Senate approves expansion of hate crimes legislation

This whole hate crimes thing is outrageous. Such a law would not stop me from saying what I think. Ted Kennedy should be horsewhipped for the things he says and tries to do. Just let him be reminded that we have not forgotten the young lady he drove off the bridge with. Anna

Its a sad day when our constitution is being violated by unfair unequal prosicution of someone because he is homosexual.

We the people have got to vote these people out of office and give the power back to the people.

Thank you for keeping us aware of things of this nature. I totally support President Bush's veto of any bill such as this.

Are we surprised by this? Politics has become all about deceit, lying and saying and doing whatever is necessary to get what is wanted. I do not suggest we abdicate from our responsibility to be involved in the political process but without prayer we will get nowhere. Only God has the power to change the hearts of those who have been deceived by the enemy of our souls, Satan. Specifically, we should pray that the whole method of attaching one bill to another be thrown out. It is one of the reasons why it is so hard to be an honest politician that always demonstrates integrity. To those that try, thank you. I also pray that president Bush will have the strength, wisdom and courage, to veto this bill and push for the funding to stand on it's own because passing this bill would be a very dangerous move.

Doesn't the president have line item veto? How anti-American to attach this to the DOD bill. But, it shouldn't surprise anyone that Kennedy would come up with it. Too bad we can't send him and a few other senators to Iraq or Iran. OOPS-that is hate crime talk!!

How disgusting that Sens. Kennedy and Smith would stoop to this level to endorse their sickening agenda! I hope this will wake people up to the fact that the 2008 election is not ONLY important in terms of who our next President is likely to be, but also who will serve in Congress!

Attaching a Bill on so called "hate crimes" is like the old days of horse trading and underhanded politics. They can't pass the Bill honestly, so let's beg and cheat and steal if we have to, even lie, but we'll get it passed. What has happened to our country. It's like I heard yesterday, America's not at war, the Military is, America is at the Mall.

It is a sad day for america when our own congress tramples on our right to free speech and cuts another portion of the constitution away and burns it. All I can say is that they must are becoming very wicked. I hope President Bush vetoes this quickly.

This is just another attempt to silence the free speech of Christians. Some day when the Muslims take over the once great United States. The homosexuals would then welcome back the Christians. Now the homosexuals do not want Christians telling them that there CHOSEN lifestyle is against what God has designed, all we can do is witness & pray for them. A real Christian does not kill anyone. Some liberal at Columbia should have asked why no homosexuals are in Iran? What has happened to our leaders? I think they have all lost contact with reality. They have been in office tooooo long. Maybe it's time to get a NEW slate of representatives. Will Sen. Kennedy and Sen. Smith stop at nothing to silence Christians? Are they so full of hate towards us that they will do anything and everything they can to turn this country into a homosexual communistic land? I pray that President Bush WILL VETO this bill and that those senators will be silenced permanently.

Either bills that cover more than one subject should be made into two or more bills or line item veto should be passed. Each side wants the ability to use line item veto, but they don't want the other side to be able to use it. When are the senators, representatives, and presidents going to do what is best for the country and not what's best for them. Power is their God!

The deceit of the American people by the politicians must be stopped. It should be prohibited that more than one matter can be considered on either a house bill or senate bill. When a Yes vote means No and vice versa it it ludicrous and deceitful.

The amendment attached to the DOD bill by Kennedy shows complete disregard for the choices of the people of our country. It would be extremely doubtful if such an amendment could be made a law by itself without being attached to a DOD bill.

Ted Kennedy is a murderer and should not have even been on the Senate in the first place.

It is shameful that Senator Kennedy is equating special treatment of crimes against particular people groups as anti-terrorist activity. It degrades and is demoralizing for those who are actively engaged in the war on terror. So called "hate" crimes legalizes something that our legal system is constantly fighting - namely speculation. It also implies that the arresting officers, prosecutors and others involved in the legal system are God, in that they know the intent of the heart of the person committing the crime. It is political catering in it's most deceptive form because anyone who is killed, tortured or assaulted is already protected by the law of the land be they black, white , gay , straight, christian, jew, muslim, etc. It is the first step in criminalizing those who believe and think differently from the far left, just as "hate" speech is. What kind of outrage was raised by Mr. Kennedy when Kathy Griffin made her "hate" filled speech about Jesus - the silence of the liberal left and left-wing media was deafening.
