Blend-o-licious endorsements...

The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

Discrimination Against LGB Folk And Atheists Could Cost Boy Scouts $199,999.00

( - promoted by pam)

Philadelphia has laws and policies against discrimination -- specifically, Fair Practices Ordinance. This ordinance includes protections for LGB people and non-theists.

Boy ScoutsWell, officials for the Cradle of Liberty Council have said they can't renounce the Boy Scouts' policy of not allowing atheists or openly LGB parents, leaders, or scouts without violating their charter with the Boy Scouts' National Council.

And, if they want to keep their headquarters at their same location it is now, it will cost the local council $199,999.00 a year. Here's the story:

The Boy Scouts of America's refusal to bend its rules to permit gay scouts will cost the organization's local chapter $200,000 a year if it wishes to keep its headquarters in a city-owned building on Logan Square.

Boy ScoutRepresentatives of the Boy Scouts of America's Cradle of Liberty Council were notified that to remain in their 79-year-old landmark headquarters, they needed to pay the city a "fair market" rent, Fairmount Park Commission president Robert N.C. Nix said Wednesday. Currently, the rent is $1 a year.

The city decided on the rent proposal after it was unable to reach a compromise with the local scout council in talks that have gone on since May.

"Once we know what the Cradle of Liberty Boy Scouts want to do, we'll probably want to weigh in with the city about how to proceed," Nix told the park commission.

Barring a resolution, the Cradle of Liberty Council - about 64,000 scouts in Philadelphia and parts of Delaware and Montgomery Counties - must vacate the property at 22d and Winter Streets after May 31.

Anti-gay and anti-atheist Boy Scout apologists aren't likely pleased. I'm sure we'll see reactions that highlight their belief this decision indicates Philadelphia's "total intolerance for Christian beliefs and values" in some numbers soon.

sounds right to me. you don't want gays in, you don't have a right to gay money or anything that is paid for with the help of gay money.

Focus On The Family Responds

Moral Guidelines Will Cost Boy Scouts $200,000 in Rent.  Excerpt:

Bruce Hausknecht, judicial analyst for Focus on the Family Action, said:

"Since the homosexual lobby couldn't get the courts to do their bidding for them, they are now searching for liberal city councils that will make the Boy Scouts pay dearly for their uncompromising stand for righteousness.

"The lesson here for all Americans is that any statute or ordinance labeled as a 'nondiscrimination' law will be used as a club to silence all moral opposition to homosexual behavior."

Super!!!  *eyes roll*

If . . .
Grand Ayatollah Dobson and his minions at Focus on the Fascist really felt sorry for the Bigot Scouts, they'd dig into their pocket change and pay the $200 grand a year for them!

Ummm...no
"...any statute or ordinance labeled as a 'nondiscrimination' law will be used as a club to silence all moral opposition to homosexual behavior."

No, it will be used to end discrimination.

Fair Practices Ordinance
Autumn...The Phila Fair Practices Ordinance also protects on the basis of gender identity.  I'm not sure why you listed it as protecting LGB only.

Social outrage is power protecting itself; it is not morality. -- Andrea Dworkin

Because I wasn't sure...

...and because T inclusion wasn't mentioned as a factor in any of the articles I read on Philidelphia's actions.

If you look at my recent diaries, I profiled former Eagle Scout Brenda Watson -- we work together with Scouting For All for removing the Boy Scouts from Balboa Park.

As for my personal connection to scouting issues, my oldest son is an Eagle Scout -- if the Boy Scouts had known I was transgender, that would have been a reason for him to have been kicked out of scouting.

I'm very aware of how T issues are effected by National Boy Scout Council policies on LGBT folk, atheists, and non-theists -- T's just didn't seem to be a consideration in this particular Philadelphia story.

Philly

The bill passed in 2002 after the group (a mix of trans & g&l folks) were working on it for a few years. The vote count in council was 15 to 2. Like nearly all of the trans protective ordinances that have passed - it was by a huge margin. There was no support from HRC in the process - though the Task Force was wonderful.

The PA Family Council tried to stop it by quoting Barney Frank on why transgender people shouldn't be in ENDA. People here who raised money for him couldn't get a call back from his office on the issue. Finally - someone who knew him socially & was the head of one of the county dem parties got through. I still have their press release & the fax we got from Rep. Frank to clarify his statements.  What Rep. Frank sent back - was unusable. It would have set back our efforts to try and pass the bill. We buried it.

Hey Everybody!  Petey's posted an "alert" from Donny Wildman at the American Fascist Association.  It includes a link to a pre-written letter chastising the Philadelphia City Council for charging the Bigot Scouts the $200 grand a year.  But, it can be edited thanking them for their stand against bigotry and homophobia.  I'm sure an edited version of the letter would never make it to the Council, but it's fun just knowing the jihadists at American Fascist will see it!
