Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Minister tackled, arrested by Capitol police at Petraeus hearing

by: Pam Spaulding

Tue Sep 11, 2007 at 07:00:00 AM EDT

[UPDATE: Liz from Hip Hop Caucus passed on word that Rev. Yearwood has a broken leg as a result of the fracas with the police.]

If you had any doubts about the near-police state we are in, take a look at this: Rev. Lennox Yearwood, Jr., president of the grassroots political organization Hip Hop Caucus, attempted to attend the Petraeus hearings yesterday, along with many others who had to pass a checkpoint to file into the room.

Rev. Yearwood was not only stopped from entering the room, but he was tackled by six Capitol police officers, which resulted in a trip to the hospital. It was all captured on video.

You can hear people yelling "take it easy" and "he's a minister" and asking him "are you hurt?" in the background when the Capitol police officers push him to the ground.  According to Capitol Police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, Rev. Yearwood was tackled and detained by SIX cops because he allegedly refused to go to the end of the line of people waiting to enter the hearing room. He was charged with disorderly conduct and assault on a police officer.

Yearwood, through Hip Hop Caucus as he was being released from the hospital to be taken to central booking:

"The officers decided I was not going to get in Gen. Petreaus' hearing when they saw my button, which says 'I LOVE THE PEOPLE OF IRAQ.'"

After waiting in line throughout the morning for the hearing that was scheduled to start at 12:30pm, Rev. Yearwood was stopped from entering the room, while others behind him were allowed to enter.  He told the officers blocking his ability to enter the room, that he was waiting in line with everyone else and had the right to enter as well.  When they threatened him with arrest he responded with "I will not be arrested today."  According to witnesses, six Capitol police, without warning, "football tackled" him.  He was carried off in a wheel chair by DC Fire and Emergency to George Washington Hospital.

More at The SuperSpade. Hip Hop Caucus will join Iraq Veterans Against the War, Veterans for Peace, Camp Casey Peace Institute, the ANSWER Coalition, Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation, National Council of Arab-Americans, Grassroots America in Washington DC on September 15 for an antiwar protest timed to coincide with the report by General Petraeus on the "Surge" in Iraq.

It's his own fault for Christ's sake!
What sort of nut wouild go out in public wearing a button that people could interpret as meaning that he loved his enemies?  Jesus H. Christ, this guy is supposed to be a man of God?  What could he have been thinking?

How could you be so ironic?
That sounds soo familiar... where have I heard that before?  About loving one's enemies?  And a reverend no less.  Mm mm, that's going to be pestering me for days.

Shame
I am ashamed of yesterdays protesters.

On this of all days.
What people would interpret his button as supporting our enemy?  I thought Iraqis were our grateful friends.  Aren't we the ones who bombed them back to the 19th century so that they could enjoy western style democracy?  You know, the kind of democracy where you don't have to fear having your leg broken because you're wearing a button that promotes an alternative political view, something Saddam probably did routinely.

Excessive Force

While I neither condone nor defend the behavior of the uniformed officers, I have to say that the good Reverend should have what was bound to happen when he lunged for the entrance doors to the hearing room. Some level of force was predictable, but nobody deserves to have their leg broken.

Though I am not familiar with the Reverend's politics or activism, I'm inclined to suspect him of intending to create some sort of physical confrontation once he was denied entry (for whatever reason that was).

It's unfortunate that the video clip begins once he's already been removed from the enrty line -- I'd be interested in the events leading up tho that point.

should he have just quietly retreated?
Yearwood had the right to go in.  He could insist on that right or give it up by moving to the back of the line.  A patriotic American certainly may be non-violent, but is never docile nor mindlessly obedient.

Police Thug Mentality
What's with the comments here? Are you already so beat down by this tyrannical government brought to us by Bush Co. that you think it's the Reverends fault for simply wearing a button and for asking why he was being singled out.  He was clearly no threat to anyone. Get a grip here people. Democracy, freedom, unless you want a police state you better start waking up. Stop making excuses for police state brutality.

brutality
I am as disgusted by police brutality as anyone but the claim that the police tackled him "without warning" does not seem true after watching the video.  He did make a sudden lunge for the door.  I read that the Capitol police are under the office of the Speaker.  That would be Pelosi, maybe the Dems need to work on changing the storm trooper attitue in the Capitol police as well as our Iraq policy.  The Republicans are sinking fast due to rising awareness of their anti-people policies and their headline grabbing hypocritical screwups.  Now we need to start beating on the Democrats so they don't continue with the same crap.

I don't see it

What I see is not the reverend lunging for the door, but trying to twist out of the hands that start grabbing him.  You can see for certain the white officer behind him (closer to the camera) has a hand on his upper arm and shoulder, and the black officer between the rev and the door seems to have at least the rev's right arm.  It also seems to me that the white officer in front of the rev may have a grip on him, too.

Looks pretty fishy to me.

EXACTLY
EXACTLY - THE REVEREND DID NOT MAKE A PLAY FOR THE DOOR - THAT IS ABSURD. HE WAS BEING ACCOSTED FOR NO REASON. END OF STORY.

[ Parent ]
Oh - now I see!
The Reverend was 'cutting in line.'
