply not present or apparent before he was elected.  By no means would I blame any voters for electing such a person, who turned out to be unfit for the job.  How could they have known?

About boycotting, it's a tough issue.  Innocent people getting hurt absolutely deserve sympathy.  I remember when the mayor of Denver (Wellington Webb) was freaking out over the approval of Amendment 2 in Colorado in 1992, and subsequent canceling and avoiding of conventions in Denver (as the rest of Colorado).  He was pro-gay-rights, and didn't vote for the amendment.  He had no control over the bullsh*t perpetrated by his fellow Coloradoans.  And yet I certainly wasn't going to set foot in the state, and I wrote the state tourism board to let them know that that was the case.

So,

Will I/am I personally boycotting Fort Lauderdale?  Absolutely.

Do I feel bad for innocent LGBT business owners being hurt in the process?  Absolutely.

Should everyone in Ft. Lauderdale do their best to stop the Naugle/paramilitary horror show?  Absolutely.

Should everyone in the rest of the country make clear our objections to the Naugle/paramilitary horror show?  Absolutely.

Gay Travel
Too many homo people don't put their money where their mouth is.  How is a vacation relaxing when the location has homo-hating laws and police who believe that hatred and violence are “acceptable” if the victim is a homo?

Now that there actually are jurisdictions that have started passing some laws that start to overturn centuries of entrenched second-class citizen status for non-heteros (Netherlands, Massachusetts, Canada), it's only decent self-interest to reward them with our money.  Doing so also has the net-effect of ‘punishing’ anti-homo jurisdictions and the businesses and business owners and shareholders there with loss of revenue.

Obviously it cuts the options available to us when we are splitting up those days of vacation.  P'town is still good, but Key West not so much.  Reduction of choice is usually seen as a "sacrifice."  But in this case it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make because I genuinely believe I was born equal, and I reject corrupt laws that pretend I am lesser.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had some great gay times in Florida in decades gone by.  I also, by this choice, have friends and family who I will no longer visit at their homes.  Telling them I won’t go somewhere that hospital staff can pretend I’m not married was something they could understand and respect.

I know that there are still homo second-class citizens living in those jurisdictions that deserve my sympathy and support.  But the hetero first-class citizens in those jurisdictions aren’t going to change their minds and votes until it’s in their best interests.  Those best interests include their own economic self interest, which I affect by my choice to not pay them money, and pay it instead to people whose legal environment respect me and my human rights.
