Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Senate approves expansion of hate crimes legislation

by: Pam Spaulding

Thu Sep 27, 2007 at 12:30:10 PM EDT

The big hurdle facing hate crimes legislation in the Senate as been overcome. In a 60-39 vote to proceed to adoption, the Senate approved the Kennedy amendment which adds sexual orientation, gender identity and disability to the existing hate crimes legislation.

Among the Republicans that crossed the aisle to move the legislation forward:

John Warner
Richard Lugar
Susan Collins
Olympia Snowe
George Voinovich
Arlen Specter
Judd Gregg
Norm Coleman
Gordon Smith (co-sponsor)

Kennedy then asked for a voice vote on the amendment and that subsequently passed.

The measure is part of the defense reauthorization bill, which is slated to go up for a vote in the near future.

As you might imagine, Diaper Dave Vitter voted no, as did Toe Tapping Larry Craig.

Norm Coleman?
The Green Goblin voted in favor of ending discrimination?  I am verklempt.  Maybe he still has a shred of humanity remaining after all.

This is surprising indeed

In spite of the fact that he is one of the few (perhaps even the only) member of congress to have ever employed a post-transition, openly transsexual woman, all of his opposition to GLBT stuff seems to stem from the B & T, particularly the T.

Daily Kos opinion
A post on the daily kos states that Coleman is concerned with Al Franken running for senator in Mn.  Therefore he is starting to slide (pander) to the center.  This sounds like a good explanation for Coleman's actions.

[ Parent ]
Ohh, that makes sense!

That's just like the Green Goblin, putting up one finger to see where the wind blows to save his own rotten skin.  I take back my tentative approval of his vote.

He's no patch on Al Franken, who is actually in favor of marriage equality.

[ Parent ]
I've been wondering

why Al Franken's running for the Senate story hasn't been getting much, much more press.  At least for those of us who remember him from the '70s, it seems like an incredibly tasty story...one that should be more interesting than Jesse Ventura running for governor.

I think Franken will probably win, by the way, ifonly because of his exceptional differences from anyone who has ever made a serious run for a major public office (the brains and the SNL-style humor)...and then it will get SUPER-interesting.  Mark my word.  (And he could be in the White House some day, too.)

[ Parent ]
BARNEY,,,It is trans-inclusive!!!
the same as ENDA needs to be!!!

If I make sense? it was quite by accident.

Wonderful news for a Thursday or any day

Arguments
I just love the tired mantra they always use that "every crime is a hate crime".  But, if you were to ask them "Well, okay, Mr. Legislator, since you're against hate crime protections for GLBT's because every crime is a hate crime, I assume that you'll immediately sponsor a bill to eliminate hate crime protections for all groups.  Of course, that would include hate crimes that are religiously based."  Then, stand back and watch them stammer and stutter.

Actually, I don't think they would stammer and stutter
I think they would go ahead and do it. Religious protection is there for religious minorities. Like Muslims and Mormons.

Minorities
You have to remember though that wing nut fundie Christians consider themselves to be a discriminated minority.  Just flip over to Porno Pete's website and you'll see plenty of references to "anti-christian bigotry".  They'd burn up the phone lines, fax machines, and congressional e-mail boxes to their Republican puppets if there'd ever be any hint of a bill to strip hate crime protections from religious minorities; again in their view, "bible-believing Christians".

[ Parent ]
Gaaaah, I totally forgot the "persecuted-minority-are-we" bit
I totally forgot that the religious right nutjobs think they are a persecuted minority. Here I was thinking like a rational human being. See what happens when you think rationally about irrational things? You end up looking stupid!

Smoke and Mirrors....

It may have passed today, as an ammedment, but it will never become law because the defense reauthorization bill will not pass, that is why it was attached to it.

The republican congress members will not support the Defense Authorization Bill so they know it will not pass. If Congress can't come up with a "bi-partisan" aggreement about anything to do with the war any ammendment that is attached will die.

JMHO.

The trollish sounding blogger formerly known as BURNSEY

what was the alternative?
the only hope of getting this signed by the prez is to attach it to something he wants quite badly (war $$).  it is a common maneuver.  the alternative was to have brought it up on it's own, which would guarantee that bush would veto it.  as it is, even if we get a veto, we have 60 senators on record in support.  they will be under heavier pressure now to not backslide on that support should it need to be submitted again in the next session.

Yup, I agree
As much as it sucks to have to wait at least we are moving in the right direction.  Even if we have to wait until the next Congress it is necessary to lay down the foundation, and today's vote showed that the Democrats support LGBT issues.  Assuming that the Democrats sweep the Congress in 08, I am starting to feel excited about the changes coming after this fucking president leaves office.  Hopefully the UAFA is not far behind.  Less than 16 months to go people.

Larry Craig is one cowardly c*cksucker

What an embarrassment to humanity.

He'd probably welcome a violent hate crime against himself.  It would help him deal with the guilt he feels for being such a dirty, dirty person.

"Our Liberties We Prize and Our Rights We Will Maintain" -- Iowa state motto

Comments from the WingNuts

Sorry if this is long, but here are some hillarious responses from people at the AFA site.  They are going ape-shit!

Didn't Bush promise to veto it? I don't know what the margin for veto proof would be but hopefully it'll get vetoed.

Anna Rogelstad:

This whole hate crimes thing is outrageous. Such a law would not stop me from saying what I think. Ted Kennedy should be horsewhipped for the things he says and tries to do. Just let him be reminded that we have not forgotten the young lady he drove off the bridge with. Anna

Hilda Hansen:

I believe that this will affect Americans (right to) free speech and freedom of religious expression will no longer be

Kenneth Patrick:

Its a sad day when our constitution is being violated by unfair unequal prosicution of someone because he is homosexual.

Glenn Jamison:

We the people have got to vote these people out of office and give the power back to the people.

DALE MCKENZIE:

Thank you for keeping us aware of things of this nature. I totally support President Bush's veto of any bill such as this.

Barbara Rocca:

Are we surprised by this? Politics has become all about deceit, lying and saying and doing whatever is necessary to get what is wanted. I do not suggest we abdicate from our responsibility to be involved in the political process but without prayer we will get nowhere. Only God has the power to change the hearts of those who have been deceived by the enemy of our souls, Satan. Specifically, we should pray that the whole method of attaching one bill to another be thrown out. It is one of the reasons why it is so hard to be an honest politician that always demonstrates integrity. To those that try, thank you. I also pray that president Bush will have the strength, wisdom and courage, to veto this bill and push for the funding to stand on it's own because passing this bill would be a very dangerous move.

tim:

Doesn't the president have line item veto? How anti-American to attach this to the DOD bill. But, it shouldn't surprise anyone that Kennedy would come up with it. Too bad we can't send him and a few other senators to Iraq or Iran. OOPS-that is hate crime talk!!

Damina:

How disgusting that Sens. Kennedy and Smith would stoop to this level to endorse their sickening agenda! I hope this will wake people up to the fact that the 2008 election is not ONLY important in terms of who our next President is likely to be, but also who will serve in Congress!

Linda Love:

This is what we get when the vast majority of church leaders in America spend decades with their heads in the sand and refuse to take a stand for Biblical Truth!
This bill will eventually brand God a hate criminal because in the Bible he prohibits homosexual behavior. We will really be subject to the "thought police" and Federal Big Brother Bureaucrats.
Let's hope for a veto but don't count on it!

Earl B. Phillips:

Attaching a Bill on so called "hate crimes" is like the old days of horse trading and underhanded politics. They can't pass the Bill honestly, so let's beg and cheat and steal if we have to, even lie, but we'll get it passed. What has happened to our country. It's like I heard yesterday, America's not at war, the Military is, America is at the Mall.

Paul Chamberlain:

It is a sad day for america when our own congress tramples on our right to free speech and cuts another portion of the constitution away and burns it. All I can say is that they must are becoming very wicked. I hope President Bush vetoes this quickly.

Jer miner:

I've said it before and I will say it again, and again and again.....
Senator T. KENNEDY is a "TRAITOR' to the citizens of this country....!!!!

It seems he is desperately trying to be as 'gigantic' as both of his brothers, ED Kennedy and Pres. John Kennedy, and this turkey "lives off" of the good deeds of the Kennedy clan.
Guess what...? He hasnt made it, he never will, and the only fame from this Kennedy is his 'SELL-OUT'
of our country....
ISNT Free speech wonderful ?

dallas w eversole:

no bill that kennedy has anything to do with should be voted on.period.

D. H.:

SHAME on these Senators! That has voted for a system that will create a two-tiered justice system. This WILL elevate one class of citizens based on their CHOSEN sexual behavior. This is just another attempt to silence the free speech of Christians. Some day when the Muslims take over the once great United States. The homosexuals would then welcome back the Christians. Now the homosexuals do not want Christians telling them that there CHOSEN lifestyle is against what God has designed, all we can do is witness & pray for them. A real Christian does not kill anyone. If a Christian is angry we have a commandment from our GOD (Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath. Ephesians 4:26 King James Bible) Someday God will judge everyone for their sins and for their sin of unbelief. But first when the Muslims take over the United States it will be like Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said, "we have no homosexuals in our country"! Some liberal at Columbia should have asked why no homosexuals are in Iran? If Ahmadinejad would speak the truth it would be because the Muslims kill a homosexual even faster than they will kill the non-believers of their false god Allah.

GEORGE CAMPOS:

They are just going to keep going until the right of free speech is obliterated and then the civil war begins...

Brack:

I have never been able to figure out why Massachusetts voters keep voting this fool and idiot back into officed over all these years when he has done so much damage to this nation, including the very people that elect him. What....are they a bunch of masochists???

Bill:

What has happened to our leaders? I think they have all lost contact with reality. They have been in office tooooo long. Maybe it's time to get a NEW slate of representatives. The gual that all of them have to put amendments to a bill that don't even pertain to the bill. But who cares! They are our elected? reps and they can do anything they want.

William Davis:

Where are you when you when everything you stand for is being violated, ACLU?

Shirley Hackbart:

Will Sen. Kennedy and Sen. Smith stop at nothing to silence Christians? Are they so full of hate towards us that they will do anything and everything they can to turn this country into a homosexual communistic land? I pray that President Bush WILL VETO this bill and that those senators will be silenced permanently.

John Pruden:

I hope Orgoneon Christians let Senator Gordon Smith know their outrage because of his siding with Ted Kennedy and voting for this Godless anti Christian bill.

B. J.:

Either bills that cover more than one subject should be made into two or more bills or line item veto should be passed. Each side wants the ability to use line item veto, but they don't want the other side to be able to use it. When are the senators, representatives, and presidents going to do what is best for the country and not what's best for them. Power is their God!

dcress:

The deceit of the American people by the politicians must be stopped. It should be prohibited that more than one matter can be considered on either a house bill or senate bill. When a Yes vote means No and vice versa it it ludicrous and deceitful.

Richaard Glommen:

The amendment attached to the DOD bill by Kennedy shows complete disregard for the choices of the people of our country. It would be extremely doubtful if such an amendment could be made a law by itself without being attached to a DOD bill.

the amendment Kennedy attt

James Fennell:

Kennedy is an enemy of every patriotic, Christian American, and he continues to do great harm to conservative ideals. Anathama on him and all his kind.

Olivia Boudreaux:

This is truly sad what were they thinking of in passing something that would really hurt the United States?

Vince Fitzgerald:

Watching certain individuals working within our government makes me want to puke. When are we going to do something about that drunk. Would you run your company with him at the helm...I think not!!!

Deborah Sheehy:

We need LINE ITEM VETO power in the hands of the President!

J Moore:

Ted Kennedy is a murderer and should not have even been on the Senate in the first place.

Stephanie:

It is shameful that Senator Kennedy is equating special treatment of crimes against particular people groups as anti-terrorist activity. It degrades and is demoralizing for those who are actively engaged in the war on terror. So called "hate" crimes legalizes something that our legal system is constantly fighting - namely speculation. It also implies that the arresting officers, prosecutors and others involved in the legal system are God, in that they know the intent of the heart of the person committing the crime. It is political catering in it's most deceptive form because anyone who is killed, tortured or assaulted is already protected by the law of the land be they black, white , gay , straight, christian, jew, muslim, etc. It is the first step in criminalizing those who believe and think differently from the far left, just as "hate" speech is. What kind of outrage was raised by Mr. Kennedy when Kathy Griffin made her "hate" filled speech about Jesus - the silence of the liberal left and left-wing media was deafening.

You kid, you kid...
No, I'm afraid she's serious: "Didn't Bush promise to veto it? I don't know what the margin for veto proof would be but hopefully it'll get vetoed."

Babe, if you seriously don't know what the ratio is to override a veto in the Senate, go over to your local high school and ask the librarian for a civics textbook. When you can pass the self-test in the back of the chapter on Congress, call me and I'll listen to as many of your opinions as I have time for.

Ignorance is not a vegetable.

But wait, there's more!

Fascinating
Wow, they have swallowed the bait.  AND they caint spell or right two good.

[ Parent ]
I just thanked Republican Judd Gregg

I'm a Democrat and I have a political fetish: leaving voicemails on randomly chosen Republican Senators to "please" support such-and-such liberal bill.

Just now I left a thank you message on  Senator Judd Gregg's box. Why Gregg? Because his name begins with a "J" and his party is opposite mine.

See the Republicans who voted for this wonderful bill. Pick one at random, and thank them. This advice is only for Democrats like me, though hopefully you have more social lie than me...

Pick, Call, Thank. We've found a reason to smile

Finally...
Wow. I didn't think this wasn't going to get through the Senate. Bush will probably veto it, but this is a good victory.

Lugar?
Well, this is fantastic.  I was really worried about him.  I'd like to know how often he was contacted on it....

Thank you
Thank you George Voinovich.  Actually, he was against the measure to change Ohio's constitution to ban SSM as well.
