The Christian Civic League of Maine's Mike Hein calls Pam's House Blend:
"a leading source of radical homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian bigotry, and radical transgender advocacy."

He is "praying that Pam Spaulding will "turn away from her wicked and sinful promotion of homosexual behavior." (CCLM's web site, 10/15/07)

Ex-gay "Christian" activist James Hartline on Pam:
"I have been mocked over and over again by ungodly and unprincipled anti-christian lesbians."
(from "Six Years In Sodom: From The Journal Of James Hartline," 9/4/2006, written from the "homosexual stronghold" of Hillcrest in San Diego).

"Pam is a 'twisted lesbian sister' and an 'embittered lesbian' of the 'self-imposed gutteral experiences of the gay ghetto.'" -- 9/5/2008

Peter LaBarbera of Americans for Truth Against Homosexuality heartily endorses the Blend, calling Pam:

A "vicious anti-Christian lesbian activist."
(Concerned Women for America's radio show [9:15], 1/25/07)

"A nutty lesbian blogger."
(MassResistance radio show [16:25], 2/3/07)

Pam's House Blend always seems to find these sick f*cks. The area of the country she is in? The home state of her wife? I know, they are everywhere. Pam just does such a great job of bringing them out into the light.

The ENDA the line

by: Pam Spaulding

Wed Nov 07, 2007 at 15:30:22 PM EST

Lots going on with ENDA today as the House is voting; I'm unfortunately going to be offline for several hours while I'm flying to Las Vegas for BlogWorld, but the Blender crew will keep the information coming.

As of 3:15 PM ET:

* Chris Johnson of HRC Back Story reports that the latest parliamentary maneuvers by Republicans to stop debate, a motion to adjourn, has failed, 164-254. There's a media advisory from the Speaker's office about a press conference after the vote and news will probably break quickly.

* Mike Signorile plans to have NY Congressman Jerry Nadler on his radio show today. Nadler -- a strong supporter of LGBT equality --  will explain why he will not vote ‘yes’ on the trans-exclusive bill. If he votes no on the trans-free ENDA, Nadler is going to get a black mark on his HRC scorecard for that vote. (Mike asked Joe Solmonese about that yesterday in his interview).

* Jeremy of Good As You is posting audio of the ENDA debate in the House. He has Barney Frank's and Jerry Nadler's statements.

* Watch and read if you can take it: video of Barney Frank from the House floor (via The Gavel):

“When people who are opposed to the basic bill and opposed to the amendment, lament the chance not to vote on an amendment which would undermine the bill, people should understand where we are. I filed the bill that included people who are transgendered. Earlier this year, I was very proud when this House passed a Hate Crimes bill that included transgender… The question we have is this: if we do not have the votes to go forward with as much as we would like to do, do we then abandon any effort, and do we allow those who are opposed to any progress at all in the anti-discrimination fight in this area to use a particular group as a way to prevent progress?”
* It's likely that Tammy Baldwin will pull her amendment rather than it be defeated, as was reported earlier.

***

Quite frankly, regardless of the outcome, the big picture is that this entire situation is a complete embarrassing mess of mixed messages and motives, inadequate preparation, poor PR strategy, and a hell of a lot of anger and vitriol that is damaging, painful and was this amateur hour was avoidable. One can only hope that whatever tattered relationships remain can be stitched together in some form or fashion, because there's more legislation and lobbying coming down the pike. Our community, for whatever that word means at this moment, needs to find a better way of doing things.

My Open Letter to Rep. Mark Souder on ENDA.
John Aravosis is being a ass again
http://www.americabl...

http://www.haloscan....

NOTE FROM JOHN: Yeah, nice job at trying to change the subject. Your side has been playing bush-league politics for week and you got caught not knowing what you're doing. Also, you got caught claiming to speak for the entire community when you speak for 30% of it. Lots of gay men and lesbians have no idea how and why they supposedly have as much in common with someone who gets a sex change as they do their fellow gays and lesbians. The truth of that fact is inconvenient for your side, to be sure, but your anger does nothing to change the fact. It does however continue to prove my point that your side of this debate is in PC-overdrive and relies on very few facts.

Jeez, John, are you ever going to lay off? The wingnuts are predictably being assholes, and all you can think of is to blame Tammy Baldwin and the T community?

NOTE FROM JOHN: Well, Tammy Baldwin and the T community are trying to kill gay civil rights legislation that we've been trying to pass for 30 years - and I don't mean metaphorically trying to kill, they've outright called for ENDA to be defeated. So I'm sorry, but I'm not going to lay off criticizing people who don't understand politics, and who still, to this day, are on the record as calling for ENDA to be defeated. When they stop lobbying against our civil rights bill, I'll stop discussing their lack of political sense.

the idiot thinks he has been trying to personally pass
I never heard anything from that idiot till he started to attack Transgenders about ENDA. I never saw him post anything before about it either yet he is personally trying to get it passed he can sink lower folks. He is showing you that there is no end to betrayal. You can not attack Barney Frank but they will attack Tammy Baldwin right there.

[ Parent ]
Again?

Its his normal condition.

HE's a cabinite -- a faux gay man who doesn't give a rat's ass about anyone who isn't straight and happens to have sex with someone of the same gender.

He's not a gay man.  He's a Larry Craig that went the other way.

Baldwin is speaking on the T amendment now

3:59 CST - Baldwin is speaking on the T amendment now.

>^..^<

Why do I find my self agreeing with Rep. Souder on this one?
WTF?  He's right.  The democrats are being dishonest.  This guy's a nut job, yet he's the one calling for a vote.  Damn.

Funny how Souder is telling the truth

They are voting as I write this on the two remaining ones.

They violated procdeure, as well. INtentionally so.

Souder's move was *extremely* carefully done, and he did indeed win, as Tammy's time was up and she should not have been able to be recognized.

The bill should have been voted on. That they broke rules in order to kill it shows that while Tammy's heart is in the right place, the party -- under Barney's leadership, is effectively ending this.

Barney is still being a fuck, and I will still do everything I can to ruin him.

ITs really really sad when someone on the opposite side has to be upfront and tell the truth about this bill's being ripped to shreds in the name of political expediency.

Once again, the transgender part of the community has been tossed aside as a sacrifice to the greter good.

And we're supposed to be happy about it.

no.

Not now.  Not ever.

http://www.dyssonance.com  Breaking all the rules...

You noticed that, too?

Don't let Tammy Baldwin Off The Hook.
Souder was right - this wall all about protecting Democrats from having to go on record one way or the other. I want to know which Democrats don't support protections based on gender identity. If they had to vote, some who privately have said they would vote against the amendment might actually vote for it. That's why they don't want to have to vote. If it were an easy vote, they wouldn't care if a vote was taken. By withdrawing her amendment Tammy is putting the electoral interests of her party ahead of the interests of the community. I respect everything she has done up to this point but in the end, I'm afraid, she too has let us down.

[ Parent ]
oh, hon -- haven't you heard?

We;re supposed to recognize how tht's all part of the process, how that's the way its done on the Hill, how its all about the process...

And the T is just becoming highly processed.

Funny thing, thogh.

Anythign highly processed int he food world is usually worthless or bad for you...

http://www.dyssonance.com  Breaking all the rules...

[ Parent ]
I agree,
I would much rather have seen who was willing to go on the record for voting against transgender rights protection.

[ Parent ]
I pretty much feel sick in my stomach today over this
It is just sad very sad.

[ Parent ]
huggs hon

Me too.

FOr weeks.

IF I didn't have to eat, I'd stop trying to get a job and go start up a new NFPO myself.

Of cvourse, getting a job is still impossible for me... .. and won't be possible anytime in my life, it appears.

http://www.dyssonance.com  Breaking all the rules...

[ Parent ]
Me to, sick over this.

just sick over it, and the double standards..the process, Franks crocidile tears, the marriage crap amendments. Cowards all of em. And always putting some obscure party electoral thing above and beyond and now a motion to recommitt.  Anyone want to head to the chat room ? seriously for support.   gaaak. I feel like the very sausage they talk about making, while legislating. And watching the sexism too , is distressing so AVororis..is bashing Tammy even though she is doing exactly what Barney and the HRC asked her to do.....its all just too much.. Got to remember what does not kill us makes us stronger ? Trying to be positive here.  (and also not wanting this highly flawed bill to pass, sorry just don't - just like DOMA should have never passed )

reminds self - no one ever said it was gonna be easy.

[ Parent ]
Amendment 1 passes
Someone want to remind me which one that was?

http://www.dyssonance.com  Breaking all the rules...

Exemptions for religion

[ Parent ]
Thanks.
That one I supported

Amendment 2

I think this one is showing the true feelings of a lot of democrats.

hmmmm....

Looks like the "groundwork" hasn't been laid for marriage...

http://www.dyssonance.com  Breaking all the rules...

Did any one follow Rep Miller on this one?
If I recall, he opposed Amendment 2 originally, but then decided to support it, because he said it's irrelevant.  Is that correct?  If so, I don't get it.

[ Parent ]
Its irrelevant becuase

The bill never actually addressed the issue

The purpose of the amendment was to make it explicit that there's nothing in there that would deal with marriage in any way, shape , or form.

But it still shows the feeligns about marriage.

I still say people should be fighting for kinship.

I have to say it again
If Frank was shot or run over by a bus tomorrow, I wouldn't mourn or give a damn.

http://www.dyssonance.com  Breaking all the rules...

You might...

...if he was replaced by an anti-gay Dem.  There are more than a few of them here in Masschusetts.

Your juvenile rant is more than indicative of the problem that gays and lesbians have.  You don't give a flying fuck (be nice: tinker's damn) for equal rights for gays and lesbians.  And that's why I don't give a tinker's damn for the opinions of idiots like yours.  I had to put up with idiots like you in the 1960s, and I am not certainly not adverse from marginalizing idiots like you now.

[ Parent ]
a little hateful there?
Wait you mean hippies you had to put up with hippies in 1960? Or are you saying you had to put up with us Transgender folk? Put up you mean you weren't willing to understand anyone, but instead you were so transphobic you didn't know what was coming out of your mouth till it was to late?

[ Parent ]
You are wrong, raj

I do give a damn.  The problem is that I see us all as one thing, and you see only the light skinned ones.

And you are damn right -- I will contribute to an antigay opponent of Frank if that's what I have to do.

At least then I'll know what to expect.

That's how pissed off I am., and how firmly I believe that he represents everything bad aboutpeople like you.

I've had to put up with idiots like you since before I came out.  assimilationist twists with all the priniciples of a rock.

Come on, Raj -- *show me the money*.  Show me how we haven't laid down our ghroundwork.

See, the T *is* gay and it is lesbian, and it is bi, and it is all the other variations and things in there that give you the freaking heebee jeebies.

So good luck proving we haven't laid our groundwork.

 otherwise, piss off.

http://www.dyssonance.com  Breaking all the rules...

[ Parent ]
Nice attitude
It's nice to always have someone you consider lower than yourself to piss on.  At least then, when you think how bad it feels to be pissed on yourself, you can add your piss to the runoff hitting everyone below you.  Funny how people are so quick to move for compromise when it's not your rights that are being left behind.  Enjoy your "victory", but don't pretend to claim any sort of higher moral ground.

[ Parent ]
Unequivically no
Sorry Pam but gay men have damaged me far too often to keep being forgiven. I have never, ever held ill will or done any harm to any gay man. I have worked and toiled and been assaulted and been arrested and they have thrown me under the bus for the past time. I didn't create this situation, a very small but noisy bunch of bigots posing as progressives did. Screw them now and forever.

here we go final vote !?

will it pass ? will it fail ?

It already has failed
And it will fail yet again if the Senate takes it up.

[ Parent ]
WTF are they applauding?

Pyrrhic victory?

They just voted to say that transgender people aren't worth consideration and are less than human.

They threw so many people under the bus in trying to get something passed that wha'ts come out inthe end is without value or merit.

http://www.dyssonance.com  Breaking all the rules...

it's history repeating itself
The only lesson I have learned from this is history has shown that they are willing to throw us out just like every other bill in it's time. They have not changed in the way HRC plays the game. I'm only 26 but that is the lesson I have learned. Oh and yes I'm out of work too. I do not dress but I am known for standing up for Transgender stuff. I live in Texas too which doesn't help.

I have a few friends here that I can not leave though they are in even worst positions then me. I'm only dedicating myself now to Transgender issues. I used  to support gay issues and feel it should be there but what is the point in supporting a group that isn't even willing to support the Transgender community. I still feel sick at my stomach over this and then watching them applaud and celebrate how they once again repeated history.

[ Parent ]
I know, hon.

I know.

Every day I apply.  I have interviews all the time.

I am full time, hon. I'm passable. Most folks have no clue.

My work history outs me.  Its great work hisotry -- I've always been a gret employee and I'm very good at managing systems and people and I've been doing it for for over 20 years.

Six months.  Over a thousand applications.

Politics is personal, and the personal is political.

ENDA Passed...thanks for throwing us under the bus

My feelings about ENDA passing to the selfish aspects GL community are this:

Congratulations on your non-prize winning hollow victory.

After today I don't EVER want to hear ANY gay person for the rest of my life try to say tjat their movement is like the 1960's Civil Rights one.

You ain't even close to having the moral fiber that Dr. King had.

quote from HRC

I just got this announcement in my email:

"Our fight will not be won overnight - it will be won one step at a time. This has been a grueling few weeks for our community, but we have never once given up on achieving our ultimate goal of workplace equality for GLBT Americans."

They still use the T.  Is Aravosis aware of this?

So all the freaking hoopla is over....the bill finally passed...now it will languish in obscurity in the Senate...never receiving the guaranteed veto from Bush.

Is everybody happy they had a chance flip off trans people to place a marker?  What a victory.  One that will be forgotten by the end of the week, by all except the people that were sacrificed and bullied and disrespected in the name of progress.

Whippie.

Thus the new sig line
